Theodore Neises
BELLE PLAINE - Theodore Neises, 70, died April 14, 1998, at his home in Belle Plaine.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Friday, both at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield. Burial will in Oxford Cemetery.

Rolland Laurie
GRENOLA - Rolland Merle Laurie, 65, of Grenola, died April 14, 1998, at his home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grenola Christian Church. The Rev. Wallace Wartick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Renal Care Group of Wichita and the Grenola Christian Church. Contributions can be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Laurie was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Norwich, to Bruce Madison and Betty Ann (Peyton) Laurie. He served with the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.
On Aug. 7, 1966, he married Evelyn Delorse Boulanger in Grenola.
Laurie was employed by the road departments of Elk and Cowley counties for 18 years.
He was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Grenola and had served 18 years as a board member of Rural Water District 1 in Elk County. He was a longtime member of the Grenola Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Laurie, Grenola; two sons, Donnie Laurie, Mulvane, and Martin Laurie, Grenola; two daughters, Karen Clubb and Betty Laurie, both of Moline; a brother, Milton Laurie, Rome, Ga.; and three sisters, Wanda Gould, Derby, Nona Reep, Winfield, and Kathryn Richards, Anchorage, Alaska.
Clinton Karrick
Services for Clinton William Karrick, 17, who died April 10, 1998, were held at 2 p.m. April 14 in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Nolan officiated.
The vocal music selection was "Peace in the Valley."
A memorial has been established with the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Hazel Jacoby
WICHITA - Hazel Geraldine Jacoby, 79, homemaker, of Wichita, died April 14, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Haysville United Methodist Church. Dr. Will Glaser will officiate. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery.
Friends may call at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, until 8 tonight.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Haysville United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
Survivors include her husband, James Harold Jacoby, Wichita; two sons, Richard Ray Jacoby, Ocracoke, N.C., and Larry L. Jacoby, New York City; and two grandchildren.

Neises was born April 25, 1927, in Wichita, to John M. and Ernestine (Schwenker) Neises. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951 to 1953.
On Aug. 25, 1954, he married Bernice Freund in Colwich.
A retired farmer, Neises lived in the Oxford and Belle Plaine area for many years. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Dan C. Matson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Wellington.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Neises, Belle Plaine; five sons, Michael Neises, Belle Plaine, Alfred, Albert and Lawrence Neises, all of Oxford, and John Neises, Wellington; six daughters, Margaret Rippe, Arkansas City, Janice Cartwright and Elaine Ellenz, both of Olathe, Kathleen Widener, Wichita, Lois Linnebur, Conway Springs, and Annette Maurer, Udall; two brothers, John Neises Jr., Geuda Springs, and Jim Neises, Belle Plaine; seven sisters, Louise Hoffman, Hope, Clara Zimmerman, Wellington, Helen Condlin, Argonia, Betty Smith, Scranton, Patricia Neises and Beverly Scobee, both of Belle Plaine, and Vivian Ward, Topeka; 31 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Joan Long
ARKANSAS CITY - A. Joan Long, 65, of Arkansas City, died April 15, 1998, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hawks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30.
A memorial has been established with the New Hope Assembly Church. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
Long was born May 26, 1932, in Granby, Mo., to Alvin and Bessie (Gibbins) Ball. She graduated from Granby High School in 1950.
On July 29, 1950, she married Wilbur Long in Granby. They moved to Arkansas City in 1952.
In Arkansas City, Long worked first at Matlock's IGA, for 13 years at the Mauer-Neuer Packing Plant, then for 12 years at Grose's IGA. She then became office manager at Ark City Cable TV, a position she held until her retirement. She was also co-owner of Long Electric in Arkansas City.
Long was a member of the New Hope Assembly-Church of God/Apostolic Faith and the New Hope Ladies Ministry of Services.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Long, and two sons, Mike and Gary Long, all of Arkansas City; her mother, Bessie Ball, and a brother, Floyd Ball, both of Granby, Mo.; two sisters, Wilma Parker, Monet, Mo., and Thelma Adams, Neosho, Mo.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
George Haywood
George Haywood Jr., 72, of 1410 Hackney, Winfield, died April 14, 1998, at Good Samaritan Village.
Military services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Monday.

Haywood was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Wynona, Miss., to George and Margaret (Jackson) Haywood. He was raised and educated in the Wynona area.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was stationed at Strother Field near Winfield and served as an aircraft tailgunner. Following discharge, he made his home in Winfield.
Haywood was employed as a mechanic for Winfield Motor Co. for many years. He retired in the 1980s.
A resident of Winfield for over 55 years, he had resided at Good Samaritan Village for the past month.
He was a member of Bethel AME Church.
He is survived by a brother, Charles Haywood, Clarksville, Tenn.
Eulah Beightol
Eulah Wanda Beightol, 96, longtime Atlanta resident, died April 15, 1998, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Douglass Cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Graber will officiate.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and until noon Monday.
A memorial has been established with the Atlanta United Methodist Church.
Born Aug. 15, 1901, near Douglass, she was a daughter of Marcellus Gaundy and Sally (Price) Gilmer. She was raised in the Douglass community and graduated from Douglass High School.
In 1919 she moved to Winfield and taught school.
On May 25, 1925, she married Roy Levi Beightol in Augusta. They lived in Winfield, Augusta and Oklahoma City before moving to a farm northwest of Atlanta. She taught at Prairie View School.
After retiring from farming, the Beightols moved to Atlanta. Her husband died in 1973. Beightol lived with her granddaughter, Delores Whiteman, and her family in Atlanta and Winfield from 1982 until moving to Cumbernauld Village in 1997.
She was a longtime member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and also attended Central Baptist Church in Winfield.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Gilmer Newton, Grove, Okla.; a stepson, Ralph Beightol, Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Richard Jarvis
Services for Richard L. Jarvis, 83, who died April 14, 1998, were held at 10:30 a.m. April 16 at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Steve Souther officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Music selections were "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagle's Wings." June Vasey was the organist., and Dr. James Schuppener was the vocalist.
Casket bearers were Craig Duncan, Chris Jarvis, Teri Coble, Sonny Henderson, Larry Kelley, David Coble and Dean Kennedy.
Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Church and William Newton Memorial Hospital.

Roy Hollis
OXFORD - Roy J. Hollis, 84, a retired Cessna Aircraft worker, died April 15, 1998, at his home in Oxford.
Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Fike officiating. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery.
Hollis was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Greenforest, Ark., to Charles F. and Mary A. (Smith) Hollis. On Aug. 29, 1933, he married Thelma Piertt in Douglass.
Hollis worked for Cessna for more than 23 years before retiring in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Hollis, Oxford; a son, Merl Hollis, Wichita; and two grandchildren.
