Reynolds
Vera Mary Reynolds, 86, Circleville, died Jan. 28, 2005, at a Topeka care facility. She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Topeka, the daughter of Walter R. Stewart, Sr. and Vera Mable Falley Stewart. She graduated from Holton High School in 1936 and lived all of her life in Jackson County. Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker. She was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church. She married Charles L. Reynolds on Feb. 14, 1940, in Holton. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Dennis Lee Reynolds and wife Sue, Colorado Springs, Colo., Garold Lester Reynolds and wife Charlene, Topeka, and Steven Lewis Reynolds and wife Mindy, Lecompton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 2 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Gardner
Melvin Gardner, 81, Highland, died Jan. 27, 2005, at a Highland care center. He was born May 3, 1923, in Rushville, Mo., the son of William and Pearl Hayline Gardner. Mr. Gardner and his wife lived in St. Joseph, Mo., after they were married, moving to Craig, Mo., where he worked as a laborer for the grain elevator for many years. They later moved to Holton after retirement. After his wife died, he moved to White Cloud. He married Lillian Howard on Oct. 24, 1942. She preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Jesse Gardner; his parents; five sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Martha E. Smith, St. Joseph, Mo., Patricia Quimby, Mayetta, and Alice Plummer, Forest City, Mo.; a son, Melvin C. Gardner Jr., Louisville, Neb.; a brother, Thurman Gardner, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Jan. 31 at Armstrong Cemetery

McWilliams
Marguerite L. McWilliams, 99, Hiawatha died Jan. 26, 2005, at a Hiawatha nursing home where she had been a resident for almost two years. She was born May 11, 1905, in Brown County, the daughter of William J. and Josephine Gibson McWilliams. She was a graduate of Hiawatha High School. She attended Emporia State Teacher's College in Emporia and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Peru State University. Miss McWilliams taught rural grade school for 19 years before teaching first grade at Hiawatha Elementary School for 31 years. She made Meals on Wheels deliveries after her retirement from teaching in 1974. She was a member of First Christian Church in Hiawatha, where she was active in the CWF and taught primary Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, Brown County Chapter and Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Kappa Chapter. She also was a longtime member of the Brown County Historical Society. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Naomi McWilliams Prawl, Hiawatha; and four generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Nottingham and Zelda McWilliams; and three brothers, Cecil McWilliams, William J. "Bill" McWilliams and Virgil McWilliams. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Bill Worcester officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery

Minner
Wayne F. Minner, 60, Topeka, died Jan. 26, 2005, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1944, at Soldier, the son of Francis L. and Edna Mae Gallagher Minner. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1962. Mr. Minner worked for the Bureau of Design of the State of Kansas for 41 years. He was a member of Soldier United Methodist Church. He married Marsha Bolen on Aug. 26, 1965. They divorced. Surviors include two sons, David Minner and Chuck Minner, both of Topeka; two daughters, Sandi Ribordy and Susan Minner, both of Topeka; his mother, Edna Mae Hayes, Holton; two brothers, Lyle Minner, Topeka, and Duane Minner, Soldier; three sisters, Nancy Lundin, Circleville, Carol Minner, Topeka, and Connie Barnhart, Havensville; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Soldier Cemetery. Beasterfeld
Neal Roy Beasterfeld, 33, Harveyville, died Jan. 25, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1971, in Topeka, the son of Raymond Ray and Peggy Ann Teter Beasterfeld. He graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1990 and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Beasterfeld worked as a heavy equipment operator for Hermann's Excavating. He was a member of Local 101 in Kansas City. He married Della Louise Koppa on June 8, 1996, in Mayetta. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Chellcie Sparks, of the home; two sons, Brad Beasterfeld and Alan Beasterfeld, both of the home; his parents, Raymond R. Beasterfeld and Peggy A. Beasterfeld, Harveyville; maternal grandmother, Velma Teter, Topeka; two sisters, Judy Messerschmidt, Madison, and Joyce Beasterfeld, Harveyville; a brother, Nick Beasterfeld, Arma; a brother-in-law, Randy Rodvelt, Dover; and a sister-in-law, Tammy Rodvelt, Dover. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Dover Federated Church in Dover. Interment followed in Eskridge Cemetery. Robinson
