Andy Edward Galloway

Funeral for Andy Edward Galloway, 84, a former educator in western Kansas, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Winscott Road Funeral Chapel in Benbrook, Texas, with the Rev. Steve Fish officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park at Fort Worth, Texas.

Mr. Galloway died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in Fort Worth.

A retired school superintendent, he was active in his community, serving on educational and community projects, working with Meals on Wheels and in his church. He enjoyed helping people.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Galloway, Fort Worth; a son, Gary Galloway, and a daughter, Pam Galloway, both of Fort Worth; a grandson; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Evelyn James, Fruitland, Idaho, Waunnabelle Knox, Kalama, Wash., and Velma Galloway, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Robert and Auburn Galloway, both of Kalama, and Chester Galloway, Lyons, Colo.

Visitation hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at Winscott Road Funeral Home, Benbrook.

Robert 'Buddy' Duvall

Robert Dale "Buddy" Duvall, 68, a former Garden City resident, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at his home in Huntsville, Ala., after a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 28, 1933, the second child of Thomas Olonzo and Evelyn Mozelle Dale Duvall. He attended elementary school in Alba, Mo., and attended high school in Garden City, where he was an honor student.

Mr. Duvall was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from October 1952 through October 1956. He retired in December 1994 from The Boeing Co., where he maintained the analog computers, and from Unisys, where he was senior field engineer working on various government contracts.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Lynn Duvall, Huntsville; his mother, Evelyn Duvall Cole, Garden City; two sons, Michael Robert Duvall and Kerry Lee Baker, both of Huntsville; a daughter-in-law; three grandchildren; seven sisters, Ruth Ann Duvall Plankenhorn, Verna Duvall Chappell, Leona Duvall Huber and Theda Paxson William, all of Garden City, Asyneth Duvall Martin, South Hutchinson, Darlene Duvall Van Campen, Oklahoma City, and Catherine Paxson Knoll, Topeka; and a brother, Billy Paxson, Garden City. His father died in January 1946.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, Huntsville, with Dr. Mark Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Gardens at Valhalla.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may choose flowers or, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Duvall Equipment Fund at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alumni Affairs Office, Huntsville, AL 35899.

Nelsoline Dreiling

A scripture/rosary service for Nelsoline A. Dreiling, 78, of Holly, Colo., will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, Holly. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Msgr. William Doll as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holly Cemetery.

Mrs. Dreiling died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, following a recent illness.

She was born Sept. 7, 1924, at Fulton, the daughter of Nelson T. and Violet E. Gorman.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Anton "Tony" Dreiling, of the family home in Holly; seven children, Tonya Dupree, Tribune, Tana Stadjuhar, Omaha, Neb., Arthur Dreiling of Holly, Steve Dreiling, Denver, Timothy Dreiling, Lancaster, Calif., Richard Dreiling, Fort Collins, Colo., and Gregory Dreiling, Fort Morgan, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, in 1964; her mother, in 1993; an infant son, Richard Thomas Dreiling, in 1948; four brothers, Pat and Gene Gorman, and twins Joseph William and Bill Gorman; and a sister, Betty Durborow.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel, Holly. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148, or in care of the funeral chapel, 119 S. Main St., Holly, CO 81047.

Wallace Edward Wilson

Funeral for Wallace Edward Wilson, 85, of Garden City, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Donald E. Carter officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with graveside rites conducted by Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Wilson died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Jan. 31, 1917, at Lexington, Okla., the son of Fred and Christina Etling Wilson. He grew up in Belpre and later moved with his family to a farm near Sublette. He graduated from Sublette High School in 1935 and from Garden City Junior College in 1937.

During World War II, he served in the 249th Signal Operations Company of the U.S. Army. He reached the rank of Master Sergeant and was stationed in the African and European theaters.

After his discharge from the service, he returned to Garden City and was employed with Prudential Insurance Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1979.

Mr. Wilson was a member of First Christian Church of Garden City, where he was elder emeritus of the church, a Sunday School superintendent and a choir member, and was a Boy Scout Master. He enjoyed playing pool, especially 3-cushion billiards and snooker, playing dominoes, working in his garden where he grew cherry and willow trees to sell, and being around children.

On May 4, 1941, he married Florence Wadsack at Garden City. She survives. He also is survived by three sons, Tom Wilson, Boca Raton, Fla., Calvin and Marvin Wilson, both of Garden City; a brother, John Wilson, Forsan, Texas; a sister, Helen Morrill, Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons; a brother, Loren Wilson; and two sisters, Margaret Hull and Wilhelmina Stephenson.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Florence Wilson Elementary School Library, both in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.

