Carol Williams

WICHITA - Carol Ann Williams, 50, of Wichita, formerly of Winfield, died Dec. 2, 1999.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wichita.

Friends may call at Smith Mortuary in Derby from 6 to 8 tonight.

A memorial has been established with the Susan G. Kohlman Breast Cancer Foundation, 4015 E. Harry, Wichita, KS 67218.

Williams was the lead clerk at a Wonder/Hostess Bread store and a Mary Kay consultant.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Williams, and a son, Aaron Williams, both of Wichita; a daughter, Christina Williams-Squires, Derby; her mother, Norma Mordhorst, a brother, Paul Mordhorst, and a sister, Glenda Straub, all of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and one grandchild.

Norman Rush

OXFORD - Norman Donald Rush, 75, of Oxford, formerly of Winfield and Sedan, died Dec. 1, 1999, at Riverview Manor in Oxford.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.

A memorial has been established with the Senior Citizens Center of Sedan. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Rush was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Sedan, to Leo H. and Lonie V. (Evans) Rush. He was raised in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School in 1942.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

On Sept. 13, 1946, he married Mary Catherine Rush in Sedan. They made their home in Winfield.

Rush worked as an electronic engineer for Boeing Aircraft Co. from 1950 to 1969 and as head of maintenance for William Newton Memorial Hospital from 1969 to 1989. After his retirement, the Rushes returned to Sedan. His wife died in 1994.

Rush was a member of the Sedan Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Lind, Arkansas City, and Billie Donely, Eureka; a brother, Bobby Rush, Augusta; a sister, Betty Tower, Winfield; and three grandchildren.

Phillip Bradley

Services for Dr. Phillip Bradley, 67, who died Nov. 24, 1999, were held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 27 in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home. Deacon Thomas Herlocker officiated.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery. American Legion Post 10 performed military honors and Winfield Lodge 110 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons performed graveside rites.

Robert Bradley delivered the eulogy.

Carolyn Eastman was the organist. Music included "Angel," "Please Remember Me" and "How Great Thou Art."

Honorary casket bearers were Dana and Alan Dillion, Jim and Deanne Schiff, Wilda Wiseley, Stan Sawyer, Loyette Olson, Howard Schneider, Bob Bradley and Tammy and Todd Heptig.

Casket bearers were Carroll Wiseley, Jim Heck, Alan Bryant, Dan Arnett, Rob Powell and Daryl Schiff.

Raymond Muret

Services for Raymond C. Muret, 83, who died Dec. 1, 1999, were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Ellie Foster officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

June Vasey was the organist, and Wilma Anglemyer was the vocalist. Music selections were "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Charles Finney, Marvin Hostetter, Joe Muret, Rick Reynolds, Jim Godfrey and J.O. Brown.

Memorials have been established with the Salvation Army and Tisdale United Methodist Church.

Frederick Kill Jr.

BURDEN - Frederick Alexander Kill Jr., 64, of Route 1, Burden, died Dec. 4, 1999, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Moline Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 tonight.

A scholarship fund has been set up for Kill's children. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Kill was born Feb. 12, 1935, at Elk Falls, to Frederick Alexander and Wilma B. (Richards) Kill. He graduated from Elk Falls High School and served in the U.S. Army.

For several years he was a truck driver for Starcraft Co. in Independence. He was also employed in oil field and construction work and drove trucks in Wyoming and Kansas.

On Dec. 22, 1978, he married D. Diane Mahan in Scott City where he was employed at cattle feed lots and raised racing horses.

He was a member of Scott City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7773.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Kill, Burden; five sons, Frederick Alexander Kill III and Robert Joseph Kill, both of Longton, Richard Montgomery Kill, Sycamore, and Michael Stephen Kill and Frank Leroy Kill, both of Burden; three daughters, Stephanie Lynn Kill, Longton, and Kathryn Dawn Brogan and Tammy Nicole Kill, both of Burden; a brother, John Joseph Kill, Haysville; two sisters, Ruth Wilma Poteete, Niataze, and Teresa Ann Bleil, Nixa, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Aletha Walls

HOWARD - Aletha May Walls, 90, of Severy, died Dec. 2, 1999, at Howard Twilight Manor.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 in Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka. The Rev. Don Harper officiated.

