Devoted, loving mother of Melanie (Garry) Gunter of Ponca City, OK, and Jeffrey (Mary Ruth) Marotte of Palo Alto, CA. Exuberantly proud grandmother (Nana) of Anna, Jenna, and Evan Gunter, twins Ethan and Olivia, and Simon Marotte. Dear sister of Caroline (David) Luck of Arkadelphia, AR. Beloved daughter-in-law of Ernest Marotte and sister-in-law of Anais Troadec, Eileen (George) Stone, and Jean (John) Leitenberger. Treasured aunt of Michelle (Bruno) Six, Jean-Marc Troadec, Bryan and Justin Leitenberger, Clarke (Mary) Cagle, and Cary (Jim) Morrison. Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at East Heights United Methodist Church. Nancy was active in her church work and her real estate business. Graveside service will be 2:30 P.M. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery, Oatville. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, J. Snowden & Emma R. (Ousey) Worrall, and husband, Harry. Allison, Jacqueline Kinnan, 77 passed away Dec. 28th, 2004 in Wichita, KS. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, Dec. 30th, 2004 at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East Chapel. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita, KS. Mrs. Allison was born Sept. 21st, 1927 in Tulsa, OK to Earl and Naomi Kinnan. She graduated from East High School in 1945, attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Wichita State University in 1945 where she was a member of the Sorosis Sorority. She married Dean Allison on January 30th, 1954. Jackie was a devoted wife and mother, enjoyed being a homemaker, was a docent for the Wichita Art Association, enjoyed and appreciated Southwestern art with her husband Dean and delighted in home decorating. Her heart felt passion for the past 30 years has been to grow as a Christian believer and serve her beloved Heavenly Father. She inspired so many of us in the last years of her life with her courage, faith and optimism. Jackie Allison is survived by her husband Dean, her daughters June Shelton and Melissa Allison, granddaughter Shannon Shelton and great-grandsons Alex and Grey. Hill, Eugene F.
Hill, Eugene F., 86, father, husband, and friend to many, died at home, Thursday, December 30, 2004, surrounded by his family. Gene lived an adventurous and colorful life during his 86 years. A farm boy from Walnut, Kansas, he worked in the gold mines of Alaska, was a decorated combat veteran of WWII, became a successful business owner, later returned to Alaska as an Inspector for the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline, and then spent his “retirement years” as an Inspector for Rice & Goodness Engineers. He married Patricia McClarnan on November 29th, 1952, and became the proud and boastful father of six children: Joan M., Gina A. (Kyle), Joe (Jeralyn), Mary Patricia Kopf, Catherine Eaker (Bob), and Dennis M.; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Mary Adams, and brothers, Howard, Ben, and James Hill. He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Eric Hill. Rosary is Sunday, January 2nd, 7:00 P.M., and Rite of Christian Burial is Monday, January 3rd, 10:00 A.M., both at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Gregory, Nona Wilda, 77, retired insurance rater for Travelers Insurance, died Friday, December 31, 2004. Service 3:00 P.M., Thursday, Downing & Lahey East Chapel. Interment will take place in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta, KS. Nona was born November 8, 1927 in Andover, KS to Archie Willard and Margaret (Phillips) Allen. The family moved to Howard, KS when she was very young. In June 1942 they moved to Wichita. She graduated from East High in 1946. Nona married Glen Robert Gregory February 27, 1949. They started traveling after retirement in 1989. They have been in all four corners of the U.S. and most all points in between, also Canada and Mexico. They started going to Texas for the winters in the early 90’s. Nona was a caring person and enjoyed being with friends that she and Glen met through their travels. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing and her new love for the computer. She is survived by husband, Glen; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Dennis Perry and Deborah Suzanne and Thomas McCowan, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Perry and Amy and Dustin McCowan; great-grandchild, Kirsten Joy Perry; sister, Erma Fusco of Wichita; sister-in-law, Loretta Allen of Overland Park, KS. West, Dona Bell
West, Dona B., 76, died January 1, 2005 at Larksfield Place Retirement Community in Wichita, KS. She was born Dona Bell Isbell on Dec. 2, 1928, the youngest child of Everett Clifford Isbell and Gertrude Mae Siebenthaler Isbell in Enid, OK. Following graduation from Enid High School in 1946, Dona moved to Wichita to attend Wichita University. While attending college, she also worked at the old University Airport, where she met Robert Wesley Webber. They married in 1947 and made their home in Wichita, where they raised their two children. During that time, Dona worked for the Moberly, West and Jennings CPA firm, starting as a secretary and advancing to office manager. Divorced in 1968, she moved to Boulder, CO, where she and a sister established radio station KADE. While living there, she also attended the University of Colorado. In 1970, Dona returned to Wichita and married Ivan McCullough West on Oct. 2, of that year. They made their home there, and she worked with her husband in an investment business. Together, they traveled extensively, visiting Jamaica, Panama, Greece, Russia, Scotland, England and a number of other countries. They enjoyed socializing with a wide circle of friends until health problems began to limit Dona’s activities. Eventually, that circle narrowed to family members and a few very close friends. Dona is survived by her husband, Ivan of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Frances Webber of San Angelo, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Everett Hixson of Fort Scott; close friend and caregiver, Gail Peterson of Wichita; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judy West of Wichita and Jack and Diane West of Dallas, TX; step-daughter, Sara Bond and step-son, Tom West, both of Wichita; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lee Ives of Rogers, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Billye Isbell of Santa Monica, CA; sister-in-law, Kathleen Pipes of Wichita; 3 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister and business partner, Enid Pepperd and step-daughter, Rebecca West Norris. The Reverend Gary Cox will conduct funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at the University Congregational Church, 9209 E. 29th St. N., Wichita. Graveside services will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO. Callahan, David “Doc”, 84, passed away at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, KS, Thursday, February 24, 2005, after a short illness. David was born and raised in the metro Kansas City area. After a tour in the military during WWII, David moved to Wichita, KS. He worked with the United States Department of Agriculture as an inspector. He was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He leaves behind a nephew, Michael Callahan and his wife, Dee of K.C., MO and a niece, Patricia Callahan of Olathe, KS. May, Mary E., 56, United States Bankruptcy Trustee for Region Twenty (covering Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico), passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN while recovering from a bone marrow transplant related to her leukemia. She was born in Sabetha, KS, graduated from Avila University in Kansas City, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City law school. Mary had been a partner in the Wichita law firm of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson and Kitch prior to becoming the US Trustee for Region 20. She was a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Kansas Bar Association and the Wichita Bar Association. Mary served as the president and as a board member of many economic, legal and philanthropic boards such as the YWCA and the Kansas Humane Society and provided her legal skills in structuring the financing and development of Wichita community projects such as the Hyatt Hotel and Eaton Place. Mary was an avid sports fan and took great pride in supporting Shocker athletic programs. She became well recognized at WSU sporting events as she vocally provided referees and umpires with “assistance” to correct their judgment calls. Mary is survived by her husband of 23 years, Phil, brother Forest Myers, sons Douglas and Gardner, daughters-in-law Tina and Alison, grandsons, Connor, Reece, Isaac and Calvin as well as numerous extended family and friends. Memorial services will be held in Charles Koch Arena on the Wichita State University Campus at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Services are being handled by Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
