Jeffery Morris, 22, formerly of Arkansas City, died early Thursday morning, May 2, 2002, as a result of an accidental gunshot wound.
Cremation has been effected and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shipp of Arkansas City and Mrs. Daisy Roberts of Silver City, N.M.

Jack Murray, 88, of Udall, died Thursday (May 2, 2002), at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at the Church of the Nazarene in Udall.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Covington, Okla., City Cemetery.
He was born March 25, 1914, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Bowen B. and Ethel (Newson) Murray.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he worked as a GSA carpenter at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, for many years, retiring in 1978.
A memorial has been established for the Udall First Responders.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Henry Anderson, 79, of Arkansas City, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his home.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Samuel Joseph Arnett, newborn, of Arkansas City, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 8, at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield with Pastor Gale Rider officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Julius C. Powell, 96, of Winfield, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Union Cemetery in Winfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. that evening.
Mr. Powell was born May 5, 1905, to Mary Ida (Worley) and John Witten Powell in Sayre, Okla.
On Aug. 19, 1928, he married Viola R. Seaman in Wichita.
A memorial has been established in Mr. Powell's name for the First United Methodist Church in Winfield.
Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

John William Bruning, 76, of Winfield, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at William Newton Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield.
Military interment rites will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church before the services.
Memorials have been established in Mr. Bruning's name for the Trinity Lutheran Church and William Newton Hospital.

Retta Lee Timmons, 50, Udall, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
Interment will be in Sedan, Kan. Cemetery.
The casket will remain closed. A memorial has been established for Steps to Life, Mission programs.

John Howard Nation, 87, Winfield, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, in Highland Cemetery.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until 9 p.m. Friday.
The family will greet friends from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials have been established for Habitat for Humanity, the First United Methodist Church and the American Heart Association.

Edna Kate Pappan, 100, longtime Newkirk resident, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Medicalodge East Healthcare Center, Arkansas City.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the Washunga Cemetery, Newkirk, with Rev. Pernina Weatherman, minister of the Newkirk Assembly of God officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.

Joseph Leonard Brogan, 90, longtime resident of Moline, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline with Father Edward J. Steinberger officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline.
Rosary will be recited at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial has been established with the Pat Brogan Memorial Fund.

Mable I. Bohannan, 75, of Cedar Vale, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.

Interment will be at North Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home.

Mary Jo Williams, 84, of Winfield, died Sunday, (May 12, 2002, at William Newton Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 14 from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name to Winfield Arts & Humanities Council or Cowley County Humane Society.

Elizabeth Bailey Northcutt, 83, of Arkansas City, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City.
The Rev. Steve Chambers and the Rev. Harry Cunningham will officiate. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Arkansas City Public Library and the Central Christian Church.

Clarence Cunningham, 89, of Pratt, Kan., died Tuesday (May 14, 2002) at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 17 at the United Methodist Church in La Crosse, Kan., with the Rev. Kathy Bannister and the Rev. Thomas D. Sutter officiating. Interment will be in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Almeda Graves, 82, former Oxford resident, died at her home in Valley Center Thursday, May 16, 2002.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Oxford Funeral Service of Oxford.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and at the church Tuesday from 9 a.m. until just before service time. The casket will not be opened after the service.
A memorial has been established with the Tisdale United Methodist Church.
