Clarence T. Brazle, 95, Winfield, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Cumbernauld Village. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. Born Feb. 17, 1912, in Shell Knob, Mo., he was the son of William Paris and Delvy (Epperly) Brazle. He was a farmer and rancher. Survivors include his wife, Helen E. (Radcliff) Brazle, of Winfield; sons, John Brazle, Winfield, Gary Brazle, Ravenna, Neb., and Frank Brazle, of Chanute; daughters, Mildred Snyder, Arkansas City, and Reba White, of Hoxie; sister, Dorothy McIntire, St. John, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Elbert W. Brazle; one grandson, Brian White; and brothers, Charles, Perry and Cloy.
A memorial has been established for Cumbernauld Village. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

Juanita R. Fuqua

Juanita R. Fuqua, 77, Winfield, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at the William Newton Hospital, Winfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Winfield. Interment is in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. today. Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Leonard and Louise (Langloy) Wilt. She worked for over 30 years at the switchboard at the Snyder Clinic in Winfield. Survivors include her husband, Bruce Fuqua and cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.

Elinora C. Magby

Elinora C. Magby, 63, Valley Center, formerly of Arkansas City, died Friday, July 6, 2007, in Goddard. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mt. Hope, Kan. Pastor Bob Gleason officiated. Born Nov. 25, 1943, in Mt. Hope, she was the daughter of Marvin Blackford and Wilma Nichols. She was a cook. Survivors include her sons, Michael W. Blackford, Cape Coral, Fla., Danny L. Magby, Windom, Minn., and Marvin A. Magby, Wichita; daughter, Cheryl McGuire, Valley Center; brothers, Marvin Blackford Jr., of California, and Jim Blackford, Aransas Pass, Texas; sister, Violet Burton, Brookings, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Guy; and two sisters, Beatrice Cotton and Cleda Boster.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Mt. Hope, Kan.

Glenn M. Haslett Jr.

Glenn M. Haslett Jr., 82, died Saturday, July 7, 2007. Memorial services are pending, but will be held in Arkansas City. He owned and operated Haslett's Greenhouse east of Arkansas City for 10 years, before moving to Peoria, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Arkansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of the Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel, Tucson, Ariz.

Dana Lamb, 83, Arkansas City, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Dana Eugene Lamb

Dana Eugene Lamb, 83, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Medicalodge East in Arkansas City. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, in the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Pastor Gale Rider will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Dana was born Sept. 24, 1923, to Alvie L. Lamb and Ella E. (Parr) Lamb, south of Geuda Springs. He attended school in Kansas and Oklahoma, Landon District No. 7. Dana served during World War II in Battery A, 110th antiaircraft artillery in the United States Army. On Dec. 5, 1946, he married Mildred M. Vermillion in Arkansas City, where the couple made their home. She preceded him in death in 1972. On June 12, 1973, he married Jessie L. Gregory in Arkansas City. Dana worked for Total Petroleum for 42 1/2 years, retiring in 1988 as a maintenance supervisor. After retiring, he worked for Kansas Parks and Wildlife. Dana was a life member of the V.F.W., American Legion and National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M., Local 642 Union I.U.O.E. and president and officer for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Jessie, of the home; sons, John H. Gregory and wife, Debbie; Jess L. Gregory and wife, Robin; sister, Shirley Schimmel and husband, John; grandchildren, Scott Goodale, Tonya Dubrock, Stewart Matthews, Terry, Rebecca and Russell Gregory; 11 great grandchildren and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mildred and daughter, Karen Goodale.
A memorial has been established with the Mt. Zion Community Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Glenn M. Haslett Jr.

