Wayne Seaman
MESA, Ariz. - Wayne Ellsworth Seaman, 83, of Mesa, died July 18, 1999, at his home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery
in Winfield.
Seaman, who was born in Winfield, worked as a supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He held several positions in Kansas and Missouri and retired at Springfield, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude "Trudy" Seaman, Mesa; a son, Gerald Seaman; a daughter, Judith Henderson; a stepdaughter, Linda Etter; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Clarence Wilhelm
WEBB CITY, Okla. - Services for Clarence T. Wilhelm Jr., 59, who died Sept. 19, 1999, were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the First Church of God in Webb City, Okla. The Rev. Charles Richey officiated. Burial was in the Foraker, Okla., cemetery.
Donna Richey, organist, performed "How Great Thou Art" and "The Family of God."
Casket bearers were Tim Smith, Marion Tyson, Dean Wainwright, Gary Webb, James E. Wilhelm and Todd Wilhelm.
A memorial has been established with the American Leukemia Society.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Day
Services for Kenneth L. Day, 83, who died Sept. 19, 1999, were held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 23 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Dane Massey officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Sara Weinert was the organist. Kathy Waite sang "You Are My Hiding Place" and "It Is Well With My Soul." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace."
Honorary casket bearers were Bret Bates, Marvin Brannan, Ryan Day, Eli Dust, Troy Fox, Herschel Klassen and Kenny McNutt.
Casket bearers were Art Carrillo, Jim Day, Russ Larson, Bob Massey, Eli Rush and Tracy Schumacher.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and the Evangelical Free Church.
Delmar Foley
Delmar Wayne Foley, 85, of Good Samaritan Village in Winfield, died there Sept. 23, 1999.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Roselawn Cemetery
at Salina.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial has been established with Good Samaritan Village.
Foley was born June 4, 1914, in Lewistown, Mo., to Joseph E. and Bertha (Cheatum) Foley.
On June 12, 1947, he married Wilma Hayes in St. Louis. She died Feb. 25, 1989.
A World War II veteran, Foley was active in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been a driver for Continental Trailways bus line and later drove trucks across the country.
A former resident of Salina, Coffeyville and Hays, he moved to Winfield in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Mike Foley, Winfield; a daughter, Patty Hayes, Richland, Wash.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gene Hatfield
Services for Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Hatfield, 76, who died Sept. 21, 1999, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 23 at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith Dudeck officiated. Burial was at 1:30 p.m. in Belle Plaine Cemetery.
Laura Belle Haines was the organist, Leta Beth Wheeler was the pianist and Lymon Wheeler was the vocalist. Music selections were "The Lord's Prayer" and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Don McVay, Barry Harp, Bill Campbell, Ed Snyder, Loren Sweeney and Lyman Wheeler.
Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale was in charge of arrangements.
William McBee
Services for William E. McBee, 53, who died Sept. 19, 1999, were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Art Hays officiated. Burial was in Atlanta Cemetery.
Gay Mackey sang "What a Day That Will Be." The Rev. George Bloomquist, organist, played "Because He Lives" and "Amazing Grace."
Casket bearers were Adam Arbuckle, Dick Henderson, Eddie Henley, Bob Kenneson, Bob Row and Justin Whiteman.
Memorials have been established with the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department and the First Baptist Church of Burden.
Awbrey Holt
ATLANTA - Awbrey S. Holt, 88, lifelong Atlanta area resident, died Sept. 23, 1999, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will be in the Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial has been established in his name for the First Responders of Atlanta in recognition of their service. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Holt was born April 13, 1911, on a farm west of Atlanta, to William and Clara Effie Kennedy Holt. He was reared in the Atlanta area, and received his early education at the Prairie View Rural School. He attended Atlanta High School, where he graduated in 1930, and began farming with his family as a youth.
On Sept. 15, 1936, he married Betty Bals in Winfield. She survives.
The couple made their first home on a farm near Atlanta. Following World War II, they lived briefly in Albuquerque, N.M., returning to their rural Atlanta home in 1949. The couple lived and worked on their farm for more than 50 years. Holt also operated a road grader for Richland Township for about 30 years. He moved to Atlanta after retirement.
A lifelong farmer and stockman, he was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church, where he had served as an elder, and currently attended Lakeview Church. He was president of the Atlanta Senior Citizens Organization for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; his son, Sheldon Holt, Enid, Okla.; his daughters, Janice Billiter, Atlanta, and Kathleen Willard, both of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Wilma Holt and Carolyn Enz; eight brothers and three sisters.
Robert St. Sauveur
WELLINGTON - Robert Leo St. Sauveur, 70, of Wellington, died Sept. 22, 1999, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Prairie Lawn Cemetery
in Wellington. The Rev. Andrew J. Seiler will officiate. Frank Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with Wheat Capitol Manor, 400 South C, Wellington, KS 67152.
St. Sauveur was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Providence, R.I., to Leo J.A. and Yvonne (Benoit) St. Sauveur. From 1946 to 1950 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
On Sept. 12, 1975, he married Doris Reynolds in Wellington.
St. Sauveur was a tool designer at Cessna for many years and retired from the City of Wellington as a power plant employee.
Survivors include his wife, Doris St. Sauveur, Wellington; three daughters, Denise James, Wamego, formerly of Winfield, Yvonne Diaz, Silt, Colo., and JoAnn McLain Sewell, Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mildred Reeves
Services for Mildred Ann Reeves, 86, who died Sept. 21, 1999, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 24 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Bill Butram officiated. Burial was in Floral Cemetery.
Music selections were "Beulah Land," In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace."
Casket bearers were Darren, Kevin and Steve Doll, Guy Patton, Andrew and Paul Puckett and Kyle Tillerson.
A memorial has been established with the Gore, Okla., United Methodist Church.
Joe Sutton
WICHITA - Joe W. Sutton, 76, of Wichita, died Sept. 27, 1999.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Community United Methodist Church. Hillside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc., P.O. Box 3267, Wichita, KS 67201.
Sutton was a retired upholsterer at Fishers Upholstery.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Sutton, Wichita; two sons, Richard Sutton, Winfield, and Wynn Sutton, Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Shirley Dunaway, Pell City, Ala.; two sisters, Marjorie Williams, Fort Morgan, Colo., and Donna McNabb, Waverly; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Aubrey Holt
Services for Aubrey S. Holt, 88, who died Sept. 23, 1999, were held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Dennis King officiated. Burial was in Wilmot Cemetery.
Vera Enz was the organist. Songs were sung by Lynette Enz Liberge, Stephen Enz and Anita Enz and the Holt grandchildren. The congregation sang "He Lives" and "For God So Loved the World." Postlude music included "An Evening Prayer," recorded by Elvis Presley.
Honorary casket bearers were Dean Krug and Paul "Sandy" Stuber. Casket bearers were Brenda Smith, Brett Billiter, Anita Enz, Stephen Enz, Sheldon Holt, Lynette Liberge, Carla Owen and Clint Williard.
