Flora I. Zimmerman

Flora I. Zimmerman, 95, South Haven, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Riverview Manor in Oxford. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Methodist Church in South Haven, with the Rev. Michael Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at South Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. The family will receivefriends from 7-8:30 p.m. Flora was born June 20, 1911, in Wellington, to John Wesley and Mona (Pearce) Brann. She grew up in the Wellington and South Haven areas, graduating from South Haven High School in 1929. On April 29, 1934, she married Jacob William "Bill" Zimmerman in Wellington. Together they farmed in the South Haven area, moving to South Haven in 1982 when Bill retired from farming. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1987. Flora taught at a country school near South Haven for four years prior to her marriage. She also taught kindergarten in South Haven for a year after her marriage, and was always a strong supporter of education. Flora was a Perth 4-H Club leader, member of the Rome Victory EHU, South Haven United Methodist Women, and was active in Eastern Star for 61 years. She served as the church historian for many years. Survived include her sons, John Zimmerman and wife, Donna, of Arlington, Texas, Jay Zimmerman and wife, Glennis, of South Haven, Mike Zimmerman and wife, Polly, of Golden, Colo.; daughter, Sylvia Breese, of Moore, Okla.; sister, Rosemary Overton, of Ponca City; brother, Will Brann, of Jefferson City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Flora was preceded in death by brothers, Wendell Brann, Robert Brann, Wesley Brann, and James Brann; sisters, Phyllis Cox and Violet Cox; and granddaughter, Susan Kellum.
A memorial has been established with the South Haven Methodist Church and the Riverview Manor in Oxford. Contributions can be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington.

Lois Maxine Wiggers-Jewell

Lois Maxine Wiggers-Jewell, 79, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Middleburg, Fla. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, Kan. Born Dec. 6, 1927, in Caldwell, she was the daughter of Herman and Virginia Derrick Pratt. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1946. She was a service clerk at Montgomery Ward for many years and then an office clerk at Dolly Madison Bakery before retiring 34 years ago. She married Donovan C. Wiggers on Sept. 21, 1947. He died Sept. 5, 1989, in Sun City, Ariz. She married Bernard Jewell on Dec. 13, 1992. He died April 4, 2006, in Sun City, Ariz. Lois was a resident of Sun City for the past 18 years. Lois was a member of Willowbrook United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Huggard, of Tucson, Ariz., Nancy Boling, of Emporia, Kan., Judy Edie, of Middleburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Pratt.
Memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society, for Camp Hope, 1315 SW Arrowhead, Topeka, KS, 66604, or your local Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holly Hill Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Middleburg, Fla.

Doris Jeanne (Houlton) Ward

Doris Jeanne (Houlton) Ward, 80, Arkansas City, beloved mother and grandmother, passed into God's hands on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center of Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Private interment services will be held in Hope Cemetery. Pastor David Ast will officiate. Doris was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Anthony, Kan., to Harry and Hazel Houlton. She married Donald Ray Ward on Dec. 30, 1944, at Cherokee, Okla. The couple made their home in Anthony, after Don returned from the Navy in 1945. They then lived in Fairfield, Ill., Anthony and Wichita, Kan. They resided in Arkansas City from 1957 to 1970 where they raised six children. During that time, she worked three years for Hillcrest Lanes. From 1970 until 1976, Doris and her family lived in Plainfield, Ill. After the death of Don Sr., Doris returned to Arkansas City where she worked at Newman's Dry Goods. She resided in Arkansas City until her death. Survivors include six children, Don Jr. and his wife, Sara, Jody Floyd, Glen Ward, and Marvelene and her husband, Kenneth Davis, all of Arkansas City, Stanley and his wife, Kimalyn Ward, of Perry, Okla., Harry and his wife, Suella, of Oklahoma City; a sister, Colleen Hicks, of Brookfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Eric Ward, Larry and his wife, Jamie Floyd, Jessica, Dustin, and Weston Ward, Amanda and her husband, Chris Moody, and Amelia Ward; two great-grandchildren, Shelbi and Braden Floyd. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don R. Ward, Sr., and a sister Melvena Barker.
The family requests donations to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cowley County. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Gladys Mae Wall

Gladys Mae Wall, 90, Arkansas City, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 p.m. today. Gladys was born April 17, 1917, along with her twin brother Gail, in Copan Okla., to Jesse and Stella (Snook) Brokaw. The family lived in Copan until 1926 when they moved to Arkansas City, where she received her education. During WWII she helped the war effort by working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. On April 16, 1947, she married Fred Wall in Arkansas City. To this union three children were born, Sharon, Judy, and Phillip. The couple made their home in Arkansas City where Gladys worked at the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Andes and husband, Tom, of Winfield, and Judy LaPointe and husband, Conrad, of Canyon City, Colo.; grandchildren, Jeff Andes, Eric Andes, Ryan Andes, Sharon Stoner, Michelle Hipple, Joann Cimon and Judy Hickman; and 17 great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Stroke Association. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Arkansas City.