Annette Robinson, 60, Larkinburg, died Jan. 25, 2005, at Holton Community Hospital. She was born July 31, 1944, at Sabetha, the daughter of Byrl and L'Dene Hollister Rostetter. She graduated from Holton High School in 1962. Mrs. Robinson worked for many years at the Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton, and after it closed, at the Onaga Garment Factory. She was currently employed at Luce Press Clippings in Topeka, where she had worked for 22 years. She married Dan Robinson on Feb. 4, 1964, at Holton. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, L'Dene Rostetter, Holton; a son, Dan J. Robinson and wife Shelly, Holton; a daughter, Lisa Abramovitz and husband David, Valley Falls; two brothers, Randy Rostetter, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Ed Rostetter, Circleville; three sisters, Layna Conley, Chapman, and Roberta Crook and Kathy Hall, both of Topeka; and eight grandchildren, Miki, Josh and Matt Abramovitz, Colette, Whitney and Michael Robinson, and Kyle and Zach Amon. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Keith Spring. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Larkinburg Cemetery. Pollock
James Ivan Pollock, 89, Holton, died Jan. 24, 2005, at Jackson County Nursing Home in Holton. He was born Oct. 18, 1915, in the Cedar Hill community four miles south of Soldier, the son of Thomas Francis and Effie Alice Fairbank Pollock. He attended school at Cedar Hill Grade School before moving to Topeka, where he attended Oakland Grade School, Holiday Junior High and Topeka High School. Mr. Pollock served in the maintenance department in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, where he was an expert sheet metal worker, before moving to Holton. He worked for Jayhawk Music Company from 1951 until 1959, when he and Wayne Marshall purchased Jayhawk TV and Appliance. He retired from the business in 1978. He helped with Cub Scouts and was a member of Holton Country Club and Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3417, Holton. He married Barbara Gifford on Jan. 2, 1940, in Atchison. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James Robert Pollock and wife Mary, and Thomas Lee Pollock and wife Barbara, all of Holton; two daughters, Patricia Pollock Earhart and husband Gene, Anaheim, Calif., and Marcia Pollock Blenden and husband Gary, Topeka; nine grandchildren, Michael Pollock, Lisa Pollock Strube, Patrick Pollock, Kelly Pollock Hale, Angela Pollock Sutter, Deena Blenden Robinson, Sheila Pollock Peterson, Jason Blenden, and Andra Blenden Smith; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Pollock Pendleton, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Aileen Pollock Barnes, Allen Pollock, Vada Pollock Short and Kenneth Pollock; and a grandson, Richard Eugene Earhart. Mr. Pollock was cremated. A memorial service was held Jan. 29 at First United Methodist Church in Holton. Private family inurnment will be later in Olive Hill Cemetery

Stauffer
Louise I. Stauffer, 65, Sabetha, died Jan. 24, 2005, at a Sabetha hospital after an extended illness. She was born May 8, 1939, near Circleville, the daughter of Clarence and Minnie Chase Jackman. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1957. Her family moved to Sabetha in 1957. Mrs. Stauffer worked as a telephone operator for three years in Sabetha, then worked as a junior high and middle school secretary for 33 years. She retired from the Sabetha school system in May 2001, but continued to substitute as needed. She currently was working part time as secretary of the Sabetha Golf Club. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Sabetha and served as secretary in the Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of the Original Women's Investment Club, the Sabetha Community Hospital Guild, the Christian Women's Club, KAEOP, KNEES, KARSP, the MNO Club and the Red Hat Society "Rosie Oldies" Club, where she held several offices in the same organizations. She married Russell E. Stauffer on Dec. 8, 1957, at the home of her parents in Sabetha. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, Minnie Jackman, Holton; two daughters, Marcia Oom and husband Robby, Sabetha, and Myla Matney and husband Jerry, Tecumseh; a son, Michael Stauffer and wife Stacy, Glen Elder; a brother, Gary Jackman, Circleville; a sister, Beth Mitchell and husband Loren, Holton; a sister-in-law, SueAnn Jackman, Sabetha; her father and mother-in-law, Auswell and Vinita Stauffer, Holton; nine grandchildren, Kristina Oom of Topeka, Bobbi Oom of Sabetha, Michelle Witherspoon and husband James, Sherman, Texas, Ryan and Alyssa Matney, Tecumseh, and Ashlee, Jessica, Makenna and Hunter Stauffer, Glen Elder; three stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; a great-grandson, Kaden Oom, Sabetha; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Jackman, on Dec. 13, 1996, and her brother, Raymond Jackman, on Oct. 26, 2003. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at First Congregational Church in Sabetha. Cremation is planned with interment to be announced at a later date. Haverkamp
