Maya Elizabeth Schreibvogel

Maya Elizabeth Schreibvogel, month-old daughter of Sascha J. Schreibvogel and James Jackson of Garden City, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born March 11, 2001.

Survivors include her mother, of the home; her father, Garden City; a sister, Jada Schreibvogel, of the home; her grandparents, Melanie Schreibvogel, Newport, Ark., and James Jackson, Jacksonville, Fla.; and her great-grandparents, Bonnie and Jerry Schreibvogel, Garden City, and Hanna Lee Jackson, Raleigh, N.C.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr officiating. Friends may meet at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, by 10:45 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Beulah Lillian Hammons

Funeral for Beulah Lillian Hammons, 85, of Floydada, Texas, will be 11 this morning at Moore-Rose-White Memorial Chapel, Floydada. Her nephew, the Rev. Jimmy Morris, will officiate. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hammons died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born Dec. 19, 1915, at Ringling, Okla., the daughter of Charlie and Alice (Hawkins) Wade. She attended schools in Center Point, Okla.

On July 31, 1934, she married Henry Hammons. They moved from Cone, Texas to Floydada in 1954. He died Dec. 31, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include three sons, Von Hammons, Abilene, Texas, Ellie Hammons and Eddie Hammons, both of Floydada; three daughters, Patsy Barber, Garden City, Mary Vickers, Lubbock, and Nancy Welborn, Floydada; six brothers, Melvin Wade, Marietta, Okla., Chelsey Wade, Jake Wade, L.V. Wade, Orbble Wade and Atto Wade, all of Ringling; four sisters, Alpha Morris, Ella Morris, Drew Patrick and Ollie Joyce Patrick, all of Ringling; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Light the Cross, in care of American State Bank Ministerial Alliance Fund, 217 W. California, Floydada, TX 79235.

Charles T. Alexander

SATANTA - Charles T. Alexander, 69, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home in Satanta.

He was born Sept. 25, 1931, at Ulysses, the son of Madison and Caroline (Finke) Alexander.

A lifetime area resident, he worked in the oil fields, raised horses and farmed. He was a member of Satanta American Legion Post No. 276, Johnson City VFW Post No. 3684 and the American Quarter Horse Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On April 21, 1956, he married Kolene Tunis at Clayton, N.M. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Steve Alexander, Satanta; a daughter, Bonnie Stice, Hutchinson; three brothers, John Alexander, Satanta, Sam Alexander, Sun City, Calif., and Boyd Alexander, Caliente, Nev.; and three sisters, Mae Dieringer, Schulenburg, Texas, June Alexander, Satanta, and Jo Westwood, Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Satanta, with the Revs. Larry Myers and Ray Tweed officiating. Inurnment will be in Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Satanta, St. Catherine Hospice, Satanta First Baptist Church or the donor's choice, and may be mailed to the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877, or left at Shopping Stop True Value in Satanta.

Robert Laprell Dikes

Robert Laprell Dikes, 80, of Arizona, died Saturday, March 31, 2001.

He was born March 31, 1921, at Glendale, Ariz.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Asia Pacific Theater and was an Army Air Corp mechanic stationed in China with the Flying Tigers. He received the American Campaign Medal, Asia Pacific Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

After his military service, Mr. Dikes settled in Arizona with his family and had a career in auto mechanics with Smith Motor Sales and Biddoff Motor Co. for 30 years. Following his career with Biddoff, he owned and operated his own business with his son, Ron Dikes, in Glendale.

He is survived by two sons, Robert C. Dikes and Ronald W. Dikes; two daughters, Lee Fogleman and Julia Prince, Garden City; two sisters, Leo Dikes and Leonard Dikes; a sister, Leone Anderson; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bliss-Dikes; a daughter, Shirley Heili; two grandsons; and a brother, Clarence Dikes.

Funeral was 9 a.m. April 5 at Chapel of the Chimes, Glendale. Burial was in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Marion M. Wright

Marion M. Wright, 97, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at The Shepherd's Center in Cimarron.

She was born Feb. 4, 1904, at Barlow, N.D., the daughter of George S. and Alice E. (Buzzard) Frary.

On Dec. 12, 1925, she married Levi Arthur Wright at Dodge City. He died Aug. 9, 1997, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and one great-grandson.

A Garden City resident since 1962, moving from the Salem Valley community of Ingalls, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of the Brethren at Garden City, and enjoyed fishing with her husband, sewing and helping others.

She is survived by two sons, A.D. "Dave" Wright, Garden City, and Thayne H. Wright, Satanta; two daughters, Aileen M. Salem, Cimarron, and I. Coleen Werner, Dacona, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Beryl Wright officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to The Shepherd's Center or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.

Nancy Alice Roark

Funeral for former area resident Nancy Alice Roark, 89, of Cassville, Mo., was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. Bob Day officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield, Mo.

Mrs. Roark died Saturday, April 7, 2001.

She was born Feb. 10, 1912, in Barry County, Mo., the daughter of John F. and Lora (Wallen) Davis.

In 1933, she married Samuel Eugene "Gene" Roark. He died March 25, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, a brother and three sisters.

She received her education at Stoney Point School and Exeter High School, and received her nurse's training in Kansas and in Stella, Mo. Most of her nursing career was in Garden City and Ulysses. She moved back to Barry County in 1966, making her home in Cassville where she was a member of Cassville Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmie Roark, Cassville, and Johnnie Roark, Garden City; a brother, Lawrence Davis, Eagle Rock, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Antonio Ramond and Alexandra Jo Garcia

SUBLETTE - Antonio Ramond and Alexandra Jo Garcia, infant twins of Ramond Garcia and Erica Gonzales, were stillborn Sunday, April 8, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

They are survived by their father, Satanta; their mother, Sublette; a sister, Aunisty Gonzales, Sublette; grandparents, Juanita and Lenny VanEtten, Sublette, and Guadalupe and Ramon Garcia, Satanta; great-grandparents, Francis and Glendolyn VanEtten, Sublette, Dionicio Rios, Satanta, and Helen Sandoval, Garden City; and several aunts and uncles. They were preceded in death by their great-grandmother, Juana Rios.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta, with the Rev. Mike Garza officiating.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested for the family, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

William O. "Bill" Kinney

William O. "Bill" Kinney, 63, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Feb. 28, 1938, at Garden City, the son of George Ezra and Barbara (Johnson) Kinney. After graduating from Garden City High School and Garden City Junior College, he attended Emporia State University.

On June 22, 1958, he married Carolyn Blake at Garden City. They lived in Colorado before returning to Garden City in 1963 to establish Kinney Glass Co., which he owned and operated.

Mr. Kinney was a member of Community Congregational Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Elks Lodge No. 1404 and Southwind Country Club. An avid sports fan, he sponsored the Kinney Glass softball team for many years along with youth basketball and kids wrestling programs. He also enjoyed yard work and traveling.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Michelle Unruh and Lori Herrell, both of Garden City; two sons, William Kinney Jr., Holcomb, and Matthew Kinney, Garden City; three brothers, Frank Kinney, Oklahoma City, George Kinney, Hutchinson, and Curt Kinney, Garden City; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Community Congregational Church, Garden City, with Dr. R. Michael Lake officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Garden City Community College Endowment Association, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
