Susanna Jones

MONTEZUMA -- Funeral for Susanna Jones, 91, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Montezuma Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lyn Hansen officiating. Burial will be in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma. Charles Schmidt, minister, will officiate.

Mrs. Jones died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where she had been a resident since January 1990.

She was born June 6, 1908, at Coy, Okla., the daughter of Benjamin C. and Eva (Unruh) Unruh. A Montezuma resident since 1981, moving from Santa Rosa, Calif., she was a Christian woman all her life. Her hobbies included reading, handwork, crafts, bingo, dominos, visiting and music.

She is survived by a nephew, Linn Unruh of Arvada, Colo., whom the family raised; a brother, John Unruh, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Agnes Unruh and Evalena Schmidt, both of Montezuma, and Amanda Brown, Rio Vista, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Jones, whom she married in 1967; three brothers, Elias Unruh, Daniel Unruh and Jacob Unruh; and two sisters, Carlina Unruh and Marie Garton.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc., in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

Lena M. Brueggemann

Lena M. Brueggemann, 69, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.

She was born Sept. 23, 1930, at Florence, Ala., the daughter of Henry and Della (Sharpston) Peden.

A Scott City resident since 1963, moving from Battle Creek, Mich., she was a homemaker and enjoyed assisting at Scott County Hospital in Scott City. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, VIP Senior Citizens Center, the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

On Jan. 21, 1948, she married Erich Brueggemann at Corinth, Miss. He died April 21, 1983, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by a son, Dale Brueggemann, Auburn; three daughters, Della Brandenburger, Lakin, Debra Weaver, Baltimore, and Diana McDaniel, Scott City; three sisters, Virginia Darlington, Bellevue, Mich., Helen Bissot and Marie Linville, both of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; a brother, Walter Peden, Tuscumbia, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, with the Rev. John Riebhoff officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the VIP Senior Citizens Center, both in care of the funeral home.

Duane Ray Logan

>LEOTI -- Funeral for Duane Ray Logan, 66, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harvey Park Baptist Church in Denver. Burial will be in Golden (Colo.) Cemetery.

Mr. Logan died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Denver.

He was born April 29, 1934, at Leoti, the son of Clyde R. and Adlee (Wallace) Logan. He graduated from Wichita County High School in 1952 and graduated from Fort Hays State College.

Mr. Logan was administrator of Wichita County Hospital in 1959, moved to Rangley, Colo., where he worked for Chevron Oil Co., moved to Denver in 1966 and was a system analyst manager with Forest Oil until his retirement.

He was a member of Harvey Park Baptist Church, Chevron Retirees Club and Harvey Park Choir, and was treasurer of the church.

On May 2, 1959, he married Mary Lou Wasinger at Hays. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Lynn, Lakewood, Colo.; four daughters, Lori Chen, Lakewood, Lisa Hodges, Aurora, Colo., Leanne Brady, Woodlands, Texas, and Lenae Duran, Woodstock, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Judy Rokowski, Preston, Conn.; and two brothers, Cloy, Scott City, and Leon, Lenexa.

Memorials are suggested to Harvey Park Baptist Church, 2112 S. Patton Court, Denver, CO 80219, or the donor's choice.

Olinger Wadsworth Mortuary, Denver, is in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Doyle Johnson

ULYSSES -- Patrick Doyle Johnson, 34, a former resident of Ulysses, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Fort Pierce, Fla.

He was born Oct. 8, 1965, at Ulysses, the son of Carl W. and Deanna F. (Nash) Johnson. He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1984 and from Pittsburg State University in 1989.

Mr. Johnson was a middle school technology teacher at Northport Middle School in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ulysses. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, scuba diving, singing and music.

He is survived by his parents, Ulysses; a brother, Keenan W. Johnson, Phoenix; a sister, Jill Fishburn, Tempe, Ariz.; his grandparents, Doyle and Bonnie Nash, Ulysses; a nephew; and a niece.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, with Dr. Max Clayton officiating. Private burial services will be Friday in Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Restoration Fund or Grant County Scholarship Foundation, in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant St., Ulysses, KS 67880.

Inez Minnie Dillon

SCOTT CITY -- Inez Minnie Dillon, 84, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born Sept. 26, 1915, at Seligman, Mo., the daughter of Robert Cyrus and Nancy Emma (Sikes) Persons.

A Garden City resident since 1935, moving from Seligman, she owned and operated Inez's Fashions here for 36 years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Richard Dillon, Humble, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Farr, Scott City; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and a grandson.

Private family graveside service will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. Jeff Arnold officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Scott County Hospital, Scott City, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.

Alvin E. Burch

LEOTI -- Alvin E. Burch, 23, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident east of Leoti.

The son of Gary L. and Barbara R. (Griem) Burch, he was born Jan. 21, 1977. A lifetime resident of Leoti, he was a processor for Caprock Industries.

Mr. Burch was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the country bands Country Fever, Moonshiners, Lane County Dusters, Country Justice and Tomcats.

He is survived by a daughter, Madison Ann Burch, Leoti; his fiance, Dana Luebbers, Leoti; his father and stepmother, Gary and Nona Burch, Kendall; his mother, Barbara King, Leoti; a brother, Cody Burch, Kendall; two sisters, Nancy Turman, Haleyville, Okla., and Kimberly Burch, Kendall; his grandparents, Glenn and June Burch, and Herman and Georgia Griem, all of Leoti; and his great-grandmother, Mary Rowton, Leoti. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Leoti, with the Rev. Susan Charest-Wickiser officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials to the Alvin Burch Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Joye Edna Brinkmeyer

Funeral for Joye Edna Brinkmeyer, 87, a former Garden City resident, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Dr. Lee R. Louderback officiating. Burial will follow in Halstead Cemetery.

Mrs. Brinkmeyer, of Elm Grove Estates in South Hutchinson, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1912, at Burrton, the daughter of Henry E. and Minnie (Luginbill) Smith. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1930. In the early 1930s, she and her father established Smith's Market.

A longtime resident of Hutchinson and Garden City, she moved to South Hutchinson in 1991. She was a homemaker and belonged to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and Happy Homemakers Home Extension Unit. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women and the First United Methodist Church, both at Garden City.

On Oct. 12, 1941, she married Charles A. Brinkmeyer at South Hutchinson. He survives. She is also survived by three daughters, Joan Schweer, Olsburg, Juanita Regehr Christensen, Thornton, Colo., and Charlene Neill, Fort Atkinson, Wis.; two brothers, Virgil Smith, Hutchinson; six sisters, Oma Decker, Mary Burns, Ruth Spivy, Ruby Jacques and June Burns, all of Hutchinson, and Emadae Wright, Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
