Wesche, Vicki L.,
Wesche, Vicki, L., passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003. Service 9:00 A.M.,Friday, September 5 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 N. Greenwich Rd. Vicki Lynn Weston was born February 17, 1946 to Leo and Lucille Weston. She married Bill "Gus" Wesche May 8, 1964. Vicki's first love was her family. She made every effort to support them with love and encouragement. She also enjoyed church work, serving on various committees and was a past president of the Lutherans Women's Missionary League at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Bill and Vicki transferred to Risen Savior Lutheran, a mission church in Northeast Wichita where they were amoung the first members. Whenever possible, Vicki was always ready for a fun game of bridge and belonged to several bridge groups. She also loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to travel throughout the country visiting children and friends. Vicki was active in the resturant business with her parents who owned the West-Shack restaurant, City Annex Cafeteria, and operated the cafeteria in Wichita City Hall for many years. Survivors: husband, Bill "Gus"; son Chris, daughter-in-law, Lisa, and granddaughter Megan of Danbury, CT; son, Todd of Alexandria, VA; and mother, Lucile Weston of Wichita. She is preceded in death by her father, Leo Weston. Memorials have been established with Risen Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund, 6770 E. 34th N., Wichita, 67226, Holy Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund, 600 N. Lyman, Reba Zina (Phillips), 83, of Andover, homemaker & Lyman Implement Company co-owner & bookkeeper, died Monday, September 8, 2003. Visitation with the family 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, service 3:00 P.M., Saturday, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Reba was born August 2, 1920 in Beaumont, KS to Clarence & Florence (Cannon) Phillips. She married William H. Lyman on February 15, 1942. He preceded her in death January 14, 1999. Reba lived in Medicine Lodge from 1949 until 2001 when she moved into the Andover Health Care Center. Reba was a member of the Medicine Lodge United Methodist Church and the Andover United Methodist Church. Survivors: Son, Jon W. Lyman, of Aztec, N.M. and grandson, William Robert Lyman, of DeKalb, IL. Memorials have been established with Medicine Lodge United Methodist Church and Andover United Methodist Church.

Marty retired from the Boeing aerospace division after twenty-three years of service. She had also worked for Cessna Aircraft and for seven years at the Coleman Company. Survivors: father, John Cummings; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jodi Cummings II of Wichita; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Jim Wheeler of Wichita, Nancy and Robert Page of Topeka; one nephew; four nieces; five great-nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Louisiana State University. She enjoyed substitute teaching in Valley Center, Maize and Wichita High Schools. Survivors: husband, Charles W.; daughters, Cynthia Anne Tilton of Leawood, KS, Patricia Milner Maroney of Tulsa, OK; sons, Chad Harold Johnson of Burlington, KY, Christopher William Johnson of North Platte, NE; brother, Charles Edward Milner, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Matthew Lee Maroney, Amy Louise Maroney and Ford William Johnson. Purcell, Betty Jean, 78, homemaker, died Monday, September 22, 2003. Service 10:00 A.M., Friday, Eastminster Presbyterian Chapel. Mrs. Purcell was born in Fairfax, OK and also lived in Stillwater. Most of her life, she lived in Wichita where she graduated from East High School and attended Wichita University. At WU, she was a member of Sorosis. She was also an active member of Wichita Country Club, Junior League and Eastminster Presbyterian Church and she was also a volunteer at the Wichita Historical Society. Survivors: son, Robert Raymond Purcell, Jr. of Wichita, KS; daughter, Jeanne A. Ritter of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Darby C. Ritter of Lawrence, KS, Whitney B. Ritter of Oklahoma City, OK and Lindsay B. Holbrook of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Christopher S. Ritter, Ryli K. Holbrook, Henley J. Holbrook, Hayley K. Ritter and Lauren E. Ritter. Vann, Patricia A. (Routon), 64, surrounded by her family, died following an extended illness with cancer, Sunday, September 21, 2003. Friends & relatives are invited to attend the Rosary at 7:30 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2003 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 27, 2003 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 257 N. Ohio, with burial immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery. The family extends their deepest gratitude and thanks to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and staff for their tender loving care & support, and to the many friends & family for their love and compassion throughout her long journey.

Sloan, Harold L., 92, of Louisville, OH, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2003 in Altercare of Hartville. He was born August 15, 1911 in Greenwich, KS. Harold was a retired grain farmer in Kansas, a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ, former member of Andover United Methodist Church, graduate of Andover High School, a 58 year Masonic member of the North Star Lodge #168 F & AM, and the Midian Temple Shrine, all of Wichita, KS. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Bernice (Rohrer) Sloan of Louisville, OH; daughter, Rebecca Sloan of Denver, CO; son, Thomas Sloan of Phoenix, AZ; stepdaughters, Nancy Breit of Minerva, OH, Donna Vaughan of Hartville, OH, and Faye Maholm of Green, OH; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice (Wolf) in 1983, sisters, Dorothy Wolf and Edna Mae Hudson; brother, Everett Sloan, and granddaughter, Kimberly Sloan. Visitation 10:00 A.M., Saturday, with service beginning at 11:00 A.M., Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Interment will be in Andover Cemetery.

Hinnenkamp, Elmer E., 83, retired Boeing Aircraft planner, died Fri. Sept. 26. Service: 10:00 Tues. Sept. 30 Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Preceded by son Ralph Hinnenkamp. Survivors: wife; Betty and Son Loren (Kay) Hinnenkamp of Wichita. Brother Elwin Hinnenkamp, Viola, KS. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Kloke, and Chris Hinnenkamp of Wichita, Melissa Lapham, Bakersfield, CA, Michael Hinnenkamp, Iowa. Great-grandchildren Taryn and Teagan with a third due in Oct. Elmer was a Veteran of WWII serving as a nose gunner on a B-24, flying 50 bombing missions with the Air Offensive in Europe. He also served in Rome-Arno, Northern France Normandy and Germany earning many commendations including; EAME Ribbon with 4 Bronze stars, Distinguished flying cross, and an Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. BROWN, John Silas, 77, Died Saturday, September 20, 2003. He was born October 11, 1925 and a lifetime Wichita resident. Graduated from Wichita North High School in 1944, member of the U. S. Army, serving in WWII, European Theater. Graduated from the K.U. class of 1952. He was president of Delta Upsilon fraternity and continued his interest in D.U. as an honored member of the alumnae board of directors. John was a Ret. Bank IV Trust Officer and in retirement did private investment counseling. John was president and tree lot chairman of the Downtown Y’s Men’s Club, Midian Shrine and Potentate’s aide & Albert Pike Lodge. Survived by Wife: Mary Douglass Brown; Daughter Jodie S. King (Brad) of Media Pa.; Corie K. Brown (Chris Fager) of Los Angeles, Ca. Brother; Norman Brown of Blacksburg, Va.; Grandchildren, Meryl King, Brad King(II), Hayley Douglass Fager and Charlie Douglass Fager. Services 1:00 P.M.
