Mickey Jean Rowland

Funeral for Mickey Jean Rowland, 70, of Portland, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home, Portland, followed by burial in San Patricio Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Rowland died Sunday, March 26, 2000.

She was born March 25, 1930, in Henderson County, Ky., the daughter of Melton and Cornelia (Bartley) Chandler. A homemaker, she had lived in Portland since 1956.

She is survived by her husband, Allan R. Rowland, Portland; six children, Barry Rowland, Ingleside on the Bay, Texas, Donna Meng and Mark Rowland, both of Garden City, Michael Rowland and Scott Rowland, both of Rockport, Texas, and Steven Rowland, Portland; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Speks, Baton Rouge, La.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Kenneth W. Graham

TRIBUNE -- Funeral for Kenneth W. Graham, 44, was to be 10 MST this morning at the United Methodist Church, Tribune, with the Revs. Keith Fink and Michael Underwood officiating. Burial was to be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.

Mr. Graham died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at his home in Horace.

He was born Aug. 14, 1955, at Tribune, the son of Francis G. and Violet M. (Schenck) Graham.

A lifetime Greeley County resident, he was a backhoe operator and belonged to the Southeast Colorado Fish & Game Association, Denver.

He is survived by his father, of Horace; five brothers, Lonnie, Larry, Billy and Terry, all of Tribune, and Jerry, Garden City; two sisters, Karen Piper, Tribune, and Lisa Klozenbucher, La Crosse; and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and a nephew.

Memorials are suggested to Pheasants Forever, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune.

Robert Frank 'Bob' Helfrich

SYRACUSE -- Vigil service for Robert Frank "Bob" Helfrich, 48, will be 7 p.m. MST Tuesday at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Syracuse. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. MST Wednesday in the gymnasium of Coolidge High School, Coolidge, with the Rev. Mike Helms officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Mr. Helfrich died Sunday, March 26, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in rural Coolidge.

Born Aug. 13, 1951, at Syracuse, he was the son of Fred Helfrich and Virginia H. Wilt. He attended high school at Coolidge, graduating in 1969. He attended Fort Hays State University and graduated from Kansas State University in 1973.

A Coolidge resident for most of his life, he worked as a farmer, traded commodities, and was part owner in the Coolidge Dairy. His children were the love of his life. He attended St. Raphael Catholic Church, and enjoyed golfing and race cars.

On Aug. 15, 1992, he married Tish Huser at Las Vegas. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Jesse Helfrich and Nicholas Helfrich, and a daughter, Alexandra Helfrich, all of Syracuse; a brother, Dick Helfrich, Coolidge; and two sisters, Nancy McBride, Holcomb, and Peggy Helfrich, Nashville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by a brother, John "Jack" Helfrich, and a sister, Judy Helfrich.

Visitation hours are from 3 to 8 MST tonight and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. MST Tuesday at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse. Memorials are suggested to the Helfrich Children Education Fund at First National Bank of Syracuse, in care of the funeral home.

Irene Dominguez Ramirez

Funeral for Irene Dominguez Ramirez, 47, of 4101 E. U.S. Highway 50, Lot 503, was to be 11 this morning at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, officiated by Sister Teresa Orozco, O.P. Burial will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Ramirez died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Feb. 21, 1953, at Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Jesus and Carlota (Ramirez) Dominguez.

In 1982, she married Juan Ramirez Olvera at Guanajuato. They moved to Garden City in September 1999, moving from Gainsville, Ga. She became a U.S. citizen in 1996. A homemaker, she attended St. Mary Catholic Church, and enjoyed music, sewing and cooking.

She is survived by her husband; her parents, Guanajuanto; five brothers from Mexico, Georgia, Texas and Florida; and a sister from Mexico.

Peter A. Wittman

Vigil service for Peter A. Wittman, 92, will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mr. Wittman died Friday, March 24, 2000, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Dec. 29, 1907, at Victoria, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Kreutzer) Wittman. He graduated from Park High School and attended business college.

After serving in a U.S. Army base finance office during World War II, he lived in Oklahoma and Lubbock, Texas, from 1956 until moving to Garden City in 1958. In Garden City, he was the accountant and office manager of Garden City Sale Co. Inc., for 26 years.

Mr. Wittman was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Sunrisers Kiwanis Club and Harry H. Renick American Legion Post No. 9. His special interests were gardening, fishing, reading, hunting, and polishing rocks.

On Aug. 11, 1946, he married Frances M. Heydman at Enid, Okla. She died Jan. 11, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Wittman, three sisters and six brothers.

He is survived by two sons, Anthony Wittman, Olathe, and Joseph Wittman, Topeka; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Special Olympics, both in care of the funeral home.

Herman Ratzlaff

SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Herman Ratzlaff, 85, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Mr. Ratzlaff died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

He was born Aug. 10, 1914, at Protection, the son of Bernard and Marie (Schultz) Ratzlaff. On July 11, 1935, he married Elsie Dirks at Syracuse.

A Scott City resident since 1944, moving from Fredonia, he was a farmer and belonged to First Baptist Church.

He is survived by eight sons, Chester Ratzlaff, Virgil Ratzlaff and Galen Ratzlaff, all of Scott City, Garry Ratzlaff, Holcomb, Delbert Ratzlaff and Leonard Ratzlaff, both of Tulsa, Okla., Milford Ratzlaff, Boulder, Colo., and Michael Ratzlaff, Russellville, Ark.; three daughters, Virginia Koehn, Montezuma, Joyce Koehn, Garden City, and Glenda Ryan, Scott City; a sister, Suzanna Unruh, Montezuma; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Merrill, Gerald and Melvin; two grandsons; and 19 brothers and sisters.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to the church or Park Lane Nursing Home, both in care of the funeral home.

M. Magdalena Cordova

HEALY -- Vigil prayer service for M. Magdalena Cordova, 83, will be 7 tonight at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dighton. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Francis Khoi Nguyen as officiant. Burial will be in Healy Cemetery.

Mrs. Cordova died Monday, March 20, 2000, at her home in Healy.

She was born May 28, 1916, at El Mendorf, Texas, the daughter of Juan Nick and Soledad (Garcia) Campos.

A Healy resident since 1939, moving from Selkirk, she was a teacher's aide for 20 years in Leoti and Healy. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, St. Theresa Altar Society, the Hit & Miss Band, and the Pick & Fiddle Band.

On Nov. 11, 1939, she married Frank L. Cordova at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marienthal. He died Aug. 15, 1993, at Healy. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter; and a brother, Charles Campos.

She is survived by three sons, Anthony L. Cordova and John B. Cordova, both of Topeka, and Michael F. Cordova of Lawrence; a brother, Rafael Campos, Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Louise Korbe, Garden City, and Inez Blau, Leoti; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 5 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to St. Theresa Catholic Church of Dighton or the Healy United Methodist Women, both in care of the funeral home.
