Jeanette D. Roehrman

Funeral for Jeanette D. Roehrman, 100, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti, with Chaplain Richmond Graham officiating. Burial will be in Wichita County Cemetery, Leoti.

Mrs. Roehrman died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

She was born April 28, 1900, at Hope, the daughter of Henry W. and Mary (Davis) Rhodes.

On Oct. 5, 1925, she married Lawrence Roehrman at Salina. They farmed for many years in Dickinson County before moving to Leoti in 1942. They moved to Garden City in 1976. He died Aug. 16, 1977, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

A homemaker, Mrs. Roehrman was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Leoti.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Roehrman, Glendale, Ariz., and Larry Roehrman, Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Shirley White, Milford, Mass., and Marilyn Andrews, Pierceville; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 tonight.

Memorials are suggested to Garden Valley Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home.

Albert Knoll

Funeral for Albert Knoll, 74, of Borger, Texas, was to be 2 p.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church, Borger, with Msgr. Norbert Keuhler officiating. Rosary was 7 p.m. Sunday at Minton Memorial Chapel, Borger. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mr. Knoll died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger.

A resident of Borger since 1970, he owned and operated the Dairy Queen until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active in Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Karen Knoll, Borger, and Janice Jones, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Edwin Knoll, and a sister, Odelia Wasinger-Stalter, both of Garden City; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a daughter, Tammy; and a grandson.

Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors, Borger, was in charge of arrangements.

Herman Gale Munson

Herman Gale Munson, 73, of Moscow died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital.

Mr. Munson was born Oct. 1, 1927, to Guy and Alma (Higby) Munson in Chandler, Okla.

He moved to Moscow in 1940 and had been an active member of the Moscow Baptist Church. A custom cutter and land leveler, Mr. Munson enjoyed fixing things.

He married Iva Palmer on Dec. 22, 1943, in Richfield, she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth L. Munson of Sublette and Darroll L. Munson of Moscow; two daughters, Janie Gilbert of Moscow and Barbara Williams of Hugoton; two brothers Guy Munson Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., and Omar Munson of Grand Prairie, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters died earlier.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the service at Paul's Funeral Home, 314 S Van Buren St., Hugoton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Moscow Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bradford presiding. Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Moscow Baptist Church in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Rex D. Barker

Funeral for Rex D. Barker, 66, a former area resident, was to be 2 p.m. MST today at the United Methodist Church, Sharon Springs, with the Rev. Bob Winters officiating. Burial was to follow in Sharon Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Barker died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at his home in Sharon Springs.

Born Feb. 3, 1935, at Modoc in Scott County, he was the son of Paul and Georgia (Daniels) Barker. He grew up and attended schools in Scott City, and worked as a farm hand where he helped his boss build an airplane before graduating from high school in 1952.

On Aug. 1, 1954, he married Janice E. McLeish. They lived in Leoti from 1963 to 1986. While there, he managed a variety store, which he and his wife later owned for 14 years. He was involved in the city council from 1973 to 1979, and in the Jaycees and Rotary from 1965 to 1986. After his divorce in 1986, Mr. Barker moved to Goodland where he managed the C-Mart from 1986 to 1988.

On Sept. 3, 1988, he married Rosalee Moore at Goodland. Later that year they moved to Sharon Springs and he took over the management of what is now known as the S&S Country Store where he worked until the time of his death.

Mr. Barker was involved in the Boy Scouts and in many community events and activities in his various places of residence, and had served in the National Guard for eight years. His favorite activities were golfing, being with his family, dancing and keeping in touch with his friends.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by three sons, Mitchel D. Barker and Rod E. Barker, both of Salina, and Todd L. Barker, Leoti; two daughters, Monica K. Campbell, Lakin, and Becky L. Berning, Garden City; his stepchildren, Robert H. Moore, Denver, Patty A. Mumford, Sterling, Colo., Carlene R. Stinnette, Bird City, and Alisa Plentywolf, Sharon Springs; three sisters, Doris Hemel, Wichita, Betty Wise, Miranda, Calif., and Jean Doris, Dighton; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorials are suggested to the Sharon Springs Golf Course, in care of Bateman Funeral Home, 103 N. Main St., Sharon Springs, KS 67758.

Carol Ann Bond

HUGOTON - Carol Ann Bond, 65, of Hugoton, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

She was born June 30, 1935, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Nels George and Opal Eileen (Purinton) Nelson.

On April 24, 1954, she married William C. "Bill" Bond at Hutchinson. They moved from Hutchinson to Hugoton in May 1962.

Mrs. Bond worked as a pipeline pilot for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for 18 years. She was the second woman in Kansas to receive an Air Transport Rating, logging more than 18,000 hours of flying. In addition to being a certified instrument flight instructor for single- and multi-engine planes, she was accomplished in quarter horse showing and did many projects in woodworking.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hugoton, the American Quarter Horse Association, International Women Pilots and the Ninety Nines Inc. She enjoyed her family, especially taking her grandchildren to horse shows.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Michael T. Bond, Ulysses, and Gregory W. Bond, Hugoton; a brother, Richard Nelson, Wichita; a sister, Donna Hutchins, San Ramon, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hugoton Cemetery, with the Rev. Rod Hinkle officiating.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton. Memorials are suggested to the Woodworking Department of Hugoton High School, in care of Citizen State Bank, Box 728, Hugoton, KS 67951.

William O. "Bill" Sander

William O. "Bill" Sander, 78, of Dodge City, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.

He was born March 25, 1922, at Muskegon, Mich., the son of Herman and Rosella (Shields) Sander. He grew up there and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Muskegon.

During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps and came to the Dodge City Air Base in 1943. He worked as a federal meat inspector for the USDA for many years, with his position serving the Dodge City and Garden City areas.

Mr. Sander was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2955, both at Dodge City.

On May 22, 1946, he married Marianna Heskamp at Spearville. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Dennis M. Sander, Sterling, Colo., and William J. Sander, Cimarron; a daughter, Anita Wills, North Platte, Neb.; a sister, Gaile Sander, Muskegon; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Sander; a grandson; and a brother, Donald Sander.

Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. John R. Strasser officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Spearville.

Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
