JOE TRAUTWEIN died May 18, 2013 at 1433 3rd St, Clay Center, KS at the age of 83. He was born on August 29, 1929 in Green, Kansas the son of Martin Trautwein and Grace Appleton.

Joe was raised in Clay County, Kansas and graduated from Clay County Community High School. He married Phyllis Berlin on May 6, 1949 and she survives of the home. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a printer by trade all his life starting with the Clay Center Dispatch and then in 1969 he owned and operated the Printery until retiring. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, B.P.O.E. and former member of the Jaycees all of Clay Center. He was preceded by 3 brothers, Robert, Wayne and Russell and a sister Geraldine Withrow.

Survivors include:

Wife: Phyllis Trautwein, Clay Center, KS

Son: Scott and wife Patty Trautwein, Manhattan, KS

Daughter: Susan and huband Mark Meier, Clay Center, KS

Daughter: Shelley Crane, Raymore, MO

Grandchildren: 6 grand and 2 great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on 9:00 am until service time at the United Methodist Church

Memorials can be made to Clay Center United Methodist Church

Howard Steele
(Died May 18, 2013)

HOWARD STEELE died May 18, 2013 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 82. He was born in Washington County near Enosdale, KS, son of Talmage and Florence (Pierce) Steele, on May 31, 1930.

Howard married Lucille Blenn on June 18, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Westmoreland, KS. To this union three children were born, one son Kevin and two daughters, Beverly and Sherrie.

Howard worked as a journey lineman for the City of Clay Center for 20 years before moving to Burlington where he worked for the rural electric co-operative for 16 years until he retired and returned to Clay Center. Lucille preceded him in death on July 9, 2010. Howard was a den leader for the Boy Scouts and coached girls softball, later forming his own team, the Hatfield Hustlers. He enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing, and hunting. In later years he liked to take his hunting dog out and just walk. Howard loved to garden and take care of his home. He is also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Steele and 3 brothers, Earl and Homer Steele and Verlin Taylor.

Daughter: Beverly and husband Jerry Layman, Trenton, GA

Daughter-In Law: Deedra Steele, Emporia, KS

Brother: Harold and Shirley Steele, Cheyenne, WY

Sister: Gladys Gallagher, Denver, CO

Sister: Ethel Clair, Randall, KS

2 Granddaughters: Rochelle Steele and Alissa Willmann

4 Grandsons: Jeremy and Jason Layman, Lance and wife Ragan Willmann and Sean Steele

Great Granddaughter: Elsie Willmann

Great Grandson: Tristan Stephens

Many Nieces and Nephews

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.

Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Friends of the Clay Center Zoo c/o the funeral home.

Genevieve Lindberg
(Died May 26, 2013)

GENEVIEVE LINDBERG died May 26, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Abilene, KS at the age of 79. She was born on December 7, 1925 in Clay County, Kansas the daughter of Dean and Martha (Chestnut) James.

Genevieve was a farm wife in Elkhart, KS. for 25 years then moved to Fremont, CA. where she became a nurse's aide for 20 years. After her retirement in 2005 she returned to Clay Center where she resided in the Presbyterian Manor until her death. She married Clifton LeRoy Taylor in 1942 and they later divorced. She then married Glenn F. Lindberg in Fremont, CA.. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, brother Ralph, sister Bertha Dodds, granddaughter Amber Lynette (Harris) Seymore, sisters-in-law Betty James and Olivia James, brothers-in-law Howard Mailen, Clem Wiechman, Gene Dodds and Lloyd Olson. Amber preceded in death her beloved Grandmother by 5 months and will be there to greet “Grammy Bear”.

Daughter: Carol and husband Gene Lavielle, Pittsburg, CA

Daughter: Brenda Seaborn, Brentwood, CO

Brother: Russell James, Clay Center, KS

Brother: Milo james, Clay Center, KS

Sister: Vesta Lyne, Clay Center, KS

Sister: Velda Mailen Wiechman, Denver, CO

Sister: Alta Olson, Morganville, KS

Brother: Leo James, Clay Center, KS

Brother: Wayne James, Atlanta, GA

Brother: Arlo James, Denver, CO

Visitation: Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas.

Inurnment: Wesleyan Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas.

Hulda Ohlde
(Died May 26, 2013)

HULDA OHLDE died May 26, 2013 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 86. She was born on November 4, 1926 in Washington County, KS the daughter of George and Anna (True) Laue.

Hulda was raised in Washington County. She married Ernest Ohlde on October 29, 1944. They farmed south of Linn for many years. Hulda also worked as a nurse's aide at the Linn Nursing Home. They moved to Clay Center in 1988. Ernest preceded her in death on May 12, 2002. Hulda was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Palmer and a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. She is also preceded in death by a son, Jon, a sister, Ruth Lohmeyer, a sister in law, Katherine Laue, and a brother in law Wilbert Lohmeyer.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Charlotte and husband Richard Voelker, Palmer, KS

Son: Stan and wife Marlene Ohlde, Clay Center, KS

Son: Scott Ohlde, Clay Center, KS

Brother: Norbert Laue, Salina, KS

Brother: Gerald Laue, Auburn, KS

Brother: Harold Laue, Topeka, KS

8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 1:30PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home

Memorials can be made to Hulda Ohlde memorial fund c/o the funeral home

Norma Inman
(Died May 27, 2013)

NORMA JEAN INMAN died May 27, 2013 at 808 Lakeside Dr, Wakefield, KS at the age of 78. Norma was born on October 7, 1934 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska the daughter of Howard and Delores (McKinney) Ballinger.

Norma Jean grew up near Lawson , Missouri and graduated from Lawson High School. She married Clifford Bruce Inman on April 7, 1951 and he preceded her on July 18, 1993. She worked at the R&W Cafe and was Editor of the Wakefield Sun newspaper. She then worked for Upland Mutual Insurance Co. as a underwriter until retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs and the VFW Aux. #7774 all of Wakefield, Kansas. She is also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Survivors include:

Son: Clifford and wife Karen Inman, Topeka, KS

Son: Arthur Inman, Wakefield, KS

Son: William Inman, Topeka, KS

Son: Paul and wife Sharon Inman, Topeka, KS

Son: Timothy and wife Melinda Inman, Ypsilanti, MI

12 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren

Brother: Harvey Ballinger, Lawson, MO

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00AM at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Kansas.

Officiating the service will be Rev. Diana Stewart.

Private Inurnment will be at the Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meadowlark Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
