Franklin R. Gatliff

Franklin R. Gatliff, 72, Winfield, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The family will greet friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Born Sept. 4, 1931, in Ft. Myers, Fla., he was he son of Wiley and Cora (French) Gatliff. He had worked at the Winfield State Hospital and worked in truck delivery until retirement. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen J. (Mericle) Gatliff of the home; daughter, Nancy Bowlin of Winfield; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established for the National Kidney Foundation. Contributions may be made though the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

Elsie J. Schnetzer, 100, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Edna B. Dellenbaugh

Edna B. Dellenbaugh, 89, Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Eva Marie Sherwood Piatt

Funeral services for Eva Marie Sherwood Piatt, 76, Arkansas City, who died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Chambers of the Central Christian Church officiating. Accompanist was Stephen Butler. Casket bearers were Roger Piatt, David Monger, David Schooley, James Sheppard, Gary Sharer and Richard Lowery. Honorary casket bearers were Sgt. Jamie Piatt, Jeremy Piatt, Jesse Sheppard, Jared Piatt and Clint Piatt.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Joe Welcome Atkins

Funeral services for Joe Welcome Atkins, 88, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Daniel and Rev. Joyce Daniel of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery. Masonic Rites were by the Crescent Lodge No. 133 AF&AM, Arkansas City. Accompanist was Stephen Butler. Special music was by Jim Miller. Casket bearers were Bobby L. Babcock, Darrell Rolland, Bobby Walker, Vern Goldwater, Tom Neptune and Joe Walker.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Homer S. "Bud" Adams, Sr.

Funeral services for Homer S. "Bud" Adams, Sr., 70, Winfield, who died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Sheila Ratzlaff of the St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Military Honors were by the Fort Riley Honor Squad, Fort Riley. Organist was Janet Kennedy. Special music was by Sheila Ratzlaff. Casket bearers were Thomas Adams, Larry Shively, Larry Adams, Harold Adams, Jarod Beneke and Clay Spring. Honorary casket bearers were Casey Kromminga, Colby Kromminga, Willard Bodkins, Wayne Dowler, Brandon Adams, Amanda Adams, Tyler Adams and Gary Yeutter.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Elsie June Schnetzer

Elsie June Schnetzer, 100, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, both at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City with Father Colin Boor officiating. Interment will follow in the Newkirk City Cemetery in Newkirk. Born Sept. 11, 1903, in Indian Territory, Kay County, Okla., she was the daughter of Samuel and Blanche (Dossett) Buster. She was reared and educated in Kay County. She later attended Friends University of Wichita and Columbia University in New York City. Elsie taught school in Sitka, Kan., for two years. Elsie married Siegfried Schnetzer. The couple lived in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., where he was in metal research and later was the president of Midway Company of Lodi, N.J. Her husband preceded her in death in 1958. Elsie moved to Arkansas City in 1965. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include two nieces, Maxine McCurley of Anacortes Wash., and Ruth Porter of Cedar Edge, Colo.; a nephew, Dean Taylor of Grand Junction, Colo., and locally, a cousin, Imogene Leavitt of Newkirk, Okla. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Edna Thomas, Docia Taylor, Vivian Martin, and Fannie Fields. A memorial has been established with the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
Billie Ross "Bill" Bannister

Billie Ross "Bill" Bannister, 75, Newkirk, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center of Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in the Riverview Cemetery with Danny Cornish officiating. Born April 28, 1928, in Arkansas City, he was the son of Frank M. and Sylvia (Vandever) Bannister. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City. Bill served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He later served in the U.S. Air Force for a total of 16 years. On Feb. 27, 1976, he married Martha Estell in Colorado Springs, Colo. The couple made their home in Colorado, then Braman, Okla., and later settled in Newkirk, Okla. After serving in the Air Force for 16 years, Bill worked for NORAD for several years before retiring and moving to Oklahoma in 1977. Bill worked for Pioneer Chemical in Ponca City and later for Lomar in Newkirk. Survivors include his wife Martha of the home; five sons, Jerry of San Francisco, Calif., Bob of Mankato, Minn., Dee of Ponca City, Clint and Clifford of Newkirk; six daughters, Betty Ulery of St. Joe, Mich., Yolanda Stamper of Hobbs, N.M., Lisa Shuey of Lebanon, Pa., Syrilda Mills of Newkirk, Jennifer Jones and Deanna Martin of Arkansas City; four brothers, Jay of Arkansas City, Kenneth of Calahan, Calif., Jimmy of Kansas City, Mo., Tommy of Ocala, Fla.; three sisters Mary Falkenberg of Arkansas City, Jeannie Sanborn of Winfield, Rita Enderude of Newkirk; 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Paul, Ted and Dee; four sisters, Maxine Rice, Betty Naden and infant twins, Leta and Letha.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City, Kansas. On-line condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman. com.