Ethel Lillian Williford

Ethel Lillian Williford, 98, longtime Newkirk resident, died Monday afternoon, May 21, 2007, at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, in the chapel of Watts Funeral Home, in Madill, Okla. Interment will follow in the Keel Cemetery near Lebanon, Okla. Born Sept. 22, 1908, near Lebanon in Marshall County, Okla., she was the daughter of John William and Eva Maud (Howard) Goodwin. She was employed with the Horn Seed Company in Oklahoma City. Survivors include two daughters, Claudine King, of Newkirk and Nysa Leah LaFevers, of Carpinteria, Calif; one sister, Hattie Pratt, of Lebanon, Okla.; one brother, Homer Goodwin, of Rohnert Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin Franklin Williford; three brothers, Claud, Oley, and Riley Goodwin; two sisters, Nellie McCoy and May Burgess.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens Building Fund, Box 468, Newkirk 74647. Arrangements are under the direction of the Watts Funeral Home of Madill, Okla.

Michael Lee Meier

Michael Lee Meier, 61, Winfield, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at St. Francis in Wichita. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m Friday, May 25, 2007, at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Born Oct. 9, 1045, in Winfield, he was the son of Marvin and Dorothy (McDade) Meier. He worked in construction and ranching in Cedar Vale. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Cummings, Winfield; sister, Barbara Powell, Winfield; and a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin.
A memorial has been established for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

Doris J. Ward

Doris J. Ward, 80, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Janet Marie Moulton

Janet Marie Moulton, 57, of Ponca City, formerly of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Ponca City Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Janet was born April 30, 1950. She married Joe A. Moulton. Janet was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Kelly Logsdon, Venus Logsdon and Debra Moulton, all of Ponca City, Okla.; step-children, Alvin Moulton, of Arkansas City, Arthur "King" Lusk, of Newkirk, Okla., Larry Moulton, of Blackwell, Okla., and Henry Moulton; brother, Steven Grier; seven grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois (Marshall) Stanaway

Lois (Marshall) Stanaway, 69, of Alva, Okla., formerly of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at her brother's residence. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, in the Hope Cemetery. Pastor Gale Rider will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until noon Monday. Lois was born Aug. 6, 1937, along with her twin brother, to A.K. and Thelma (Davis) Marshall in Winfield. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1955. She furthered her education at the Saint Francis Hospital and Nursing School to become an inhalation therapist. She retired from the Shared Medical Center of Alva, Okla. Survivors include her twin, Albert Marshall and brother, Edwin Marshall and his companion, Carolyn Epp, all of Arkansas City; nephew, Eddie Marshall; six nieces, Tammy Oliver, Sherra Cross, Melisa Myers, Keli Patterson, Mindy Marshall and Tara Burr; and several aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests a memorial to Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Joan E. Horinek

Joan E. Horinek, 85, longtime Newkirk resident, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at her home.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, of Newkirk.

Madie A. Reed

Madie A. Reed went to be with the Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family, on May 4, 2008, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Calvary Heights Temple, 2122 W. Edison, Tulsa. Visitation (wake) with the family is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the church. Madie was born June 15, 1942, in Tulsa, Okla., to Fred and Alma Wallace. Madie was married to Ronald Reed and spent her life being a pastor's wife and 40 years being a mother, both of which gave her the greatest joy. Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, the Rev. Ronald B. Reed; daughters, Heather Walker, Jessica Walker, Kimberlee Hinkle, Elisabeth Hinkle and Madison Reed; sister and best friend, Nancy Lerrille and husband, Wayne, of Madisonville, La.; three brothers, Wayne Snelson and wife, Kathy, of Birmingham, Ala., Don Snelson, of Tulsa, and Thomas Wallace, of Van Buren, Ark.; and countless nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home, Sand Springs, Okla.

