Marquerite Vogel Brown, 89, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Kiowa District Hospital in Kiowa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, at the Kiowa United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Cryderman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. The casket will be open at Lanman Funeral Home in Kiowa today, Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and from 2:30 until 7 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

Lula Marqarete (Cronk) Davis Schwartz, 89, Wichita, died Saturday, July 27, 2002. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today. A memorial has been established with the Mt. Olive Christian Church in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Michael A. Hockenbury, 18, Arkansas City, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sandy Newman officiating. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City High School Track Team. Contributions be made through the funeral home.

Frances B. Rice, 99, Cedar Vale, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the Cedar Vale Nursing Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home, Cedar Vale.

Arthur D. Cook, 73, Arkansas City, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral Services for Arthur Daniel Cook, 73, Arkansas City, who died Monday, July 29, 2002, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, with Rev. Buddy Cook, Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were C. Warren Nation, Joe Woodard, Jim Reed, Jeff Kennedy, Claude Reed, Herb Young and Richard Wesbrook.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Lillian "Katie" Kendrick, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at her daughter's home in Wichita. Graveside services will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Opal F. Campbell, 97, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her residence. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Maple City Cemetery. A memorial has been established with Arkansas City Senior Citizens Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

John Wesley Judie, 49, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Todd A. Proulx, 20, of Oxford, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from an auto accident in Oxford. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Oxford High School. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery. He was born April 12, 1982, in Winfield, the son of Armand Roland and Patrician Ann Dodge Proulx. Friends may call at Oxford Funeral Service, Oxford, from 3 until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends there Monday from 6 until 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established with the Winfield Inline Hockey team. Contributions may be left at Oxford Funeral Service.

Justin E. Croft, 18, of Oxford, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, in the Oxford High School gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. There will be no viewing. A memorial has been established in Justin's name at CornerBank in Oxford. Contributions may be made through the funeral home or at the bank.

Ruth J. Livingstn, 95, of Topeka, formerly of Carbondale, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Topeka Manor Care Center. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the Scranton United Methodists Church. Interment will be in Scranton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton United Methodist Church or to the Manor Care Activity Fund, and sent to Carey Funeral Home, Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413.

Isabel (Waite) Gates, 89, longtime Burden and Atlanta, Kan., resident, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Winfield Rest Haven. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Atlanta. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until 9 p.m. Monday.
A memorial in her name has been established for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Edwin Patterson Matthews, 94, of Eureka, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Medicalodge of Eureka. Graveside services will be today, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Coburn, pastor of the Christian-Congregational Church, officiating.
Contributions in his name may be made to the Christian-Congregational Church of Eureka, the Eureka Carnegie Library or Medicalodge of Eureka. They may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is in charge of service arrangements.

Graveside services for Lillian Grace Kendrick, 86, who died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Richard L. Nelson officiating. Music was by Jan and Jim Miller.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Mary J. Young, 77, formerly of Arkansas City, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the Haysville Nursing Center. Graveside funeral services for family and close friends, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, in Riverview Cemetery with Father Greg Sweeney officiating. Cremation has been effected. A memorial has been established with the Trinity Episcopal Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Roy "Steve" Hallman, 41, Tulsa, Okla., died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Lee Lambert, Jr. 75, Salina, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Salina. Cremation has been effected. Memorials have been established for the First Southern Baptist Church, Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center or the Alzheimer's Support group. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the Stanley and Son Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Mo., with Rev. Wyatt Shanks officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. James C. Hollifield officiating. Interment will be in Newkirk Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today. The casket will be open prior to service time on Friday, then closed. Memorials have been established with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the Eastman National Bank, Newkirk.

Anthony Francis Vap, 70, longtime Newkirk resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Via Christi Northern Oklahoma Medical Center. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church with Rev. Richard Beckman of St. Francis and Rev. John Michalicka of St. Mary's Catholic Church as celebrants. Interment will be in the Newkirk Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today and Friday until 6 p.m. when the casket will be taken to the church. A memorial has been established with St. Francis Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through Eastman National Bank, Newkirk.

A memorial has been established with Grace Episcopal Church Endowment Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home or to the church.

Billy Ray Walcher died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at his home. There will be no services, in accordance with Bill's wishes. La Vonne L. Shaff died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at her home in Herlong, Calif. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Memorial Lawn Chapel with Pastor Gale Rider officiating. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Susanville, Calif., on June 7, 2002. Cremation has been effected.

Military honors were by Spencer-Ralston Post No. 1254, VFW, with Commander Clyde H. Hatcher and Chaplain Bob Banta.