Jeannette Gowan McGuire

Jeannette Gowan McGuire, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Oct. 19, 2003, at her home after a long illness. Private family memorial services will be held at graveside in Arkansas City in November. Born Nov. 28, 1933 in Arkansas City, she was the daughter of Kenneth R. Gowan and Lucille Thompson Gowan. Survivors include her mother, Lucille; her husband of 50 years, Michael (Mick) McGuire of the home; and sons, Patrick K. McGuire of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Casey D. McGuire of Temecula, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials have been established for the St. Joseph's Hospice, Box 200401, Hot Springs, AR 71903 or the Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League, 195 Cloaca Lane, Hot Springs, AR 71909. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hot Springs Village Cremation and Memorial Society.

James L. Leinenweaver

James L. Leinenweaver, 52, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Paul Beard

Paul Beard, 77, Wyandotte, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Cremation will be effected. Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Ulmann, Mo., he was the son of Perry M. Beard and Cynthia A. Beard. Paul graduated from high school in 1943 from Lake of the Ozarks, Mo, and for 37 years was a linen service driver for Selmar Peerless. In 1946, he married Lucille A. Bauer Stephens in Freeburg, Mo. He married Dorothy Taylor on July 26, 1988, in Jefferson City, Mo. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; a daughter, Cindy K. (Beard) Mayhill and husband, Allen of Arkansas City; five sons, Daniel P. Beard and wife, Charlotte of Wyandotte, Richard A. Beard and wife, Linda of Ponca City, George M. Beard, and wife, Lenora of Arkansas City, William W. Beard, and wife, Margaret of Racine, Mo., and David L. Beard of New Mexico; three sisters, Inez Eiken and Faye McCall, both of Springfield, Mo., and Emma Ruth Bolton of Jefferson City, Mo ; stepdaughters, Dorothy Schumacher of Maryville, Ill., and Beverly Rodeman of Jefferson City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers Verner H. "Bun" Beard, Joe M. Beard, Ira W. Beard, and S. Warren Beard; one sister, Lesta Phillips; and a stepson, Ronald J. Taylor.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Mo.

Edna B. Dellenbaugh

Edna B. Dellenbaugh, 89, Arkansas City, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Carrithers officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Born Sept. 17, 1914, in Douglas, Okla., she was the daughter of Herman F. and Anna C. (Schneider) Gragert. She was reared and educated in Douglas. Edna moved to Arkansas City when she was 18 years old. One June 21, 1935, she married Alfred Dellenbaugh in Arkansas City. She was a homemaker and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two brothers, Lloyd F. Gragert and John H. Gragert both of Douglas, Okla.; and locally, an aunt, Nella Gragert of Arkansas City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1976; a brother, Walter W. Gragert; and two sisters, Velma Osborn and Thelma Anderson.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church of Arkansas City. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral home, Arkansas City.

Irene Venters

Graveside services for Irene Venters, 93, Sedan, who died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, are scheduled for 3 p.m Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, in the Cedar Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the People's Place of Cedar Vale or the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home of Sedan. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, Sedan.

LeRoy Templeton Drennon

LeRoy Templeton Drennon, 81, Winfield, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at his home in Winfield. Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected. Born April 24, 1922, in Cole Camp, Mo., he was the son of James Henry and Viola Jane Bryant Drennon. He had been a mechanic and union steward for Boeing Aircraft in Renton, Wash. Survivors include his wife, Alice Frances Frampton Allen of the home in Winfield; four sons, James Drennon, Allen Drennon, Phil Drennon and RoyLee Drennon, all of Alaska; two daughters, Joy Porter of Holland and Caroline Grassmann of Salida, Colo.; two brothers, Lloyd Drennon of Bakersfield, Calif., and Ben Drennon of Rogers, Ark.; three sisters, Loretta of Mt. Hood, Ore., Mary Thomas of Nashville, Tenn., and Janie Sanders of Santa Clara, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stacie Drennon; and one brother, Ed Drennon.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
