Mark David Hankamer

Funeral for Mark David Hankamer, 27, of Dodge City, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church, Ashland, with the Rev. John Minow officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the National Guard.

Hankamer died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Kansas Highway 160 east of Protection.

He was born Aug. 13, 1973, at Dodge City, the son of David John Hankamer and Debra Harden. A former Ashland resident, he graduated from Ashland High School in 1990.

Hankamer was employed in the refrigeration/maintenance department of Excel Packing Corp. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard and the Presbyterian Church of Ashland.

Survivors include his great-grandmothers, Carol Spotts, Ashland, and Fern Hyten, Wellington; his grandparents, Richard and Betty Arnspiger, Ashland, John and Joyce Hankamer, Topeka, and Duane Harden, Ashland; his father, Olathe; his mother and stepfather, Debra and Don Harden, Garden City; three brothers, Christopher Inderlied and Scott Inderlied, both of Ashland, and Matthew Hankamer, Olathe; and three sisters, Ashley Oswalt, Topeka, Jana Harden, Garden City, and Molly Hankamer, Olathe. He was preceded in death by a sister, Heidi Marie Inderlied, on Jan. 13, 1980.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myatt Funeral Home, Ashland. Memorials to the Mark Hankamer Scholarship Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 578, Ashland, KS 67831.

Edward Frank

Vigil service for Edward Frank, 75, will be 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, followed by rosary. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military graveside rites conducted by the Garden City Area Veterans.

Mr. Frank died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Oct. 15, 1925, at Marienthal, the son of Joseph A. and Germaine (Leiker) Frank. He grew up and attended schools in Marienthal before the family moved to Garden City in the early 1940s.

On Nov. 24, 1948, he married Martha Marquardt at Garden City. They lived in Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal before moving back to Garden City in 1968. A self-employed carpet and tile layer since 1948, he pursued his interest in farming since returning to Garden City.

Mr. Frank was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge, a lifetime member of the VFW, was an assistant Scout Master of Troop No. 47 in Liberal, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Mike Frank, Phoenix, and Tim Frank, Ness City; a daughter, Nancy Carroll, Garden City; a brother, Herman Frank, Limon, Colo.; six sisters, Armella Brown, Liberal, Anna Marie Carter, Rowlett, Texas, Lenora Bird and Charlotte Baier, both of Wichita, Marcella Ochs, Warsaw, Mo., and Martina Roth, Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Frank; and a sister, Louise Burgardt.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.

Daisy Francene Dunnan

Daisy Francene Dunnan, 81, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

She was born April 3, 1919, in Ford County, the daughter of Reginald and Myrtle Frances (Camp) Ely. She attended schools in Dodge City.

A lifetime resident of the Dodge City area, she was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church and the Keenagers Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Yvetta Querbach, Sandia Park, N.M., and Cheryl Niblock, Garden City; two sons, Allen Lane Dunnan, Santa Maria, Calif., and Austin Dunnan, Dodge City; a sister, Katherine Aeschliman, Burbank, Calif.; a brother, Arron Ely, Benson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with Nolan Head officiating. Burial will be in Greencrest Cemetery, Dodge City.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Frances L. Dinning

Frances L. Dinning, 76, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, at Utica, Mo., the daughter of Jesse S. and Lydia Susan (Peppan) Morris, and grew up in Lawrence.

On May 24, 1941, she married James Dinning at Colby.

A Garden City resident since 1955, moving from Shallow Water, Mrs. Dinning was a homemaker and had also worked for several years at Dillons and Walls IGA. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and the outdoors.

She is survived by a son, Jesse Dinning, Cherryvale; a daughter, Sondra Gregory, Paris, Ark.; a sister, Wilitta Euliss, Ulysses; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Cox Weston; a son, James "Jimmy" Stephenson; and a grandson.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Paul Euliss Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

John V. Cossman

John V. Cossman, 96, of Jetmore, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Hodgeman County Health Center in Jetmore.

He was born Dec. 5, 1904, in Pawnee County, the son of John B. and Maggie (Layton) Cossman.

A farmer/stockman, he was a lifetime Hodgeman County resident. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hodgeman County Historical Society and the Rural School Board, and was awarded the Soil Conservation Award in 1972.

On Feb. 16, 1924, he married Dessie C. Glunt at Dodge City. She died April 29, 1986. He was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny; six brothers, Fred, Chester, Ted, Lester, David and Wayne; and one great-grandson.

Survivors include a son, James, Jetmore; two daughters, Thelma Maxwell, Dodge City, and Darlene Dugger, Kalvesta; a daughter-in-law, Mary Cossman, Jetmore; a sister, Vada Smiley, Garden City; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Jetmore, with the Rev. Mark Durham officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Hodgeman County Health Center, both in care of the funeral home.

Lloyd Junior "Casey" Casebolt

Funeral for Lloyd Junior "Casey" Casebolt, 68, of Winfield, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service, Winfield. Burial will follow in Ozro Cemetery southeast of Cedar Vale.

Mr. Casebolt died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.

He was born June 30, 1932, at Cedar Vale, the son of Lloyd Alfred and Neva Marie (Gordon) Casebolt. He attended school in Cedar Vale. As a young man, he hauled hay with his father and he was later employed with Western Motor Co., Winfield, as an auto mechanic.

Mr. Casebolt entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 5, 1953. He served in the Korean War and received many awards such as the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After being honorably discharged on Dec. 8, 1954, he returned to the Army Reserve to complete eight years of service under the Universal Military Training & Service Act.

In 1956, he married Helen Phillips. They divorced in 1963. On March 19, 1964, he married Lola Parris. They lived in Winfield where he worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. for a number of years. They later moved to Oklahoma City and then to Garden City.

In 1985, Mr. Casebolt retired after 10 years from Minter Wilson Drilling Co., Garden City, as the head foreman. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Eufaula, Okla. Following his wife's death on Nov. 24, 1997, he moved back to Winfield.

Mr. Casebolt was a member of Church of Christ at Canadian, Okla., and was active in the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, music, walking, and playing in the band for the handicapped.

Surviving family members include his mother, Winfield; his daughters, Cathy Heinz, Garden City, and Sandy Casebolt, Winfield; his adopted daughter, Helen Casebolt, Oklahoma; his brother, Marvin Casebolt, Wichita; his sister, Marilyn Denison, Overland Park; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two aunts; four nieces; and one nephew. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Lloyd; an infant daughter, Lois Elaine; and his father.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Medicalodge of Douglass, in care of the funeral home, 4001 E. Ninth Ave., Winfield, KS 67156.
