Rena Sitton

BURDEN - Services for Rena Pauline Sitton were held at 2 p.m. May 27, 1999, at the Burden United Methodist Church. The Revs. Sheila Ratzlaff and Art Hays officiated.

"Tribute Medley" was sung by Pat Lundy and Jim Redmon. Barbara Shively was the organist.

Burial was in Burden Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Max and Dorothy Cannon, Bud and Grace Lowe, Bud and Lulabelle Wolf and Sandy Stuber.

Casket bearers were George Buckman, Gary and Jim Lundy, Roger Lyke, Jim Redmon and Joe Walker.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Corey King

Corey King, 3, son of Richard King and Linda Mauzey of 406 Indiana, Winfield, died May 25, 1999, as a result of a car accident east of Winfield.

Services were scheduled for 3 p.m. today in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Corey was born July 29, 1995, in Osage County, Mo.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Betty Lacey, Arkansas City, and Myrna and Leland King Jr., Winfield; and his great-grandparents, Arlene and Frank White, Winfield.

Marjorie Jackson

SHIDLER, Okla. - Majorie Faye (Berry) Jackson, 78, of Shidler, died May 26, 1999, at the Pawhuska, Okla., hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Shidler United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Long officiating. Burial will be in Foraker Cemetery.

Friends may call at Grace Memorial Shidler Chapel until 7 p.m. today.

A memorial has been established with the Methodist Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 999, Gore, OK 74435.

Jackson was born Feb. 27, 1921, near Pearsonia, Okla., to Joe and Frona (Wood) Berry. She attended Foraker and Grainola schools and graduated from Grainola High School in 1939.

On May 28, 1940, she married Clyde Jackson in Newkirk.

Jackson had been a cook at the Grainola Senior Center and for the Shidler schools and had also been a teacher's aide in the Shidler schools.

Jackson was a member of the Grainola United Methodist Church and had attended the Shidler United Methodist Church since moving to Shidler in 1984.

Her husband died in 1982.

Survivors include a son, Robert Jackson, Grainola; two daughters, Linda Mazurier, Shidler, and Sharyn Davis, Winfield; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Roy George

SEDGWICK - Roy George, 66, a truck driver, of Sedgwick, died May 27, 1999.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burden Cemetery under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home of Newton.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and National Kidney Foundation.

Survivors include his wife, Sondra George, Sedgwick; two sons, Jerry Rice and Gary Rice, both of Wichita; four daughters, Vada Robert, Wichita, Rita Mann, Burden, Karen Phenneger, Sedgwick, and Toya Smith, Winfield; three sisters, Maxine Steadham and Leatha Mullins, both of Wichita, and Ethel Sanders, Apple Valley, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leonard Young

CEDAR VALE - Leonard Young, 71, died Thursday, May 27, 1999 at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Interment will be at the Grenola Cemetery, Grenola. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Wheeler Funeral Home, Cedar Vale, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the Cedar Vale Community Hospital and Clinic.

Young was born Sept. 4, 1927, to Otis and Lola (Hester) Young.

On March 3, 1950, he married Betty Wolfe in Cedar Vale. Young was a rancher and farmer, having lived in the Cedar Vale area since 1949. He retired in 1991 from the Haden Ranch.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Young, of the home; a son, Melvin, Cedar Vale; a daughter, Linda Bissell, Cedar Vale; three brothers, Jay and Jessie, both of Udall, and Howard, Augusta; two sisters, Opal Hull, Neodesha, and Belle Mitchell, Clearwater, and five grandchildren.

Helen Germaine Roe

Helen Germaine Roe, 67, of 1621 E. Seventh, Winfield, died May 28, 1999, at her home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

A memorial has been established in her name for Grace Episcopal Church, Winfield. Contributions may be made through the church or funeral home.

Roe was born Aug. 27, 1931, at Columbia, Mo. to John William and Alice Virginia Hart Luckie. Her family resided for many years in Missouri and Kansas. She attended high school in Abilene, and later attended Stevens College in Columbia, Mo.

Roe resided for many years in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, before moving to Winfield in 1989. She had been employed locally for a number of years with Daylight Donut Shop in Winfield.

She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Rick Roe, who died May 26, 1981, and Bill Roe, who died Dec. 2, 1993.

Survivors include: her daughter, Vicki Foster and her husband Charles, Arkansas City; her former daughter-in-law, Robyn Woodell, Winfield; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Williams, Melanie Favela, Angie Morgan, Julia Morgan, Andrea Ledford, and Amy Wheeler.

Roy George

Esther Littell

BURDEN - Services for Esther (Fair) Littell were held at 2 p.m. May 28, 1999, in the Burden United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sheila Ratzlaff officiated and sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Barbara Shively was the organist.

Burial was in Burden Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Brunton, Jeff Littell, Bob McClain and Tommy C. Thomas.

Casket bearers were Frank Brunton, Gordon Gray, Jim Littell, George Lowe, Jim Lundy and Bob Tatum.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Kemp

OXFORD - Lloyd Warren Kemp, 76, of Oxford, died May 28, 1999, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Oxford with the Rev. Curtis Fike officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery with military committal services by Tom Schwinn American Legion Post 881 of Wellington.

A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church's Christian Education Fund. Contributions can be made through Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home.

Kemp was born Feb. 13, 1923, near Wellington to Harry and Flora Belle Kemp. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1940.

Kemp was employed by Fredell Construction Co. in Houston in 1941-42. He served with the U.S. Army from 1943-46 and spent most of that time in India as a medical officer.

On Dec. 21, 1947, he married Donna Jean Farris in Oxford.

Kemp was a partner in the Donley, Kemp & Wise Hardware chain that had stores in Oxford, Belle Plaine and Udall. Later he owned and operated Kemp's Kitchen in Wellington until retiring in 1990.

The couple traveled throughout the world during their marriage.

Kemp was a member of the Oxford First Baptist Church, Tom Schwinn American Legion Post, Wellington Elks Lodge and Promise Keepers. He had served on the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and Wellington Futures Unlimited boards of directors.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Kemp, Oxford; two sons, Steven Kemp, Kennewick, Wash., and Kevin Kemp, Baxter Springs; a daughter, Diana Wheeler, Oxford; a brother, Virgil Kemp, Wellington; and nine grandchildren.

Lawrence Bailey

PONCA CITY - Lawrence H. Bailey, 91, longtime Ponca City resident, died May 29, 1999, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery and at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Kent Dorsey will officiate, and Grace Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church, 210 N. Fifth, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Bailey was born Feb. 16, 1908, at Tisdale, to Thomas Henry and Hattie (Fry) Bailey. He attended Winfield schools and graduated from Winfield High School in 1927.

Bailey was an apprentice electrician for Clift Electric Co. During World War II, he was employed by Beech Aircraft Co. in Wichita.

On May 2, 1931, he married Beulah Henderson at Canton. They moved to Winfield after the war and then to Ponca City in 1955. He was employed in refrigeration and heating.

Bailey was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Bailey, Ponca City; a son, Marlin Bailey, Richardson, Texas; a daughter, Judy Bailey, Belleview, Wash.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Roger Bailey, died in 1984.
