Jeane Rixon

SUBLETTE -- Jeane Rixon, 76, of Sublette, died this morning, July 5, 2000, at Satanta District Hospital.

She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Ford County, the daughter of Edward A. and Marie (Kirkpatrick) Simmons.

On July 13, 1949, she married Paul Rixon at Raton, N.M. They owned and operated Rixon Hardware in Sublette for several years. A homemaker, Mrs. Rixon had been a lifetime resident of the area.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Eddie Rixon, Sublette; two daughters, Marge Collins, Satanta, and Betty Miller, Sublette; her mother, Garden City; two sisters, June Lawder, Peyton, Colo., and Doris Kleysteuber, Garden City; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Eddie Simmons.

Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, with Brian Rixon and Jesse Garetson officiating.

Friends may register at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Sublette Emergency Medical Technicians or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Wilma Ruth Rylant

SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Wilma Ruth Rylant, 63, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. Robert Nuckolls officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Mrs. Rylant died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at her home in Scott City.

Born Wilma Ruth Hart on April 30, 1937, at Hitchcock, Okla., she was a homemaker and had been a resident of Scott City since October 1999, moving from Dighton. She was a member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church of Scott City.

On April 11, 1977, she married Clarence O. Rylant at Utica. He died Sept. 3, 1999, in Scott County. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Elizabeth Rylant.

She is survived by a son, Paul Rylant, Alma, Ark.; two daughters, Ruth Pittser, Mountainberg, Ark., and Joyce Rylant, Scott City; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the L.I.N.K. Foundation, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 553, Scott City, KS 67871.

Agatha Ohmes Englert

Agatha Ohmes Englert, 85, of Pueblo, Colo., died Sunday, June 25, 2000. Funeral was at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Pueblo, with burial in Ramah (Colo.) Cemetery.

She was born March 7, 1915, at Spearville. She attended Garden City Community College and was postmaster for a time at Eminence. She was organist at Sacred Heart Church in Ramah, but is best known as an advocate for good schools. As member of the Ramah school board, she spearheaded efforts to consolidate tiny schools in the area, which led to formation of the Big Sandy School District.

On Nov. 29, 1933, she married Leo Francis Englert. They lived on a farm south of Syracuse until 1947 when they and four of their five children moved to a farm near Ramah. In 1987, the couple retired from farming and moved to Pueblo.

She is survived by her husband; a sister, Clara Schwieterman, Canon City, Colo.; two sons, Thaddeus, Estancia, N.M., and Timothy, Lafayette, Colo.; two daughters, Rosetta Land, Pueblo, and Mary Ann Sheridan, Simla, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leo Francis "Steve" Englert.

Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, Pueblo, was in charge of arrangements.

Beatriz Flores Sanchez

Johnson CITY -- Vigil service for Beatriz Flores Sanchez, 79, was 7 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Johnson City. Funeral Mass was to be 2 p.m. today at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson City, with the Rev. John Kowal officiating. Burial was to be in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson City.

Mrs. Sanchez died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Johnson City.

She was born Oct. 25, 1920, at Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Manuel and Eusebia (Mendiola) Flores. A homemaker, she had been a resident of Johnson City since 1961.

On March 31, 1939, she married Ernesto Sanchez at McAllen, Texas. He died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Domingo Sanchez; and two daughters, Eduvijes Griego and Rosario Rodriquez.

She is survived by three sons, Jose L. Sanchez, Walsh, Colo., Gudalupe Sanchez, Arlington, Texas, and Ramon Sanchez, Pueblo, Colo.; five daughters, Antonia Sanchez and Juanita Sanchez, both of Johnson City, Patsy Ramirez, Lubbock, Texas, Rosalinda Sanchez, Forgan, Okla., and Angie Castello, Newton; 33 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Stanton County Senior Center at Johnson City, in care of the funeral home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson City, KS 67855.

Bidal Bonilla

DEERFIELD -- Bidal Bonilla, 61, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

Born at Deerfield on April 29, 1939, he was the son of Fortunato and Norberta (Beaza) Bonilla. He graduated from high school at Salina and attended Hutchinson Community College.

A 28-year resident of Hutchinson, he retired in 1995 as senior truck operator of the City of Hutchinson.

Mr. Bonilla was a member of Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Crusidiastas, a long-term member of No. 513 Service Employees Union, AmVets, American G.I. Forum and the League of United Latin American Citizens, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On Aug. 5, 1972, he married Rita Mora at Hutchinson. She survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Rita Jo Bonilla, Stephanie Marie Tatum and Melissa Anne Bonilla-Carter, all of Hutchinson, and Mary Frances Coffman, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Carmen Montoy, Salina; seven brothers, Fortino Bonilla, Antonio Bonilla, Fortunato Bonilla Jr., Juan Bonilla, Santos Bonilla, Guillermo Bonilla and Rodrigo Bonilla, all of Salina; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bidal Hernandez; seven brothers, Albert Bonilla, Frank Bonilla, Joseph Bonilla, Jose Bonilla, Sepian Bonilla, Arcadio Bonilla and Benito Bonilla; and a sister, Petra Bonilla.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe, South Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Visitation hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.

Joe Ward

Memorial service for former Garden City resident Joe Ward, 71, of Henderson, Nev., and formerly of Hays, was 11 a.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Miller officiating. Private inurnment is to be in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays.

Mr. Ward died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Henderson.

He was born Aug. 22, 1928, at Skiatock, Okla., the son of Rholand Vernon and Dollie Mae (Hall) Ward. He graduated from Hays High School.

Mr. Ward was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Cherokee-Delaware Tribe of Indiana, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

On Nov. 10, 1948, he married Patricia Felten at Casper, Wyo. She died March 4, 1988. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Grabbe and Alma Orth.

On Aug. 31, 1992, he married Gayle Cowan at Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Joe Ward Jr., Emporia; two daughters, Karen Munsch, Schoenchen, and Terry Stegman, Hutchinson; a stepson, Shane Jackson, Guam; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Shelton, Henderson; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County, in care of the funeral home, 20th and Pine, Hays, KS 67601.

Maria Amelia Bonilla Jo Lopez

Graveside service for Maria Amelia Bonilla Jo Lopez, 18-day-old daughter of Teresa and Lucio Lopez II of Wichita, will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Ascension Cemetery, Wichita.

Maria died Saturday, July 29, 2000.

Her father is a former Garden City resident.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Marvin Jr. and Marie Mitchell, Fayetteville, Ark., and Mary Jo and David Richardson, Wichita; her great-grandparents, Jeanette and Robert Nation, and Charlene McCann, all of Wichita; two brothers, Lucas and Lucio Lopez III, both of the home; two half brothers, Robert Hirt Jr. and Roger Hirt, both of Houston; a sister, Trisha Lopez, of the home; and a half sister, Tabitha Hirt, Houston.

Broadway Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.
