Violetta Abigale Webster
LEOTI -- Graveside service for Violetta Abigale Webster, 85, a longtime resident of Leoti before retiring in Texas, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Leoti Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Helms officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Leoti VFW Post.
Mrs. Webster died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Ennis Regional Medical Center in Ennis, Texas.
Born March 1, 1915, at St. Joseph, Mo., she was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Shull) Brown. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison.
She served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a code breaker. After her discharge, she worked in eastern Colorado and western Kansas.
On Oct. 1, 1952, she married John Wilson Webster at Sharon Springs. A homemaker after her marriage, she assisted her husband with the family business, Webster Seed & Supply of Marienthal. After retiring in 1976, they moved to Texas. He died Dec. 17, 1993. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two sons, John Webster, Kaufman, Texas, and Roy Webster, Gillette, Wyo.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Leoti Emergency Medical Technicians, in care of the funeral home.
John S. 'Jack' Campbell
LAKIN -- John S. "Jack" Campbell, 73, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
He was born May 18, 1927, at Garden City, the son of John C. and Gladys Elizabeth (Stewart) Campbell. He lived in Deerfield before the family moved to Lakin where he graduated from Lakin High School.
He entered the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he attended Kansas State University for one year. He returned to Kearny County and became a lifelong farmer-stockman. He also worked as a bookkeeper at Kearny County Feeders for 10 years.
Mr. Campbell was the director of Kearny County Bank, served on the Lakin School Board for 16 years, and was a member of the Southwest Kansas Royalty Owners Association, Southwest Kansas Irrigators Association and the Kansas Wheat Growers Association. He enjoyed bird watching and watching television.
On July 18, 1948, he married Maxine White at Lakin. She survives. Other survivors are three sons, John S. Campbell Jr., Raleigh, N.C., Michael E. Campbell, Malverne, N.Y., and Kevin G. Campbell, Lakin; a daughter, Caroline Basler, Denver; a sister, Dolores Jane Holland, Russell; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. Beymer.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Lakin.

Anna M. Pritchett
Funeral for Anna M. Pritchett, 98, of Lamar, Colo., will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Peacock-Wood Funeral Home, Lamar, with Derek Thomas and JoAnn Ernsthausen officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. CT Thursday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Pritchett died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Sandhaven Care Center in Lamar.
She was born Jan. 8, 1902, at Pratt, the daughter of Harlan R. and Carrie M. (Stacy) Parker.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Ruth Parker and Vina Fellers, both of Hugoton, and Margaret Parker, Lamar; a great-nephew, Donald Parker, Ordway, Colo.; and a great-niece, Paula Jean Sellers of Colorado. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Donald M. Hobson and Bert Pritchett.
Memorials are suggested to Sandhaven Care Center, directly or in care of the funeral home, 209 S. Fourth St., Lamar, CO 81052.
Stanley Wayne Miller
Stanley Wayne Miller, 47, a former Garden City resident, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at his home in Lawrence.
He was born Sept. 1, 1952, at Lexington, Mo., the son of Alfred and Laura (Bach) Miller, and was raised in Blackburn, Mo.
A Lawrence resident since February 1999, after living in Garden City since 1975, he was a shop foreman for John Deere Tractor Co. He lived in Higginsville, Mo., from 1972 to 1975.
On May 27, 1972, he married Jan Davidson at Sweet Springs, Mo. She survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Jennifer Hostetter, Waverley, Mo., Angela Cook and Kathryn Miller, both of Lawrence; one grandchild; two sisters, Lois Greene, Lawrence, and Marge Byrd, Albany, N.Y.; and a brother, Rodney Miller, Carrolton, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Neil Wayne, in 1980.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Blackburn. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery.
Visitation hours are after 7 p.m. at Berg Mortuary Chapel, Blackburn, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice, in care of the mortuary.
Betty Louise Loewen
HUGOTON -- Betty Louise Loewen, 61, of Moscow, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Satanta District Hospital.
Born in Stevens County on July 17, 1938, she was the daughter of William J. and Enola (Thompson) Fox.
A homemaker, she was a Girl Scout and 4-H leader for many years, judged at county fairs, enjoyed being a member of the Sewing Club and playing bridge and bingo, and also farmed with her husband, Elmer Loewen.
She is survived by a son, Jace Kelly Loewen, Moscow; a daughter, Melonie Fisher, Duncan, Okla.; a brother, Bob Fox, Moscow; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, whom she married Aug. 26, 1956, at Moscow, died Jan. 9, 2000.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Moscow, with the Revs. Larry Bradford and Josue Mora officiating. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Girl Scouts or 4-H Club, both in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
Dorothy B. Harbin
LEOTI -- A remembrance celebration for Dorothy B. Harbin, 63, will be 8 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Leoti. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Susan Charest Wickiser officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Mrs. Harbin died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at her home in Leoti.
She was born Oct. 22, 1936, at Leoti, the daughter of Henry D. and Alice R. (Elder) Summers.
A homemaker, she had been a Leoti resident since 1955. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Methodist Church Choir, Wichita County High School. Sports Booster, VFW Auxiliary and several bridge clubs, all at Leoti.
On July 5, 1956, she married Dean Harbin at Leoti. He survives. She is also survived by two sons, Mike, Longmont, Colo., and Ted, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Shelly Graff, Leoti; her mother, Leoti; four brothers, Roy, Advance, N.C., Donnie, Lakin, Merle, Blackwell, Okla., and Dude, Garden City; four sisters, Helen Ridder, Leoti, Delora Stites, Midlothean, Va., Bess Brown, Salt Lake City, and Barb Heili, Garden City; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials to the Dorothy Harbin Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Leta B. Gibson-Dennis
DIGHTON -- Leta B. Gibson-Dennis, 90, a former Lane County resident, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Bethany Home in Ripon, Calif.
The daughter of William Riley and Theo (Edmisten) Cornelison, she was born at Russell Springs on March 28, 1910, at the Russell Springs Hotel where her parents were the proprietors.
In 1932, she married Grant Gibson. They lived in Lane and Gove counties until moving to California in 1963. A homemaker, while in Lane County she worked as a seamstress, as a cook at the Tin Can Cafe and other restaurants, and also had other jobs throughout her life. She was a survivor of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl Days.
She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and Rebekah Lodge, was a former home demonstration leader for 4-H, and a former sewing teacher and judge.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Kirk, Aurora, Colo., two sons, Charles Peterson, Modesto, Calif., and Gerald Gibson, Escalon, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1965; a son, Gale Gibson, in 1978; and five brothers.
A memorial service took place Tuesday in Ripon. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Shields Cemetery, Shields, with the Rev. Randy Jellison-Knock officiating.
Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to the J.O.Y. Center, in care of the funeral home.
