Dandurand, Bernard L.
Dandurand, Bernard L., 81, retired Kansas Gas & Electric Co. service foreman, died Sunday, March 23, 2003.
Rosary 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Downing and Lahey Mortuary East; service 10 a.m. Wednesday, All Saints Catholic Church.
He grew up in Salina, moving to Wichita where he attended Cathedral High School. He joined the Kansas National Guard in 1940 and went for a year of training on Dec. 26, 1940. Pearl Harbor stretched that year into five as his unit was mobilized and sent to Little Rock and then on to California where he volunteered to join the 82nd Airborne Division. He returned to Wichita Sept. 21, 1945, it was Chris' birthday. He married Clarissa Ann Roe on Oct. 9, 1945.
He went to work for Kansas Gas and Electric Co. in 1945 and retired in 1984 as a journeyman lineman and service foreman for east Wichita after 39 years. He rejoined the National Guard in 1947 and retired from military service as chief warrant officer in 1964 with 22 years of service.
He had been a Red Cross volunteer, water safety instructor and also taught swimming to handicapped children. He had been a member of the Desert Divers and was a founding member of the Underwater Rescue Squad with the Wichita Civil Defense.
Preceded in death by his parents, Armond Dandurand and Loleda Racette Dandurand.
Survivors: wife, Clarissa; brother, Charles; sister, Marjorie DeMoure both of Wichita; son and daughter, Charles Michael of Little Rock, Ark., Jean Ann of Wichita; son-in-law, Gary Geren; daughter-in-law, Mary; grandchildren, Nicole Dandurand of Baton Rouge, La., Kimberly and Sean Dandurand of Little Rock, Ark., Aaron and Andrew Geren of Wichita.

Noyes, Billie L., daughter of Dr. Glenn D. and Charlene E. Jewett, and wife of local business owner, Robert L. Noyes, passed away on March 24, 2003.
Born October 29, 1929 in St. John, Kansas.
Billie is survived by her husband, Bob Noyes of Wichita; their children: son, Jeff and his wife Nancy of Wichita, daughter, Pam Miller of Denver, and son, Rob Noyes of Wichita.
Grandchildren include Meagan, Mindy and Madison Noyes of Wichita, Kristin Seay and Michael Miller of Denver.
Great-grandchildren are Kristopher Seay of Denver and Damion Isaiah Dawson of Wichita.
There will be a memorial service held at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 8007 W. Maple, Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, March 28, at 10:00 A.M.
A memorial fund has been established through Westwood Presbyterian Church.

Bupp, Jerry Duane
Bupp, Jerry Duane, 68, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2003.

Born on Aug. 3, 1934 in Wichita; he was the son of Ernest and Alpha King Bupp. He attended Longfellow Elementary and Hamilton Junior High.
In high school, he played on the American Legion State and Regional Championship baseball team. He graduated from East High School in 1952.
He received a B.A. and M.A. from Wichita State University in Physical Education.
His passion was sports. He coached football, baseball, basketball, track and wrestling. His professional coaching career began during college when he coached the Wichita State University Baseball Team in 1957. He also coached American Legion baseball teams for three years. He served as a coach and teacher at Robinson, Truesdale and Hadley Junior High Schools; and at West High School, where they were State Football Champions three consecutive years in the mid 1960s.
Even though he switched professions and was a Pharmaceutical Representative for the past 36 years, he always considered himself to be a "Coach" selling drugs!! As a pharmaceutical representative, he achieved Parke Davis's "Salesman of the Year" three consecutive years.
His love of coaching continued and he volunteered his time in the 1970s as a coach for Little League Baseball and for the "Mustangs" football team in the Greater Wichita Junior Football Little League. In 1981, he returned to high school football and was a volunteer coach for Kapaun Mount Carmel. His coaching career spanned his lifetime whether he was coaching sports or coaching kids on life, he always had a great time!
His family includes: wife, Nola; daughter, Susan Bupp Bailey and husband, Ed of Potomac Falls, VA; son, Dr. Steven J. Bupp and wife, Sharon of Tucson, AZ; stepson, Michael C. Schaefer of Andover; brother, Merrill King Bupp and wife, Virginia of Oklahoma City; granddaughters, Jacquelyn, Lindsey and Jessica Bupp of Tucson, AZ; Stephanie Schaefer of Lawrence, Allison Schaefer of Andover.
