Genevieve Stoner

Funeral for Genevieve Stoner, 85, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mrs. Stoner died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Evergreen Gardens Assisted Living Center in Garden City.

She was born July 5, 1915, at Oxford, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Ricks) Forrest.

A Garden City resident since 1949, moving from Arkansas City, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and was a former member of two bridge clubs in Garden City.

On April 15, 1939, she married Homer O. Stoner at Arkansas City. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Richard Stoner, Garden City; two daughters, Mary Lee Martin, Lakin, and Nancy Wilken, Garden City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Bernadine Bell Choir, in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.

Gary Gene Davidson

CIMARRON - Gary Gene Davidson, 62, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, 4 1/2 miles north of Cimarron on Road 19.

He was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Gray County, the son of Joe L. and Thelma P. (Robinson) Davidson. He graduated from Cimarron High School.

Mr. Davidson had been a resident of Gray County for most of his life, with the exception of living in Dodge City for 12 years. A self-employed carpenter, he loved working with wood and perfected his skills in carpentry. He was a member of Cache Baptist Church of Lawton, Okla., and enjoyed his family.

He is survived by two sons, Douglas Lee Davidson, Cimarron, and Dr. Alan Neal Davidson, Sterling; a daughter, Connie Jo Lynch, Cimarron; a sister, Joan Davidson, Bakersfield, Calif.; his ex-wife, Freda Davidson, Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Valleyview Bible Church, Cimarron, with the Rev. Stuart Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Cimarron Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron. Memorials are suggested to Valleyview Bible Church, in care of the funeral chapel.

Agatha Driedger Rempel

MONTEZUMA - Agatha Driedger Rempel, 35, of Montezuma, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Goodwell, Okla. Her husband, George Blatz Rempel, also died of injuries suffered in the accident.

Mrs. Rempel was born Oct. 24, 1965, at Nuevo Ideal, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Driedger) Reddekopp. She and her husband were married Aug. 31, 1984, at Colonia A. Obregon, Mexico. They moved from Mexico to Montezuma in April 1998.

A homemaker, Mrs. Rempel was a member of Old Coloney Mennonite Church in Mexico and attended Mennonite Evangelical Church in Copeland.

She is survived by four sons, George Rempel, Johnny Rempel, Jacob Rempel and Benjamin Rempel, and a daughter, Anna Rempel, all of the home; her mother and stepfather, Anna and John Dyck, Zacatecas, Mexico; eight brothers, David Reddekopp, Jacob Reddekopp, Isaak Reddekopp, Peter Reddekopp and George Reddekopp, all of Mexico, John Reddekopp and Abram Reddekopp, both of Bolivia, South America, and Benjamin Reddekopp, Seminole, Texas; six sisters, Marie Giesbrecht, Susan Braun, Nettie Wall, Katherine Klassen and Trudy Bartch, all of Mexico, and Anna Guenther, Aylmer Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by her father and two sons, Jake Rempel and Benny Rempel, who both died on June 11, 1987.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mennonite Evangelical Church, Copeland, with the Rev. Leonard Barkman officiating. Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Montezuma Funeral Home.

George Blatz Rempel

MONTEZUMA - George Blatz Rempel, 36, of Montezuma, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Goodwell, Okla. His wife, Agatha Driedger Rempel, also died of injuries suffered in the accident.

Mr. Rempel was born March 9, 1964, in Campo No. 6 1/2 Cauauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Jacob Fehr and Aganetha Blatz (Siemens) Rempel. He and his wife were married Aug. 31, 1984, at Colonia A. Obregon, Mexico. They moved from Mexico to Montezuma in April 1998.

Mr. Rempel was a mechanic-welder with Max Jantz Construction in Montezuma. He was a member of Old Coloney Mennonite Church in Mexico and attended Mennonite Evangelical Church in Copeland.