Sarah Rachel Belusko

Sarah Rachel Belusko, 26, of Stillwater, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in Marlow, Okla. Private family services will be held at a later date. She was born July 31, 1981, in Tulsa, to Thomas Joseph Belusko and Janetta Gale (Wallace) Belusko. She moved to Bartlesville in 1985 with her brother, Adam, and her mother. She attended St. John's Catholic School from grades K-5, Central Junior High School from grades 6-8, Bartlesville Mid-High School from grades 9-10, and graduated from Bartlesville Senior High School in 1999. She and her mother moved to Stillwater, where she attended Oklahoma State University. She graduated Sigma Cum Laude in 2004 with a bachelor's of science with distinction in sociology. She attended the University of Chicago from 2004-05 and graduated with a master's of arts with distinction in social sciences. She moved back to Stillwater in 2007 and became a candidate for a doctor of philosophy with distinction in sociology and emphasis in social movement.
While an undergraduate at OSU, she volunteered and later became employed as an intake worker at Stillwater Domestic Violence Services (1999-2001); volunteered at Payne County Youth Services as the director of the CAPE program, which she designed as a creative writing and theatre program for at-risk youth (2001-02); and volunteered for the Office of Juvenile Affairs as a tutor for youth involved with the agency (2002-04). While attending the University of Chicago, she continued her volunteer work with children from lower socio-economic status and street children as an instructor of poetry writing, performance art and traditional theater at the Southside Community Art Center. Before leaving Chicago, she was employed as an administrative assistant/researcher with the Steans Family Foundation (2005-06). Upon her return to Oklahoma, she was employed as an administrative assistant/instructor with Tom Belusko Behavior Health Services (2006) and as a therapeutic case manager with Hope Community Services, Inc. She returned to OSU in 2007 and presented a paper entitled "Through the Rabbit Hole: A Statistical Analysis of Menta1 Health and Substance Abuse" at the Oklahoma Sociologica1 Association in Lawton. Survivors include her father, Thomas Joseph Belusko and his wife, Janna, of Norman, Okla.; mother, Jan Belusko, of Stillwater; one brother, Adam Joseph Belusko, of Norman; two sisters, Hannah Belusko and Abigail Belusko, of Norman; maternal grandmother, Etta Jane Wallace, of Stillwater; and paternal grandparents, John and Rosalie Belusko of Hartshorne; aunts; uncles and cousins; as well as a host of friends, colleagues and her passion for sociology and humanity.

The family requests that donations be to made to OSU Foundation, 400 S. Monroe, P.O. Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749, in memory of Sarah Be1usko. Arrangements are under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home.

Reynaldo Rocio-Castillo III

Reynaldo Rocio-Castillo III, infant son of Reydaldo Castillo Jr. and Samantha Rocia, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Survivors include his parents; sister, Julissa Rocio, all of the home; grandparents, Marciano Castillo, Leticia Castillo and Veronica Rocio; numerous aunts uncles and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Isabel Brilynn Brown

Isabel Brilynn Brown, infant daughter of Jeremy D. Brown and Hope N. Hoskins, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Springside Cemetery. Pastor Jackie Vogele will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Teresa Louise Lloyd

Teresa Louise Lloyd, 61, Arkansas City, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in the Parker Cemetery. Born June 15, 1946, in Wichita, she was the daughter of Bill Howell and Mary Louise (Smith) Howell. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Allen L. Lloyd of the home; son, Thomas Wilder, of Doniphan, Mo.; daughter, Louise Ceballos, of Catoosa, Okla.; stepsons, Coy Lloyd and Mark Lloyd, both of Arkansas City; stepdaughters, Mary Green, of Tulsa, Jessica Holmes and Alice Gorajewski, both of Arkansas City, and Julia Warner, of New Jersey; sister, Theota Pruett, of Mountain View, Mo.; brother, Louis Isreal, of Tulsa; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ricky Howell; and a brother, Noah Isreal.
A memorial has been established for the Teresa M. Lloyd Memorial Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Keith R. Leland

Keith R. Leland, age 64, freight transportation owner/operator, died Saturday, May 3, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, rural Arkansas City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Survivors include his wife, Carol; sons, Kevin Leland, and Michael (Selene) Leland, both of Wichita; mother, Doris Leland, of Arkansas City; brother, Gary Leland, of Wichita; sisters, Carolyn Wilson, of Arkansas City; Shari (Doug) Kennedy, of Derby,; and grandchildren, Andres and Karina.
A memorial has been established in memory of Keith with His Helping Hands Ministry, c/o Central Christian Church, 2900 N. Rock Road, Wichita, KS 67226. Arrangements are under the direction of the Watson Funeral Home, Wichita.
