Debra Kay Robinson, Ponca City resident, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2005, at her home. She was 50. Survivors include her husband, Jerry.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.

Madilynn Lisabeth Fry

Madilynn Lisabeth Fry died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006. Survivors include her parents, Lance Fry and Amy Bazil, of Wichita.
Private services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lucille Hatfield

Mary Lucille Hatfield, 83, Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Medicalodge North, with her family at her side, having undergone a year-long bout with cancer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Hawks Funeral Home, with the Very Rev. Dr. Chad Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. A Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Born Aug. 14, 1922, in Wichita, she was the daughter of Lloyd Pierce and Josephine (Marsh) Pierce. She and her husband owned and operated Hatfield's Service Station from 1964 to 1985. She was a foster grandmother serving at Roosevelt Elementary School with Theresa McIntosh for two years. On Dec. 10, 1945, she married Marvin Hatfield in Arkansas City. Marvin died Dec. 5, 1997. She was a member of the St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church in Wichita. Survivors include five sons, Gary Crowley, Arlington, Texas, Jerry Crowley and his wife, Shawn, Billings, Mo., Joe Crowley and his wife, Jean, Arkansas City, the Very Rev. Dr. Chad Hatfield and his wife, Shelley, Kodiak Island, Alaska, and Jan Hatfield and his wife, Teressa, Arkansas City; grandchildren, Dee Dobson, Drew Crowley, Stephen Crowley, Michael Crowley, Christa Alpers, Jonathan Alpers, Jacob Crowley, Jalon Crowley, Christina Tyler, Jason Hatfield, Sean Hatfield, Erik Swope, Elisha Swope, Brigg Swope, Taylor Hatfield and Bevin Swope; 11 great-grandchildren; and one half sister, Gracy Price, San Clemente, Calif. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Verna Pierce.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Madilynn Lisabeth Fry

Madilynn Lisabeth Fry was delivered into the arms of God on Jan. 29, 2006. Her parents are Lance Fry and Amy Bazil, Wichita, Kan. Her grandparents are Lonnie and Heidi Fry, El Dorado, Kan.; Dale and Linda Bradley, Arkansas City, Kan.; and Russell and Teresa Bazil, Winfield, Kan. The parents ask for your prayers and support through this time, and ask that if God has blessed you with children of your own, to hold them and treasure every moment that you have with them.
Private services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Inez Klaus

Inez Klaus, 76, of Lewisville, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at the Plano, Texas, Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. There will be no visitation as the casket will remain closed. She was born April 9, 1929, in Elk City, Okla., the daughter of John and Odie (Hill) Wheeler. She married John Klaus on March 30, 1951, in Clayton, New Mexico. Survivors include one son, Bill Warnock, of Alvord, Texas; one daughter, Shirley Wilson, of Highland Village, Texas; one brother, Bill Wheeler, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Lovey Howard, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Rita Lewis; and one granddaughter, Rita Ann Warnock.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City, Kan.

Agripina T. Macias

Agripina T. Macias, 79, of Winfield, died Jan. 31, 2006, at William Newton Hospital. She was born in La Nogalera, Chihuahua, Mexico, Nov. 16, 1926, to Sixto and Elisia (Carrazco) Terrazas. She will be honored by a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel in Winfield, Kan. Visitation will take place Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, from 3 p.m. to Rosary time. Interment will be at Ultimo Refugio in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She is survived by her sons, Carlos, Jesus, Arturo and Alejandro, of Mexico; Ernesto, of Odessa, Texas; Javier, Oscar and Ramon, of Winfield; and Antonio, of Tulsa. She is also survived by her daughters, Carmen Carrasco, of Phoenix; and Rosario Macias, of Mexico. She is survived by her sister, Maria Olivas, of Odessa, Texas; 100 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Agripina was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Macias; and sons, Hector, Antonio, Armando, Raul, Roberto and Raul.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home in Winfield, Kan.

Debra Kay Robinson

Debra Kay Robinson, Ponca City resident, died at her home. She was 50. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel with Danny W. Cornish, minister of the Newkirk Church of Christ officiating. Graveside rites and burial will follow in Parker Cemetery, Arkansas City. The body will lie in state at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Debra Kay Robinson was born Aug. 22, 1955, in Wagoner, Okla., the daughter of John F. "Tad" and Wilma Lee "Bobbie" (Hathcoat) Wiley. She was employed at the Ponca City Nursing Center for one year followed by three years at Westminister. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; one son, Brian Speake, of Tahlequah; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Speake, of Hobart, Okla.; four brothers, John Wiley, of Wagoner, Henry "Bosko" Wiley, of Porter, David Wiley and Sammy Wiley, both of Wagoner; four sisters, Janice Cody, of Wagoner, Becky Dickey, of Porter, Dorothy Garcia, of Tahlequah, and Jeri Cole, of Porter; and three grandchildren, Ariel Julieann Watson, Ashlyn Leeann Watson and Bailey Kate Speake. She was preceded in death by her parents. Those serving as casket bearers will be John Hobbs, Ernie Hamilton, David Turner, Zack Turner, David Pinion and Charley Lincoln.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel in Newkirk, Okla.