A memorial has been established with the Climax United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home.

Walls was born Sept. 29, 1909, on a farm in Greenwood County, to Charles Nathan and Emma Leotha (Nitsche) Longfellow.

She attended school in Climax and graduated from Climax High School in 1927. She lettered in basketball and won several trophies in tennis.

She then moved to California where she was employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. for several years.

On Sept. 12, 1946, she married Crockett Alvin Walls in Hinton, W.Va. They lived in California for many years before moving to Climax. They later moved to Missouri and then to Severy.

Walls had resided at Howard Twilight Manor for the past year.

Survivors include her husband, Crockett Walls, Severy; a brother, Charles Longfellow, Climax; and two nieces.

Charles Teter

Charles Phillip Teter, 74, of Route 2, Winfield, died Dec. 3, 1999, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miles Funeral Service. Following cremation, private inurnment ceremonies will be held.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials have been established with Grouse Valley Manor in Dexter and the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Teter was born Aug. 9, 1925, south of Oxford, to Donald and Frances (Holman) Teter. He attended Oxford schools and graduated from Winfield High School in 1945.

On June 15, 1947, he married Faye Thompson. They made their first home in Wichita and also lived in Arkansas City and Winfield. For 50 years Teter was a construction electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 271.

Teter was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church; the Kansas-Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Association; Cub Scout Troop 666 in Wichita, and Boy Scout Troop 314 and Explorers Post 313, both in Winfield.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Teter, Winfield; two sons, Ron Teter, Rose Hill, and Donald Teter, Andover; two daughters, Connie Faye Teter, Winfield, and Bonnie Kaye Creed, Wellington; a brother, Leonard Teter, Bartlesville; four sisters, Velma Johnston and Illene Warren, both of Sand Springs, Okla., Edith Field, Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Delores Penner, Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Daisy Lanning

TUCSON, Ariz. - Daisy Marie Siemer Lanning, 89, of Tucson, formerly of Oxford, died Nov. 26, 1999, in Tucson.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home in Oxford. The Rev. Shirley Barnum will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Oxford Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Viola Township Library at Viola. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Lanning was born Dec. 19, 1909, in Belle Plaine, to Richard and Susan Francis (Callum) Siemer. When she was an infant, the family moved to a farm northwest of Oxford. She lived there until her marriage to Ervin Lanning on Sept. 1, 1928, in Newkirk.

The Lannings lived in the Sumner County area until moving to Wichita in 1943 and later to Valley Center. Her husband died Nov. 22, 1980.

Lanning moved to Tucson in 1981. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Barney E. Lanning, Tucson; a daughter, Claire Lanning-Charlebois, Viola; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Nellie Rogers

Nellie E. Rogers, 92, formerly of 908 E. Sixth, Winfield, died Dec. 5, 1999, at Winfield Rest Haven.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery near Arkansas City.

Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service until 9 tonight.

Memorials have been established with Winfield Rest Haven, First United Methodist Church and the Arthritis Foundation. Contributions may be made at the church or funeral home.

Rogers was born June 5, 1907, at Douglass, to Lee Martin and Margaret Catherine (Lackey) Johnson. She graduated from Douglass High School.

On Nov. 17, 1923, she married Charles Lee Rogers in Winfield. They made their first home in Wilmot and moved to Winfield in 1939. Rogers worked in a creamery and ran a restaurant in Winfield. Her husband died Nov. 25, 1981.

Rogers had resided at Winfield Rest Haven since January 1996.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, LAPM, Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Winfield, and White Shrine of Arkansas City.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Martin, Winfield; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Wayne Rogers and Lawrence Rogers, preceded her in death.
