Mary Kaiser

Funeral for Mary Kaiser, 93, of Collyer, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer, with the Revs. Donald F. Pfannenstiel and Basil Torrez officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery, Collyer.

Mrs. Kaiser died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.

She was born March 11, 1908, at Odessa, Canada, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Weimer) Knoll.

A homemaker, she also ran Mary's Cafe in Collyer for many years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its Altar Society, both at Collyer.

Mrs. Kaiser had lived in Collyer since moving from Canada following her marriage to Bill Kaiser on May 26, 1930, in Canada. He died May 22, 1977. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Fred Knoll; a sister, Frances Ziegler Schneider; and an infant sister.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip J. Kaiser, Abilene, and Ralph J. Kaiser, Garden City; two daughters, Frances M. Belleau, Hill City, and Betty Ann Geschwentner, Denver; five brothers, Joe, Raymond, Walter, Phillip and Jake Knoll, all of Canada; three sisters, Margaret Klien, Kate Deck and Anastasia Weisgerber, all of Canada; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 8 tonight at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, with a wake service beginning at 7 tonight. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Loui R. Beyreis

LAKIN - Graveside service for Loui R. Beyreis, 86, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lakin Cemetery.

Mr. Beyreis died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

He was born April 10, 1915, at Cimarron and attended Liberal schools.

Most of his adult life was spent working for farmers in the Ingalls area. He moved from Garden City to Lakin in 1989.

Visitation hours are from 3 to 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin.

Dean M. Letourneau

Dean M. Letourneau, 72, of Garden City, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at The Hospice of the Texas Medical Center in Houston.

He was born June 11, 1929, at Aurora, the son of Ronald and Reina (Morrisette) Letourneau.

A Garden City resident since 1967, moving from Hutchinson, he was a retired salesman for National Cash Register. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, the American Legion and Knights of Columbus, and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

On June 12, 1954, he married Shirley Nichols at Garnett. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Craig Letourneau, Houston, and Brent Letourneau, Loudonville, N.Y.; a daughter, Sheri Denton, Garden City; a brother, Ray Letourneau, Wichita; a sister, Bella Haynie, Manhattan; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a twin sister, Jean Letourneau.

Vigil service and rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials to the Dean M. Letourneau Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.

Lloyd E. "Gilly" Gilmore

LEOTI - Lloyd E. "Gilly" Gilmore, 70, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

He was born Oct. 2, 1931, at Leoti, the son of George Jeff Sr. and Marion Francis (Robison) Gilmore.

A lifetime resident of Leoti, he was a farmer, rancher and truck driver. He belonged to the United Methodist Church and the American Legion, was a former member of the Wichita County Amusement Association and Wichita County Rodeo, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, holding the rank of Airman Second Class.

On July 15, 1956, he married Waunita Graf at Leoti. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Rick E. Gilmore, Leoti; a grandson; two sisters, Margaret Irene Bauck and Ruth Asmussen, both of Leoti; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Carl W., Melvin J. and George Jr.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Leoti, with the Rev. Rick Just officiating. Burial will be in Wichita County Cemetery, Leoti.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to the Leoti Emergency Medical Technicians, Wichita County Amusement Association or the United Methodist Church, all in care of the funeral home.

Mary N. (Hammontree) Ramsey

Mary N. (Hammontree) Ramsey, 87, of Salina, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001.

A homemaker, she was born Feb. 2, 1914, at Salina.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Ramsey; a son, Ray Fox, Garden City; two stepsons, Carl C. Ramsey Jr., Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jerry J. Ramsey, Plano, Texas; two daughters, Kay Soderberg, Salina, and Ann Newton, Ozona, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Ruth M. Higgins, Leawood, Peg I. Reimer, Overland Park, and Jane A. Haney, Olathe; a sister, Fern Lindsley, Salina; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. Her first husband, Ferris Fox, died Nov. 5, 1960.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at University United Methodist Church, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Salina.

Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, KS 67401.

Ralph Bless Sr.

LAKIN - Ralph Bless Sr., 71, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

He was born April 10, 1930, in Kearny County, the son of Frank and Lena (Smith) Bless. While growing up in Kearny County and Lakin, he farmed with his family.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean conflict. After the service, he returned to Lakin. In 1956, he moved to Southern California where he owned and operated a concrete contracting business, Bless Bros. Inc., with his brothers. After retiring in the late 1980s, he continued to live in Southern California until returning to Lakin in 1992.

Mr. Bless was a member of the Lakin Gun Club, National Rifle Association and the A.T.A., and enjoyed shooting trap.

On Dec. 2, 1956, he married Helen J. Millirons at Las Vegas. She died March 1, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Denny Bless.

He is survived by a son, Ralph Bless Jr., Atlanta; a daughter, Robin Adams, Dodge City; four brothers, Delbert and Larry Bless, both of Visalia, Calif., and Corky and Jim Bless, both of Lakin; two sisters, Pat Carter, Ulysses, and Phyllis Wilson, Topeka; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lakin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Bolz officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, in care of the funeral home, 508 N. Main St., Lakin, KS 67860.

Alice Koehn

MONTEZUMA - Funeral for Alice Koehn, 90, of Montezuma, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma. Kalvin Salsbury, Harold H. Koehn and Glen Yost, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma.

Mrs. Koehn died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma.

She was born April 13, 1911, at Tampa, the daughter of Eli B. and Adina (Eck) Jantz. The family moved from Tampa to Montezuma in 1914.

Mrs. Koehn was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma.

On Aug. 3, 1930, she married Raymond Koehn at Montezuma. He died Aug. 30, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Walter, Harvey and Homer Lee Jantz; and a sister, Evelyn Jantz.

She is survived by four sons, Paul L. Koehn and Earl Koehn, both of Montezuma, Leroy Koehn and Lawrence Koehn, both of Copeland; three daughters, Fern Jantz, Montezuma, Delores Unruh, Moundridge, and Valetha Koehn, Burns; two brothers, Elmer Jantz and Clifford Jantz, both of Burns; two sisters, Erma Koehn and Frances Koehn, both of Montezuma; 23 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc., in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