Robert L. "Bob" Haverkamp, 67, Bern, died Jan. 23, 2005, at a Seneca hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1937, on a farm northeast of Kelly, the son of George F. and Evelyn M. Winkler Haverkamp. He grew up there and graduated from St. Bede's High School in Kelly in 1955. Mr. Haverkamp was a farmer and a stockman. He married Janice Stallbaumer on Nov. 24, 1958, in St. Benedict. She survives. Other survivors include six sons, Robert G. Haverkamp, Mark Haverkamp, Alan Haverkamp, Leon Haverkamp and Neal Haverkamp, all of Bern, and Kent Haverkamp, Denver, Colo.; five daughters, Nancy Steinlage and Julie Lierz, both of Seneca, Lynda Cross, Centralia, Donna Reschke, Overland Park, and Tricia Cain, Manhattan; four brothers, Avitus Haverkamp, Wetmore, and Melvin Haverkamp, William Haverkamp, and George J. Haverkamp, all of Seneca; a sister, Georgina Holthaus, Baileyville; and 27 grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 25 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul School Building Fund or the Bern Community Foundation, sent in care of the family.
Tuley
Charles M. Tuley, 62, Topeka, formerly of Atchison, died Jan. 23, 2005, at his home. He was born March 22, 1942, in Effingham, the son of Carl and Frances Foster Tuley. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School and later graduated from The Citadel Academy in Charleston, S.C., with a bachelor's degree in political science. He attended Washburn University Law School for one year and graduated from Cleveland-Marshall Law School, with a Juris Doctorate degree in law. Mr. Tuley practiced law in several different states and in several counties surrounding Atchison. He also served as a municipal judge in Effingham and Atchison. He was a member of the National Trial Lawyers Association, the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Johnson County Bar Association, the Shawnee County Bar Association, the Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Seneca, Marshall County and Leavenworth Bar Associations, the Association of Kansas Criminal Defense Lawyers, a former member of the Bellevue Country Club in Atchison, and the Lake Shawnee Golf Course in Topeka. He was a member of the Citadel Alumni Association. He married Janice Maresh on May 30, 1964. They divorced. He married Cynthia Bertrand on Oct. 27, 1973. They divorced. He married Valeri Horn on June 21, 2002. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Kevin Tuley and wife Brigid, Chicago, Ill., Sean Tuley, Nashville, Tenn., and Colin Tuley and wife Jin, Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Shannon Tuley, Lawrence, Jamie Tuley, Atchison, and Heather Keener, Topeka; his mother, Frances Tuley, Effingham; a brother, Ron Tuley, Atchison; a sister, Mary Ann Hosier, Sun City, Ariz.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Effingham Union Church, with the Rev. Jeff Cochran officiating. Cremation will follow the service, and family burial of cremains will be held Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery

Stous
William "Bill" Stous Jr., 87, Berryton, died Jan. 22, 2005, at a Topeka hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was born Aug. 16, 1917, at Holton, the son of William and Nellie Meck Stous. He graduated from Holton High School. Mr. Stous worked the family farm north of Holton until he moved to Topeka in 1952 and was manager of the Topeka State Hospital Dairy. Upon the closure of the dairy, he became the grounds supervisor. He retired after 30 years of service at the hospital. He lived in the Berryton and Tecumseh community for 50 years. He was a member of Berryton United Methodist Church. He married Evelyn F. Stephenson on Nov. 27, 1942. She died in 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Schultz and Katherine Haag; and a son, Richard Stous, who died in 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Abernathy and husband Abe, Berryton; a son, Steve Stous and wife Sharon, Duncanville, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jeanie Stous, Berryton; five grandchildren, Sherri Scheideman and husband Kyle, Kevin Stous and wife Nancy, and Brad Price and wife Lori, all of Berryton, Tyson Stous, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Jodi Stous, Tyler, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Shelbi and Baylie Stous, Ashley and Quinton Price and Abby Scheideman, all of Berryton; a brother, John Stous and wife Erma, Lenexa; and a brother-in-law, Harold Schultz, Topeka. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at Berryton United Methodist Church. Graveside services also were held Jan. 26 in Holton Cemetery.
