The Rev. Clyde S. Clark

The Rev. Clyde Staton Clark, 93, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at his home in Powdersville, S.C.

He was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Hackett, Ark., the son of John J. and Dellah Cox Clark. He attended high school at Methodist Academy in Valley Springs, Ark. He graduated from Hendrix College in 1933 and from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in 1935.

Mr. Clark served as minister at several churches in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Louisiana. In 1976, after serving as district superintendent in the Louisiana Conference, he was appointed to organize the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana. He served as director until his retirement in 1980.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathryn Lund Clark; two sons, Norman Clark of Garden City, and Skyler Duckett of Liberty, S.C.; a daughter, Sherri D. Nilsson of Easley, S.C.; a brother, Farris Clark of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Sue Altabelle Gates Clark, his wife of 23 years.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Alta Vista Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 823 Merchant St., Emporia, KS 66801, or to the donor's choice.

Della Alice McCue

LAKIN - Della Alice McCue, 92, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Mo.

She was born March 19, 1911, near Garden City, the daughter of John Craig and Bessie Lorena Stutzman McClurkin.

On June 6, 1936, she married Basil Cyrus McCue. He died Oct. 26, 1964.

Mrs. McCue completed the requirements for a teaching certificate from Garden City Junior College. She worked for AAA (a government farm program) as a substitute home demonstration agent and started H.U.D.'s in neighborhoods without them and also helped start 4-H clubs. She also helped her husband on the family farm near Lakin. She was a member of Tri-Lakes Christian Church of Branson, and was active in the church and taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School class.

She is survived by two sons, Basil Craig McCue of Pearsall, Texas, and Linus McCue of Hollister, Mo.; two daughters, Lois Groman of Hollister, and Leta Downing of Edmond, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Friday at Lakin Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald E. Carter officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Tri-Lakes Christian Church, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 508 N. Main St., Lakin, KS 67860.

Gary K. Berry

Gary K. Berry, 58, of McCook, Neb., died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.

He was born May 16, 1944, at McCook, the son of Carroll E. and Clara E. Ruby Berry. He grew up in McCook, where he competed his junior year in high school before entering the U.S. Army.

He was a commercial truck driver from 1975 until 1989 when he became the head of custodial and maintenance services at McCook City Schools. He earned his General Educational Development degree in 1984 from Colby Community College.

Mr. Berry was a member and a deacon at First Congregational Church in McCook, and a former member of the McCook Elks Lodge and Eagles Club.

On March 5, 1965, he married Faye Sinclair at McCook. He married Janet LaBlank on Nov. 12, 1976, at Scott City. On Aug. 4, 1984, he married Judy Vinton.

He is survived by four daughters, Kandis Schilling, Teresea Whetstone and Brandy May, all of Garden City, and Sara Herren of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Berry of Oberlin, Carroll Berry of Arvada, Colo., and Robert Keen of McCook; and four sisters, Diane Slagle of St. Libory, Neb., Deanna Sekyra of Grand Island, Neb., Terre Bredvick and Debbie McNutt, both of McCook. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, McCook, with the Rev. Phil Ewert officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury and Marion Cemetery at Danbury, Neb.

Visitation is at Herrmann Funeral Home, McCook. Memorials in Mr. Berry's name may be sent to the funeral home, 607 Norris Ave., McCook, NE 69001.

Margerie Hagerman

ULYSSES - Margerie Hagerman, 74, of Ulysses died Saturday April 5, 2003 at the Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses.

She is the daughter of Julius Abner and Velma Antnett Giles. She was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Joppa, Ala. When she was five her family moved to Brackenridge, Texas. Later they moved to Satanta and she graduated from high school there.

Mrs. Hagerman married Frederick Hagerman March 28, 1947 in Dodge City. After they married, they moved to Ulysses, then Aurora, Colo. and then back to Ulysses.

She loved her family and enjoyed being with them. Her hobbies included crocheting and embroidering.

She was a secretary for the Columbia Carbon Co. for 12 years. She worked for Dr. Cora Drake and then Marvin's Farm equipment as a secretary. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ulysses.

Mrs. Hagerman is survived by two sons Kenneth Hagerman, Ulysses, and Terry Hagerman, Leander, Texas; two daughters Debra Rinehart, Mansfield, Texas, and Freda Wooten, Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers Orval "Bud" Giles, Fort Worth, Texas, and Clyde Giles, Satanta; three sisters Mary Gibson, Guymon, Okla., Roberta Lewis, Rolla, and Anita Brown, Sublette; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Hagerman, her parents, two brothers J.A. Giles, Jr. and Aubra Giles, one sister Jettie Lea Giles and one granddaughter Molly Annette Morava.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2003 at the Church of Christ, Ulysses, with Pastor Warren Baldwin presiding. Burial will be in the Ulysses Cemetery.

Grant County Funeral Home, Ulysses, is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.

A memorial was established for the Church of Christ College scholarship. Memorials may be mailed to Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, KS 67880.

Tempie Lamberson

ULYSSES - Tempie Lamberson, 90, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses.

She was born Sept. 13, 1912 in Duncan, Okla., to Josephius and Virginia Overton.

She was a resident of Ulysses since 1954, and was a cook for schools and restaurants as well as a homemaker. She married Wilber Lee Lamberson Oct. 28, 1928 in Temple, Okla. He died Oct. 31, 1979.

She is survived by ten sons Gene Lamberson, Liberal, Earl Lamberson, Dallas, Texas, Kenneth Lamberson, Kernesville, N.C., Arcine Lamberson, Ulysses, Glynn Lamberson, Richland, Wash., Rod Lamberson, Sublette, Gail Lamberson, Ulysses, Garry Lamberson, Kennewick, Wash., Wayne Lamberson, Ulysses, David Lamberson, Garden City; one daughter Virginia Kilburn, Independence, Mo.; seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son James Lamberson, one great-grandchild, four brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, with Rev. Sam Bynum and Rev. Bill Harrold presiding. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Friends may call 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.

Memorials may be given to Western Prairie Care Home in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant St., Ulysses, KS 67880.

Juanita Delores Blackburn

HUGOTON - Juanita Delores Blackburn, 62, Hugoton, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

The daughter of Manuel and Lola Roybal Sr., she was born October 11, 1940 in Clayton, N.M.

She spent most of her life in the Hugoton and Guymon, Okla., area.

She married Larry Blackburn Sept. 19, 1998 in Satanta.

A homemaker, Mrs. Blackburn enjoyed spending time with her family, and her hobbies included cooking, writing poetry and target shooting. She cared for the elderly in Hugoton and cleaned homes for a living.

She was a member of My Father's House, Hugoton.

Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her husband of the home, three sons Charles Ray Kerbo, Guymon, Okla., Jack Kerbo, Mountainair, N.M., and Lyndale Kerbo, Mountainair, N.M.; three daughters Lola Kerbo, Liberal, Marcia Kerbo, Liberal, and Alecia Kerbo, Hugoton; one brother Manuel Roybal Jr., Guymon, Okla.; three sisters Marcia Ramirez, Guymon, Okla., Lynda Garcia, Canyon, Texas, and Georgia Delayo, Guymon, Okla.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Ernest, Ralph and Gilbert Roybal and one sister Dorothy Roybal.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the First Church of God, Hugoton, with Rev. Donald Roybal, Pastors Keith and Pam Peachey and Pastor Bill Vincent presiding. Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery.

Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial is established for My Father's House, Hugoton. Memorials may be mailed to Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67851.
