Edward Mills

UDALL - Edward R. Mills VII, 29, of Udall, died July 9, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident west of Udall on July 6.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place.

Mills was born Jan. 21, 1970, in French Camp, Calif., to Edward R. Mills VI and Patsy (Jackson) Orr. He attended California schools.

Mills worked as a machinist in Wellington.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Edward Mills VI and Roxane Mills, Tucson, Ariz.; his mother and stepfather, Patsy and William "Johnny" Orr, address not given; two brothers, Patrick Mills, Marion, Ill., and John Mills, Tucson; and a stepsister, Carrie Parker, Tyler, Texas.

A son, Michael Wendland, died in 1991.

Misty Wendland

UDALL - Misty Marie Wendland, 24, of Udall, died July 6, 1999, as a result of an auto accident west of Udall.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Cremation has taken place.

Wendland was born March 30, 1975, in Modesto, Calif., to Roxane Wendland. She attended school in California.

A homemaker, she had moved to Burden in the early 1990s before moving to Udall in April of this year.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Roxane and Edward R. Mills VI, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Richard Gilligan, and a daughter, ShyLee Marie Crumb, both of Udall; a brother, John Mills, Tucson; a sister, Carrie Parker, Tyler, Texas; and a stepbrother, Patrick Mills, Marion, Ill.

A son, Michael Wendland, died in 1991.

Helen Dean

Services for Helen Dean, 74, who died July 9, 1999, were held at 2 p.m. July 13 at Central Baptist Church. The Revs. Ken Beckner, Jerry Graber and Fred Houston officiated. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery.

Gwen Lumbert was the organist, and Wanda Andreas was the vocalist. Selections were "In the Garden," "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Dean's grandsons and her granddaughters' husbands.

A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Norman

HOWARD - Mildred Esther Norman, 86, of Howard, formerly of Piedmont, died July 12, 1999, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m July 14 at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka. Pastor Alan Hunter officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with Piedmont Christian Church and the Howard Senior Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Norman was born May 20, 1913, at Piedmont, to Cecil E. and Stella Florence (Thoman) Misner. She attended Harmony School.

On Oct. 25, 1932, she married Wesley Irving Norman in Yates Center. They made their home in the Piedmont area where Norman was a homemaker and seamstress.

She was a member of the Piedmont Christian Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Harmony Home Demonstration Unit.

In the late 1970s the Normans moved to Howard. He died July 3, 1984.

Survivors include a son, Larry Norman, Eureka; two daughters, Donna Meisch, Cedar Vale, and Darlene Meisch, Howard; a brother, Ivan Misner, Covina, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothea Rupp, Ness City, and Irma Engle, Wichita; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eunice Renfro

WICHITA - Eunice A. Abplanalp Renfro, 91, of Wichita, died July 13, 1999, in Wichita.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Cochran Mortuary Chapel of the Roses. The Rev. Efraim Lujan will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Highland Cemetery at Winfield.

Memorials have been established with Wesley United Methodist Church, 427 W. 21st St. North, Wichita, KS 67203, and Hospice Inc., P.O. Box 3267, Wichita, KS 67201.

Renfro was born June 6, 1908, near Rolla, Mo., to John and Viola David.

She married Frank Abplanalp who died in 1969.

She later married George Renfro who died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Robert Abplanalp, Winfield; four daughters, Freda Collins, Arkansas City, Wilma Williams and Doris Mauldin, both of Wichita, and Ruby Moore, Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Arvel David, Soda Springs, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce Voegele

ARKANSAS CITY - Joyce J. Voegele, 61, of Arkansas City, died July 14, 1999, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Ser Khu Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Newkirk Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Voegele was born July 28, 1937, in Anthony, to William and Velva (Roork) Pike. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1955.

On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Donald F. Voegele in Newkirk, and they resided in Arkansas City. He died in 1988.

Voegele worked for Eastman National Bank for a year and a half, then helped on the family farm west of Arkansas City. She had been employed by McCool's Flower Shop since 1985.

Voegele was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Voegele and Danny Voegele, and three daughters, Cindy Schalk, Donna Hinkel and Jane Dickson, all of Arkansas City; and 15 grandchildren.

Daniel MacKillop

Dr. Daniel MacKillop, 88, of 4 Fleetwood Drive, Winfield, died July 15, 1999, at Winfield Rest Haven.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial has been established with the First Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.

MacKillop was born June 22, 1911, in Cambridge, Mass., to Daniel and Christine (MacKay) MacKillop.

On May 3, 1941, he married Lou Linehan in Brighton, Mass. She died March 1, 1984.

After graduating from high school, MacKillop served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Public Health Department. In 1938 he graduated from Tufts University Medical School and served his internship in Lewiston, Maine. After that, he returned to Cambridge, Mass., and worked in general practice.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the ice breaker Comanche-Greenland Patrol as a medical officer.

After the war he served in Washington, D.C., at the Coast Guard building before going to Stanton Island Hospital in Columbia. He later served as a radiologist in Galveston, Texas, before being transfered to Norfolk, Va., as chief of radiology. He later served as chief of radiology and did his residency in New Orleans.

MacKillopp retired from the Coast Guard in 1962 and moved to Winfield where he worked as a radiologist at Snyder Clinic, William Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, Arkansas City's hospital and Wellington's osteopathic hospital. He retired in September 1975.

Survivors include a son, Dan MacKillop, Williston, Fla.; a daughter, Laura Scott, Norwalk, Conn.; two sisters, Dorothy Boydshipton, Shirley Center, Mass., and Katherine Robinson, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Jean Stovall

BURDEN - Jean C. Stovall, 68, of Burden, died July 14, 1999, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wheeler Funeral Home in Burden. Larry Womacks will officiate. Burial will be in Burden Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to service time Monday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, the Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Stovall was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Slaton, Texas, to D.W. "Doc" and Esther (Box) Walston.

On Jan. 19, 1947, she married Donald Stovall in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Burden from Dumas, Texas, in 1974.

Stovall worked in maintenance for Southern Kansas Telephone in Burden.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Stovall, Burden; a son, Marvin Leon Stovall, Lewiston, Idaho; two daughters, Brenda Blessing, Crystal Beach, Texas, and Ricky Jo Pulpan, Brooker, Texas; a sister, Jo Nell Jackson, Crawfordsville, Ind.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
