Cecil Birt Adamson
Graveside service for Cecil Birt Adamson, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was 10 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
Mr. Adamson died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Colorado Springs.
A resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1950, he was owner and operator of The Ambassador and Mecca Motel. He served with a medical unit in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On April 8, 1971, he married Catherine Bargman. She preceded him in death as did a brother, Leland Dale Adamson, and his parents.
Survivors include a sister, Erma Adamson of Garden City.

Fred Chaffin
Fred Chaffin, 80, of Garden City, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
He was born May 9, 1921, at Bolton, the son of Roy and Osa (Lindley) Chaffin. He grew up in Independence and attended school there until the family moved to Holcomb in the 1930s. His family then moved to Yates Center, where he graduated from high school in 1939. He attended Independence Junior College where he also played football.
Mr. Chaffin served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, serving as a medical technician, first at O'Riley General Hospital and later in Brazil.
After the service, he graduated with a bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State. He then started teaching and coaching football, basketball and track in Palco, Atchison and Stafford, and taught in Garden City from 1958 to 1961. During the summer months, he took classes and received a master's degree in administrative education from the University of Missouri.
After his retirement from teaching in 1961, he maintained his love for football and track by working as a referee and track starter. He also sold life insurance in southwest Kansas and later worked as a warehouse supervisor at Machine Supply in Garden City for several years.
Mr. Chaffin was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, helped start the bus program and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He also belonged to American Baptist Men, Senior Center of Finney County and the Ambassador Singers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Connie McAfee, Garden City, and Cathy Rice, Paradise, Texas; a sister, Marguerite Van Dolah, Cheyenne, Wyo.; a grandson; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Garden City. Carley Hazelton, pastor, will officiate. A private family committal service will take place later.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Camp Christy at Scott Park or the High Plains Retirement Village Special Care Unit, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Aurora R. Rodriguez
LEOTI - Vigil service for Aurora R. Rodriguez, 82, will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Leoti. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Mrs. Rodriguez died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at her home in Leoti.
A homemaker, she had been a Leoti resident since 1964. She belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Christian Curillo Movement.
On Feb. 28, 1935, she married Miguel Rodriguez in Mexico. He survives. Other survivors are three sons, Pascual R. Rodriguez, Garden City, Jose R. Rodriguez, Idalon, Texas, and Robert R. Rodriguez, Leoti; a daughter, Sandra Maestas, Leoti; a brother, Manuel Rangel, Dallas; two sisters, Augustina Rangel, Dallas, and Loreto Cerna, Mexico; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to the Leoti Emergency Medical Technicians, in care of the funeral home.
Rachel Elizabeth Lampe
Funeral for Rachel Elizabeth Lampe, 69, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Lyle Stuehrenberg officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Nashville, Kan.
Mrs. Lampe died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Jan. 27, 1932, at Cunningham, the daughter of Jasper and Grace (Parr) Barkley.
A Garden City resident since 1960, moving from Pratt, she had been a waitress and manager in several Garden City restaurants. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
On Aug. 16, 1956, she married Merlin Lampe at Clayton, N.M. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Kevin Lampe, Garden City; three daughters, Pam Esslinger, Sublette, Anita Motto and Robyn Roth, both of Garden City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Lampe; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials to the Rachel E. Lampe Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
Timothy Allen Sawyer
TRIBUNE - Memorial service for Timothy Allen Sawyer, 47, will be 11 a.m. MST Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Keith Fink officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
Mr. Sawyer died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Tribune.
He was born Sept. 18, 1953, at Collbran, Colo., the son of Clarence and Joy (Hamann) Sawyer.
A longtime resident of Tribune, he was a carpenter. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a former Boy Scout, Troop No. 37.
Survivors include his parents, Tribune; two sisters, Ginger Johnson, Arvada, Colo., and Janine Baehler, Sharon Springs; his grandmother, Melva Hamann, Tribune; a nephew; a niece; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by three grandparents; and a brother, Thomas, in 1953.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials are suggested to Greeley County Boy Scouts Troop No. 37, in care of the funeral home.
Gregory Jason Weimer
Gregory Jason Weimer, the infant son of Gregory Jason Kyler and Melissa S. Weimer of Wichita, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, shortly after his birth.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Anthony and Aaron Weimer, both of the home; his grandparents, Larry and Barbara Weimer, Garden City, and Lisa Kyler, Maryland; and his great-grandparents, Lillian Greene and Leroy Greene, both of Maryland.
Graveside service was 2 p.m. Saturday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Janet Hernandez officiating.

Jack Lowrey Willis
HUGOTON - Jack Lowrey Willis, 74, of Hugoton, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Stevens County, the son of Lowrey and Lenora A. (Hodges) Willis.
A lifetime resident, he was a retired farmer, having farmed for most of his life.
On March 29, 1946, he married Lillie M. Milburn at Liberal. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Richard, Roger and Phillip Willis, all of Hugoton; a daughter, Lois Hedrick, Cheney; two brothers, Warren and Dois Willis, both of Hugoton; two sisters, Goldie Williams, Hugoton, and Annis Belle Stremel, Liberal; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Archie Willis; a brother, Tommy Willis; a sister, June McClure; and a twin sister, Betty Willis.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Hugoton Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Bailey officiating.