Glenn M. Haslett Jr., 82, died Saturday, July 7, 2007. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, in the Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City. Born June 12, 1925, in Arkansas City, he was the son of Joy (Alexander) and Glenn M. Haslett Sr. Glenn was raised on a farm two miles east of Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1943. He served in the Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. He attended Cowley County Junior College and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in agricultural engineering in 1951. He also earned a masters in engineering administration from Bradley University in 1970. It was at Kansas State where he met his wife, Joanne Steeples (Jo) and they were married on Feb. 17, 1952, in Plainville, Kan. Their children include Sue Haslett of Tulsa, Okla., Dr. Mark Haslett and wife, Karen, of Parsons, and Sandy Haslett-Strahl, of Tucson. Glenn had a green thumb and an eye for landscaping which he and Jo used in the operation of Haslett's Greenhouse east of Arkansas City from 1956 to 1966. They then moved to Peoria, Ill, where he was an engineer for Caterpillar until retirement in 1991. Telling friends they were going West to pan for gold, Glenn and Jo moved to Tucson, where they could have late night card games with brother, Max, and hang out on the back porch and tell tall tales. Summers were spent on Feesh Island in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, where Glenn always had many projects in progress and new adventures to be had every day. The only thing Glenn needed to make a house a home was his family, a deck of cards and a place to putter around. Blessed with a gift to envision and build anything, he left his family and friends with many treasures. His infectious chuckle and the twinkle in his eye were a welcome sight to all who came around. Survivors include his wife, Jo, of 55 years; children, Sue, Mark and Sandy; sister, Dorothy Brinkman, Arkansas City; and grandchildren, Alex, Summer and Rachel Haslett and Cody Williamson, of Parsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Arkansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of the Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel, Tucson, Ariz.

LaVon M. (Flick) Corkins

LaVon M. (Flick) Corkins, 97, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the Medicalodge East. Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Father Charles Seiwert will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. LaVon was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Robinson, Ill., to James G. and Estella (McBride) Flick. LaVon came to Kansas in 1920, then moved to Arkansas City in 1924. LaVon graduated from Ark City High School in 1927. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 38 years. LaVon retired Sept. 1, 1974, as chief operator. On Jan. 30, 1929, she married Gerald B. Corkins, in Pawnee, Okla. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. LaVon was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Soroptimist Club, Laurel Society of Soroptimist, Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority, the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary, AARP, Moose Lodge, XYZ Club, and Home Heritage Club. Survivors include four grandchildren, Denise Brandon and her husband, Ray, of Oilton, Okla., Jeff Wingfield and his wife, Linda, of Springdale, Ark., Cindy Norris and her husband, Dwayne, of Big Sandy, Texas, Kenneth Corkins and his wife, Kris, of Ponder, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. LaVon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald B. Corkins, on March 19, 1966; daughter, (Mrs. Harry) Joyce Campbell; son, Ronald Corkins; four brothers, Clair E. Flick, James L. Flick, John F. Flick, Carl W. Flick; and one grandson, Leslie Corkins.
A memorial has been established with the American Narcolepsy Association or the Soroptimist Club. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Wilbur Gottfried Laubhan

Wilbur Gottfried Laubhan, 85, Winfield, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Marion Cemetery in Marion, Kan. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Born Aug. 26, 1921, in Lost Springs, Kan., he was the son of Godfrey and Martha (Prochnow) Laubhan. He worked at International Harvesters for 20 years and after retirement opened his small engine repair shop, Wilbur's Saw Shop. Survivors include his wife, Jody Karasek Laubhan of the home; daughters, Joy McLain, Wichita, and Gloria Hammond, Dallas, Texas; stepson, Clay Vaughn, Oxford; sisters, Naomi Haas, Peabody and Wilma Peters, Newton; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Maria and Barbara; and his sister, Norma Remond.
A memorial has been established for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

Albert Wayne Peters

Albert Wayne Peters, of Midland, Texas, died Thursday, July 12, 2007. Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, at Christian Church of Midland. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. Sunday. He was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Arkansas City, to Lester Wayne Peters and Sarah Leona Ryman Peters. In 1946, he graduated from Arkansas City High School. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946 until 1947 and from 1950 until 1951. He continued his education at Tulsa University graduating in 1953. He moved to Midland, Texas, from Tulsa, Okla., in January, 1956. A certified public accountant, Wayne was a partner in the firm of Conly, Peters & Smith for 22 years. He had also spent 14 years with the firm of Wagner & Brown. Active in the community, Wayne was on the board of directors of Midland United Way and Midland-Lee Youth Centers for three years. He also served as treasurer for Midland United Way for one year. Wayne was a deacon at Christian Church of Midland for 22 years. Survivors include his sons, Douglas Peters, and Ryman Peters, and his wife, Lesli, all of Midland; daughter, Kelley Leigh Hayes of Midland; foster son, Charles Alsheimer of Charleston, S.C.; brothers, Leon Peters and his wife, Sandy, of Woodstock, Ill., and Delbert Lee Peters of Arkansas City; three grandchildren, Tanner Hayes and wife, Jodi, Landon Hayes and wife, Cara, and Jillian Peters, all of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 49 years, Betty Lou Peters.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas, Midland, Texas 79701, Christian Church of Midland, 2608 Neely Ave., Midland, Texas 79705, or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Midland, Texas 79701.

