Karla Grace Brucker

Karla Grace Brucker, 34, of Garden City, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Coldwater.

She was born Aug. 27, 1966, at Fairfax, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Cathy (Pair) Brucker.

A resident of Garden City and Corpus Christi, Texas, for most of her life, she had moved to Garden City in 1988. She was a member of Bible Christian Church of Garden City, and enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and bowling.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Peggy Brucker, Garden City, and Cathy and Dan Darroch, Coldwater; her grandmothers, Edith Brucker, Omaha, Neb., Grace Pair and Juanita Darroch, both of Coldwater, and Margaret Spikes, Garden City; a brother, Kevin Brucker, San Antonio; three stepbrothers, Rick Deel and Danny Darroch, both of Garden City, and Damon Darroch, Fort Riley; a stepsister, Vicki Foster, Albany, Ore.; four nephews; and one niece.

Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bible Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Jeff Starkey officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics, in care of the funeral home.

Sherrie Ann Gibson

SYRACUSE - Graveside service for Sherrie Ann Gibson, 52, of Syracuse, will be 2 p.m. CST Wednesday in Gem Cemetery, Gem.

Mrs. Gibson died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at University Hospital in Denver.

She was born Nov. 11, 1947, at Colby. A homemaker, she had been an Avon representative for more than 25 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Suzette Gibson, Littleton, Colo., and Catrina Gibson, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Sharlene Sarandrea, Castle Rock, Colo.; a half sister, Velma Barnett, Gem; her mother, Audra Schiffer, Littleton; and her grandmother, Velda Harp, Wichita.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society - Ovarian Cancer Research, in care of Valley State Bank, Syracuse, KS 67878.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was arranged by Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel, Colby. Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse, provided obituary information.

Samuel Sagastizado

Graveside service for Samuel Sagastizado, the infant son of Armida Sagastizado of 1402 W. Fulton St., was to be 2 p.m. today in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Richard Perez officiating.

Samuel was born Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City and died seven hours later at the hospital.

In addition to his mother, Samuel is survived by a brother, Erik Antonio Sagastizado, and a sister, Maritza Sagastizado, both of the home; and his grandmother, Ana Silvia Vasquez, Garden City.

Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, was in charge of arrangements.

Willa Phyllis "Billie" Harnar

ULYSSES - Funeral for Willa Phyllis "Billie" Harnar, 93, of Ulysses, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, with John Duran officiating. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Elkhart Cemetery.

Mrs. Harnar died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Morton County, the daughter of William and Della (Landry) Eversoll. She attended school at the Baptist Church and at Wild Rose, the country school, and went to high school at Elkhart.

On Oct. 14, 1925, she married Randall D. "Dink" Harnar at Richfield. A Ulysses resident since 1947, she owned Dink's Diner with her husband for 25 years. She had resided at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses since 1997.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and served as worthy matron in 1958 and continued in the Past Matron's Club. She served on committees for the Ulysses Harvest Festival, was active at the Grant County Senior Center, was a former treasurer of the Grant County Council on Aging, served on the sub-region and advisory board of the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging, and enjoyed participating in the Kitchen Kuties Band at the senior center.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Dragoo, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Edith Smith, Ethel Turner and Pearl Dubberly; and a brother, Bud Eversoll.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

William "Bill" Elliott

LAKIN - Vigil service for William "Bill" Elliott, 40, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakin. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Mike Helms officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.

Mr. Elliott died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

He was born April 16, 1960, at Garden City, the son of Warren D. and Kay (Cole) Elliott.

A lifetime resident of Lakin, he attended Lakin schools, graduated from Lakin High School in 1979 and from Garden City Community College in 1981.

Mr. Elliott worked as a parks superintendent for the City of Lakin. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Sheep Growers Association. He enjoyed taking care of his farm animals, hunting, trap shooting, fishing and trapping.

He is survived by his parents, Lakin; a brother, Brad Elliott, Lakin; a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Elliott.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials are suggested to the Education Fund for Catherine and Bryan Elliott, his niece and nephew, in care of the funeral home.

Suanne (Payne) Moore

ULYSSES - Funeral for Suanne (Payne) Moore, 49, of Ulysses, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, with Dr. Max Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at her home in rural Grant County.

She was born May 27, 1951, at Portales, N.M., the daughter of Robert B. and Joan (Berry) Payne.

Mrs. Moore had worked at Grant County Bank, Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Porter and Kreie, Amoco, and for the past several years was part owner and agent for the Moore Agency, all at Ulysses. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ulysses, had taught Sunday school, and was very involved with her children's 4-H and sports activities.

On July 21, 1973, she married Robert D. Moore at Sedan. He survives. Other survivors are a son, Robert Christian Moore, Ulysses; a daughter, Amy Cruth, St. Louis; her mother and stepfather, Joan and Leo Jantz, Cimarron; four brothers, Don Payne, Ingalls, Guy Payne, Beaver, Okla., Rex Payne, Satanta, and Jake Payne, Cimarron; a sister, Lisa Lloyd, Ingalls; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Gary Payne.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch-Girls Town at Amarillo, Texas, both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.

Jean Margaret Parsons

HUGOTON - Funeral for Jean Margaret Parsons, 82, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Hugoton, with the Rev. Rod Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Mrs. Parsons died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Pueblo, Colo.

She was born Feb. 27, 1918, at Liberal, the daughter of Eugene Ralph Sr. and Edith (Ward) Jones.

On July 17, 1942, she married W. Wayne Parsons at Westwood Village, Calif. He died March 23, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a brother, E.R. Jones Jr.

A homemaker, Mrs. Parsons spent most of her life in Hugoton, moving to Pueblo two years ago. She was a member of First Christian Church of Hugoton and P.E.O.

She is survived by a son, Robert Parsons, Hugoton; a daughter, Patricia L. McEvoy, Pueblo; and four grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Hugoton or the Alzheimer's Fund at Pueblo.

Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, is in charge of arrangements.