He is survived by four sons, George Rempel, Johnny Rempel, Jacob Rempel and Benjamin Rempel, and a daughter, Anna Rempel, all of the home; his mother, Campo No. 72, Chihuahua; three brothers, Jacob Rempel, Mexico, Peter Rempel, Tabor, Alberta, Canada, and Benjamin Rempel, St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada; eight sisters, Anna Wiebe, Mexico, Maria Giesbrecht and Helena Boese, both of Alberta, Canada, Susane Heinrichs, Plains, Justina Reimer, Liberal, and Sara Banman, Aganitha Boese and Margareta Fehr, all of Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his father and two sons, Jake Rempel and Benny Rempel, who both died on June 11, 1987.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mennonite Evangelical Church, Copeland, with the Rev. Leonard Barkman officiating. Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Montezuma Funeral Home.

Anna C. Kuehler

Vigil service for Anna C. Kuehler, 90, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Chuck Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marienthal.

Mrs. Kuehler died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.

She was born May 11, 1910, at Windthorst, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Gremminger) Palkowitsh.

A homemaker, she had been a Garden City resident since 1972. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, both at Garden City.

On July 3, 1934, she married Herman B. Kuehler at Marienthal. He died March 9, 1995, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by a son, a great-grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Elmer Kuehler, Houston; a daughter, LaVerne Luebbers, Marienthal; two sisters, Sister Juliana Palkowitsh, Campbellsport, Wis., and Clara Forst, St. Paul; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to Terrace Garden Care Center, in care of the funeral home.

Cephas Andrew Long

MOSCOW - Cephas Andrew Long, 94, of Moscow, died early this morning, Dec. 12, 2000, at Minneola Nursing Home in Minneola.

He was born June 13, 1906, in Franklin County, the son of Sevalon Arthur and Martha Blake (Cavender) Long.

On Oct. 7, 1936, he married Ida Maye Meador at Grand Junction, Colo. They moved from Grady County, Okla., to Satanta in 1949. Later, they moved to Cimarron where he worked as a custodian at the Gray County Court House and they attended Church of the Nazarene in Cimarron. In 1981, they moved to Moscow where for the last 20 years he attended the United Methodist Church when his health permitted.

A farmer, he enjoyed tilling the soil. He had also worked as a plant operator for United Carbon Black Co., Ryus. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and also enjoyed company, preferring to listen rather than talking although he could spend hours discussing scripture.

Mr. Long was a charter member of Ulysses Freewill Baptist Church, and was an ordained Freewill Baptist minister, a Bible Study leader and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Andrew Long, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Arthur Thomas Long, Minneola; a daughter, Sevalan Maye Brollier, Moscow; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Amon Long; and three sisters, Ethel Whitten, Ruby Hansen and Martha Grace Martin.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Moscow, with the Revs. Larry Bradford and Josue Mora officiating. Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Moscow. Memorials are suggested to Freewill Baptist Church of Ulysses, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Lula M. Meyers

DEERFIELD - Lula M. Meyers, 86, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

She was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Gove County, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Snider) Smith. She attended a country school in Gove County and then worked on the family farm.

Shortly after marrying Grant Meyers on June 6, 1933, at Scott City, she and her husband moved to Kearny County and then to Arkansas and Oklahoma where they lived for seven years. In 1956, they returned to the Garden City and Deerfield area.

A homemaker, her special interests were canning, gardening and family activities. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Deerfield.

Her husband died Aug. 28, 1974. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Meyers and Shirley Meyers; a brother, Frankie Smith; a sister, Violet Smith; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include seven sons, Dara Meyers, Eunice, N.M., Grant Meyers Jr., Glenn Meyers, Leland Meyers, David Meyers and Donald Meyers, all of Deerfield, and Dale Meyers, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Anetta Meyers, Lakin, Ida Bolton, Deerfield, and Martha Langley, Phoenix; a sister, Ruby McGuire, Phillipsburg; 31 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Pyramid View Cemetery in Gove County.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to High Plains Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home.