Helen Irene Stewart

DIGHTON - Helen Irene Stewart, 83, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Lane County, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

She was born Aug. 6, 1919, on the family farm in Lane County, the daughter of Charley Francis and Emma Luzella Bush Conner. When she was 4, she began her schooling in a rural one-room schoolhouse. Her education continued in the Dighton school district when her family moved to town in 1929.

On Dec. 4, 1937, she married Myron T. Stewart at Littleton, Colo. They owned and operated the Stewart's Cafe in 1943. An excellent seamstress, she later enjoyed working in the fabric department of Mull's Department Store and Whiting's Department Store. She also was a salesclerk for Herman's Jewelry in Dighton. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Fort Dodge.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both at Dighton.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Mike Stewart, Denver; five daughters, Luzella Schwartz, Littleton, Lynda Patterson, Dodge City, Patti Smith, Grand Island, Neb., Debbie Seeley, Wichita, and Bonnie Venters, Dighton; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Stewart; two sisters, Pearl Lloyd and Velma Arnold; four brothers, Paul, Harry, Floyd and Leo Conner; an infant brother; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Rev. Ben Friesen officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, both in care of the funeral home.

Rose 'Marie' Kells

SATANTA - Rose "Marie" Kells, 76, of rural Satanta, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at The Shepherd's Center in Cimarron.

She was born Nov. 23, 1925, at Garden City, the daughter of Samuel D. and Ruth Amelia Lindeman Snavely.

A lifetime resident of Haskell County, she was a homemaker. She belonged to Bible Christian Church of Garden City and was a former member of Valley Grange in rural Satanta.

On Aug. 18, 1945, she married Russell T. Kells at Garden City. He survives. She also is survived by two sons, Donald D. Kells and Darcy Kells, both of rural Satanta; two daughters, Karolyn J. Kells, Hays, and Kristi R. Cole, rural Satanta; three sisters, Nita Draper, Salt Lake City, Louise Grabast, Arlington, Texas, and Ruby Rutledge, Sublette; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lewis Snavely.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bible Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Jeff Starkey and David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Bible Christian Church Academy of Garden City or The Shepherd's Center of Cimarron, both in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Robert A. Austin

SCOTT CITY - Robert A. Austin, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at his home in Scott City.

He was born Aug. 7, 1931, at Pottsville, Ark., the son of Herman Alton and Wathia May Keener Austin.

A Scott City resident since 1950, moving from Pottsville, he worked for 35 years at Presta Oil Co., and then at Bruce's Carpet & Tile for five years before retiring. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scott City.

On Aug. 21, 1949, he married Bernice Burris. She died Feb. 27, 1976. He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Jean Austin.

On Jan. 29, 1983, he married Betty Shelton at Scott City. She survives. He also is survived by a son, Mike Austin, Graham, Wash.; three stepsons, Allen Shelton, Garden City, Steve Shelton, Scott City, and Craig Shelton, Dubois, Wyo.; two stepdaughters, Sherry Brooks, Broomfield, Colo., and Nikki Geier, Garden City; a daughter, Liz Lewis, Scott City; a brother, Joe Austin, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Wanda Shirley, Edmond, Okla., and Sue Jackson, Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Mike McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to Scott County Hospital Home Health, in care of the funeral home.

Helen B. Johnson

LAKIN - Helen B. Johnson, 85, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at her home in Lakin.

She was born Oct. 3, 1917, at Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of James Thomas and Edith Jane Fox Brashier. The family moved to Concord, Tenn., when she was young. She attended schools in Farragut, Tenn.

On July 7, 1934, she married Harry Taylor Johnson at Concord. They lived in various places before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1958.

Her husband died Dec. 3, 1989. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Edith Jane Erwin and Katherine Knott; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson moved to Lakin in 1990. She was a member of Deerfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed china painting, sewing, ceramics, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by a son, Bill Johnson, Lakin; a daughter, Glenda Woodcox, Muncie, Ind.; a brother, James Willard Brashier, Concord; two sisters, Ruth Loy of Concord and Linda Hale of Nashville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private family service and graveside service are planned for later.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Corinth United Methodist Church in Muncie, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 508 N. Main St., Lakin, KS 67860.