Doris (McPhail) Watt

Doris (McPhail) Watt died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Arkansas City. She was born in 1917 in Meade to the late William Burnett and Anna Bell Busing. Doris was adopted at the age of 11 by Barney and Ola Dinkins, of Sawyer, after being orphaned due to the death of both parents. Doris married Theron "Mac" McPhail in 1934 in Purdy, Mo., and relocated to Wichita when he became affiliated with Boeing. She was widowed in 1955 and remained in Wichita with her four children. Ten years later, she married Charles Watt and moved to Harper, where they shared 37 years before losing Charles in 2002 in an auto accident. Since then, Doris has lived in the Arkansas City area to be close to her children. She was a former member of Sunnyside Baptist and Olivet Baptist in Wichita, and most recently a member of Chicaski Baptist of Harper. Survivors include three daughters, Judy Sternberger, and husband, Roger, of Arkansas City; Sharlet McKinney, and husband, Bill, of Ponca City, Okla.; and Anita Stos, and partner, Greg Saffa, of Great Bend; two step-children, Robert Watt, of Houston; and Carol Babcock, and husband, David, of Chandler, Okla.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters; first husband, Theron; and husband, Charles; a son, Virgil (Mac) McPhail, and wife, Nancy; and a grandson. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, in the Prairie Rose Funeral Home at Harper. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Wichita Park Cemetery, two blocks north of 21st Street on Hillside, in Wichita.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas in memory of Doris. Arrangements are under the direction of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper, Kan.

Vita Zavala Walker

Vita Zavala Walker, 57, of Arkansas City, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at her residence. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. Father Charles Seiwert will celebrate.
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements.

Vita R. Walker

Vita R. Walker, 57, of Arkansas City, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at her residence. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday also at the church. Private interment will follow cremation. Father Charles Seiwert will officiate. Vita was born June 15, 1948 in Wellington, Kansas to Primo and Vera (Zavala) Venegas. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1966. She married David Walker on December 23, 1967 in Arkansas City. She traveled with her husband as he served in the United States Air Force. She served as a secretary for the United States Embassy in Indonesia, Post Master APO Santiago, Chile. After returning to Arkansas City in 1996 she worked as a secretary for Albright Title and Trust Company and the Security Title and Trust both of Newkirk. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband David of the home; two sons David of Lawrence, Kansas, Daniel and his wife Maria of Boise, Idaho; her parents Primo and Vera Venegas, Sr. of Arkansas City; two brothers Primo Venegas, Jr. of Arkansas City, Mario Venegas of Newkirk, Okla.; one granddaughter Adriana Walker and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Mary Lucille Hatfield

Funeral services for Mary Lucille Hatfield, 83, Arkansas City, who died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Medicalodge North, with her family at her side, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Hawks Funeral Home, with His Grace Bishop Basil and the clergy of the Diocese of Wichita officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery. Casket bearers were Drew Crowley, Stephen Crowley, Michael Crowley, Casey Hatfield, John Crowley, Sean Hatfield, Dr. Jason Hatfield and Jacob Crowley. Honorary casket bearers were Eric Swope, Brigg Swope and Jonathan Alpers.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Ellen June Hamlin

Ellen June Hamlin, 89, of Winfield, died Feb. 3, 2006, at William Newton Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 9 p.m. Monday. A memorial has been established with Grace Episcopal Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Hamlin was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Tulsa, Okla., to Margaret May (Miller) and Jefferson Moses Keith. She was raised and educated in Geuda Springs and graduated from Geuda Springs High School in 1934. Following graduation, she moved to Winfield. She and Walter M. Hamlin married Jan. 6, 1938, in El Dorado. They made their home in Winfield. She worked for the City of Winfield for 17 years, Consolidated Gas Co. for two years and the Winfield District Court for 12 years. She retired in 1978. Hamlin was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Colfax Rebekah Lodge 71 and Unit 10 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her husband died July 12, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lois Jennings. Survivors include a stepson, Ronald Hamlin, Wellington; and a sister, Leona Hill, California.