Audrey Nettrouer

Audrey Nettrouer, 78, of Emporia, previously of Oxford, died Thurs., July 12, 2007, at Newman Hospital in Emporia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tues., July 17, 2007, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m., Monday. The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. that evening. Born May 30, 1929, in Dexter, Kan., she was the daughter of John Charles and Mary Pearl (Reynolds) Dyke. On Oct. 11, 1947, she married Lloyd D. Nettrouer Sr., in Winfield. Mr. Nettrouer preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1981. Audrey retired from the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. Survivors include: sons, Lloyd Nettrouer Jr., of Emporia, Charles Nettrouer, of Winfield and Kenneth Nettrouer, of Grand Prairie, Texas; special friend of 35 years, Betty Dauber; and six grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William; two sisters; and four brothers.
A memorial has been established in Audrey's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Donnie L Thompson

Donnie L Thompson, 66, of North Glenn, Colo., formerly of Oxford, died July 5, 2007, due to a construction accident.

LeEtta Delena Dillow Bay

LeEtta Delena Dillow Bay, 82, Newkirk resident, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the Ponca City Medical Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in the Peckham Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Richey, minister of the Webb City Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in the Braman Cemetery. Born Dec. 19, 1924, in Webb City, Okla., she was the daughter of Lee Allen and Edna (McCammon) Alberty. LeEtta worked as a housekeeper in hospital and nursing home facilities in Oklahoma and Texas while her husband worked for an oil company. Survivors include six children, Edward Dillow and Merlyn Dillow, both of Pasadena, Texas, Verlinda Barton, of Braman, Okla., Kenneth Dillow of Shidler, Okla., Judy Phillips, of Ponca City, and Doug Dillow, of Newkirk; three sisters, Lucille Hutchison, of California, Doris Hill, of Guymon, Okla., and Credia Givens, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Virgil Edward Dillow and Carl L. Bay; her parents; one sister; and six brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 N. Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, OK 74601. Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.

Mary E. Yates

Mary E. Yates, 85, LaGrange, Ind., died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Life Care Center of LaGrange. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Carney-Frost Funeral Home in LaGrange. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Born May 18, 1922, in Cary, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harve J. Stillberger and Clara (Thomas) Stillberger. On Aug. 5, 1943, she married Harold Yates in Vanlue, Ohio. Mary and her husband owned and operated Yates Shoe Store. She later worked as a cashier for Purity Super Market in LaGrange. Survivors include one daughter, Tonya Olenberger and husband, Fred, of Arkansas City; one son, John Yates, Wolcottville, Ind.; two grandsons, Fred J. Olenberger and Dan C. Olenberger; one great-granddaughter, Hailee Olenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Rosetta O'Flaharty; two brothers, Milton and Lynn Stillberger; and two granddaughters, Jo Lyn and Molly Olenberger.
Memorials have been establsihed for the Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of the Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, Ind.

Darlene Hiltzman

Darlene Hiltzman, 69, of Oxford, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Oxford Funeral Service, Oxford.

Donna Jean Griffith

Donna Jean Griffith, 57, of Seminole, Okla., formerly of Arkansas City, died June 27, 2007, at the Seminole Medical Center. There are no services planned at this time. Donna was born Nov. 4, 1949, in Yale, Okla., to Harold Burnett and Freda (Morris) Williams. On June 17, 1990, she married Terry John Griffith in Portland, Texas. They made their home in Arkansas City, moving to Seminole, Okla., in 1993. Donna had worked at Maurer Neuer and Love's Country Store in Arkansas City, and was a homemaker, medicine nurse at Pioneer Nursing Home and at the Seminole Estates Nursing Home. She was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church of Seminole. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Kevin Bennett, of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsons, Brent and John Griffith, both of Tulsa; two daughters, Amber Bennett, of Seminole, and Kimberly Bennett, of Tulsa; mother, Freda Williams, of Arkansas City; two brothers, Jimmy Burnett, of Wichita, Tommy Burnett, of Purcell, Okla., and one stepbrother, Jimmy Sumter, of Albra, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Winters, of Kansas City, Mo.; stepmother, Mary Burnett, of Seminole; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Patty Burnett; son, Kenneth Monroe Burnett; and a brother, Forrest Sumter.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Okla.
