Elizabeth Mary Cerecero

HUGOTON - Elizabeth Mary Cerecero, 63, of Hugoton, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Oct. 6, 1937, at Kersey, Colo., the daughter of Fernando and Sinforosa "Jennie" Trujillo.

Mrs. Cerecero had been a Hugoton resident for 36 years, moving from Sterling, Colo., where she had met Sabas V. Cerecero. They were married June 18, 1956, at Julesburg, Colo.

She was a member of the Liberal Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

Survivors include four sons, Jim Cerecero, Adam "Amos" Cerecero, Claudio Cerecero and Sabas Cerecero Jr., all of Hugoton; two daughters, Dora Janet Foster and Flora Estrada, both of Hugoton; a brother, Jack Trujillo, Las Vegas; six sisters, Lena Vargas and Rosie Soto, both of Brush, Colo., Josie Saenz, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Francis Martinez, Erlinda Sanchez and Bonnie Kler, all of Sterling; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a sister, Tomasita Perez; and a brother, Ralph Trujillo.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, with Dave Bartian and Alfred Shaddy officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the World Wide Work Of Jehovah's Witnesses, in care of the funeral home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Mary Annabel "Anne" Lahey

ULYSSES - Mary Annabel "Anne" Lahey, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at her home in Ulysses.

She was born Oct. 24, 1926, at Ulysses, the daughter of Charles William and Mary Frances (McGillivray) Hickok. She graduated from Grant County High School in 1944, attended Dodge City Community College, and graduated from Kansas State University in 1949.

Mrs. Lahey was a school teacher in Grant County, Goodland and Liberal, was a Realtor in Washington State, and had worked at the Ulysses medical clinic as an insurance clerk for many years.

On July 22, 1956, she married Neal C. Lahey at Ulysses. Due to his service in the U.S. Air Force, the family lived in Massachusetts, Illinois, California and Washington State before returning to Ulysses in 1974.

Mrs. Lahey was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Ulysses Chapter No. 471 where she was a past worthy matron and held several other offices and received her 50-year pin in October 2000. She also belonged to the First United Methodist Church and The Twentieth Century Book Club. She loved reading, collecting Lladro and her doll collection.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kathryn A. Summers, Bakersfield, Calif., and Mary Margaret "Meg" Lahey, Ulysses; two brothers, Charles Edward Hickok, Fowler, and Donald U. Hickok, Ulysses; three grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, with Dr. Max Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospital Golden Belt Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice, all in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant St., Ulysses, KS 67880.

James W. Farnham

DIGHTON - Funeral for James W. Farnham, 63, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Mike Grogan and Kerry Grogan officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 190 of Dighton.

Mr. Farnham died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at his home in Dighton.

He was born July 30, 1937, at Monte Vista, Colo., the son of Bryant T. and Frances M. (Wolf) Farnham. He grew up and attended school at Cedaredge, Colo.

After his schooling he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After his discharge from the service he returned to Cedaredge and worked on a dairy. He then took G.I. training at a Ford garage in New Mexico.

He moved to Denver where he worked for the U.S. government at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal starting as a welder then moving to chief of building, grounds and utilities before advancing to utilities inspector. In 1998, he retired and moved to Dighton.

Mr. Farnham was a member of First Christian Church of Dighton and the Moose Lodge of Rifle, Colo. His special interests were fishing, camping in the mountains, gardening and growing flowers, and he especially enjoyed his family activities.

On June 7, 1958, he married Karen Taylor at Cedaredge. She survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Sharon Groom, Pine Bluff, Wyo., Martha Caballero, Woodland, Calif., and Debbie Penka, Dighton; a son, Dan Farnham, Pine Bluff; his mother, Frances Sinclair, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four brothers, Lloyd Sinclair, Denver, Raymond Sinclair, Colorado Springs, Fred Sinclair, Creede, Colo., and Terry Sinclair, Ashland, Ore.; three sisters, Shirley Farnham and Louise Nuttles, both of Utica, and Chrystal Andres, Colorado Springs; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, John Farnham; and a granddaughter.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Margaret Elaine McCalmont

SUBLETTE - Funeral for Margaret Elaine McCalmont, 83, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Sublette, with the Rev. Mary Al Titus officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.

Mrs. McCalmont died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

She was born Aug. 16, 1917, at Fowler, the daughter of Bertie S. and Ada V. (Brown) Green.

On Sept. 8, 1940, she married Maynard McCalmont at Dodge City. They owned and operated the McCalmont IGA Store for 50 years in Sublette, retiring in 1996.

Mrs. McCalmont was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 205 and the Modern Priscilla Club, all at Sublette.

Her husband died Aug. 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Riffe and Bobby Goddard.

Survivors include a daughter, Tania McNabb of Sublette, and two grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to Methodist Youth Fellowship, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Carola N. "Rollie" Baird

Carola N. "Rollie" Baird, 77, of Garden City, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born July 6, 1923, at Dodge City, the daughter of Frank M. and Edith (Lofthouse) Spaniol. She attended Dodge City schools, graduated from Dodge City High School, and attended Dodge City Community College for one year and Marymount Nursing School at Salina for one year.

Mrs. Baird worked as a Western Union operator during World War II in California. Having lived most of her life in the Garden City and Dodge City areas, she was a nurse's aide and ward clerk at St. Catherine Hospital and a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Garden City. Her hobbies were gardening, writing and music.

On May 5, 1946, she married Sherman Baird Jr. at Dodge City. He died May 24, 2000. She also was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Monte Mathias, Canyon, Texas, and Leslie Wagner, Holcomb; three sisters, Mary Peterson, Lindsburg, Feryl Romeiser, Salina, and Frankie Schraeder, Dodge City; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Eulogist will be Brent Schraeder.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Garden City Humane Society, in care of Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.

Patricia June Concannon

HUGOTON - Patricia June Concannon, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at her home in Hugoton.

She was born Oct. 11, 1931, at Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Earl T. and Dorothy (Patterson) Davis. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1949 and continued her education at Washburn University until marrying Don Concannon on Nov. 23, 1952, at Topeka.

After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Hugoton, where she became a homemaker, airplane pilot and founder of Patricia's, a ladies ready-to-wear shop in downtown Hugoton.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Debra Traster, Wichita; a son, Craig Concannon, Beloit; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chris Concannon; and a sister, Betty Smith.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Hugoton, with the Revs. Nel Holmes and Terrill Worthington officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Visitation hours at the church are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the Chris Concannon Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