Martha June Foster Boomershine

Martha June Foster Boomershine, 77, of Arkansas City, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita. She was born on April 12, 1928, in Arkansas City, Kan., the daughter of Harry R. and Orphia Pauline Hendrix Kelso. She attended local schools and was raised by her grandparents, Ross and Hazel Hendrix. She married Bert B. Foster on July 25, 1949, in Bentonville, Ark. They lived in Elk City, Kan., and later moved to California to live for 20 years before moving to Arkansas City in July 1969. Mr. Foster died on Nov. 3, 1969. She later married Alva Richard Boomershine on June 5, 1976, in Arkansas City. He died on Oct. 4, 1992. Mrs. Boomershine operated a beauty shop for 27 years. She was a member of the Calvary Chapel, Royal Neighbors of America and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include sons, Daniel G. Foster, and his wife, Becky, of Redmond, Wash., and Terry M. Foster, and his wife, Tina, of Ontario, Calif.; daughters, Sheila R. Grace, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Sharon R. Miller, and her husband, Kurtis, of Arkansas City; stepsons, Darrell Boomershine, and his wife, Roberta, of Winfield, Kan., Jimmie Wayne Boomershine Sr., and his wife, Elsie, of Arapaho, Okla., Rollin L. Zimmerman, and his wife, Sandy, of Arkansas City; stepdaughters, Margaret Lange, and her husband, Dale, of Enid, Okla., and Joan Carver, and her husband, Val, of Lampe, Mo.; stepbrother, Loren Parks, of Fredonia, Kan.; half-sister, Linda Kay; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Lawrence Parks; stepmother, Margaret Kelso; stepbrother, Leslie Parks; and stepson, Gary Boomershine. A memorial has been established with Calvary Chapel. Contributions may be left at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Elk City, Kan.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-8 Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of Hawks Funeral Home, of Arkansas City, Kan.

Blanche Leftwich

Blanche Leftwich, 94, Burden, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Riverview Manor in Oxford, Kan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006. Born on Aug. 3, 1911, she was the daughter of Ansel B. and Frances Rosette (Weigle) Shannon. She was employed at the Winfield State Hospital from the l950s until 1961. She is survived by her sons, Larry J. Leftwich, and wife, Marilyn, of Moline, Ill., Dennis K. Leftwich, and companion, Dena Simpson, of Burden, Kan., and Neal C. Leftwich, of Burden, Kan.; her sister, Naomi Bernice Howard, of Wichita, Kan.; her six grandchildren, Cindy, Francie, Todd, Diana, Michele and Kristal; and her 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jacob Doyle Shannon; and her sister, Phyllis Elva Nichols.
A memorial has been established in Blanche's name for Cowley County Safe Homes. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, of Winfield.

Eddie Robert Wolfford Jr.

Eddie Robert Wolfford Jr., 49, Arkansas City, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Chapel. Pastor Steve Butler will officiate. Eddie was born Sept. 11, 1956, to Eddie Robert Wolfford Sr. and Joan Carol Wolfford (Bridges) in Houston, Texas. He worked as a master mechanic for Coastline Resources, an oil industry in Aransas Pass, Texas. Survivors include two daughters, Katie McKnight, of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Joan Wolfford, of Corpus Christi, Texas; father; Eddie Robert Wolfford Sr. and his wife, Alice, of Aransas Pass; four brothers, Steve Wolfford, Aransas Pass, Michael Wolfford, James Wolfford, and Edbert Cantu, all of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Joanna Duncan, Aransas Pass, Texas, and Lilly Cantu, Houston, Texas; numerous stepbrothers and sisters; grandmother, Fannie O'Brien, Arkansas City; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother.

A memorial has been established with the Alcoholics Anonymous of Cowley County. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Kenneth E. Niskern

Kenneth E. Niskern, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Hospice House, in Hutchinson. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. The Rev. Wade Graber will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Kenneth was born June 10, 1923, in Cleveland, Okla., to George Otis and Caroline (Dupler) Niskern. He was educated in Cleveland, graduating from high school in 1942. Kenneth went into the Marine Corp in June 1942. He was honorably discharged on June 14, 1946, after completing his tour of duty in the Pacific Theater. While completing his last six months of duty, he returned home to marry Edith Rodgers on Dec. 19, 1945. They lived most of their married lives in Arkansas City. He was employed by Kan-O-Tex, APCO, and retired from Total Petroleum in June 1986. He was a member of the First American Baptist Church, in Arkansas City, and was active in the Crusader Class. He was a lifetime member of the Spencer Ralston Post No. 1254 VFW. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Niskern, Arkansas City, and Beth Weninger and her husband, Ralph, Hutchinson; three grandsons, Tim Weninger, Tyler Weninger and Thomas Weninger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his parents; two brothers, Otis Raymond Niskern, and Claude Norman Niskern; and a sister, Neomia Mae Abbott.
A memorial has been established with the Hospice House of Reno County. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
