Winifred Wesbrook

MOLINE - Winifred Catherine Wesbrook, 83, longtime resident of Moline, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Elk Manor Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m Friday at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Pastor Ted Smith will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Dexter Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4015 E. Harry, Wichita, KS 67218. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Wesbrook was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Cowley County, to Robert Stewart and Mary Rebecca (Shinn) Wilson. She attended the Eaton school and graduated from Burden High School.

On Sept. 18, 1937, she married Melven Everett Wesbrook in Winfield. They made their home in the Moline community for most of their lives. A homemaker, she was a member of Moline Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Melva Harris, Boise, Idaho; a brother, Percy Wilson, Burden, a sister, Mildred Wesbrook, Winfield; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald Westfall

Ronald Mansel Westfall, 55, of 1413 Hackney, Winfield, died Jan. 16, 2000, at his home.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 tonight.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Creative Community Living's Harris Road House. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Westfall was born Feb. 3, 1944, in Osceola, Iowa, to Robert Mansel and Mildred DeLong Westfall. He was educated in Osceola schools and graduated from Clark Community High School. He later attended Cowley County Community College.

Westfall was employed as a medication aide at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center and several nursing homes in Winfield. He was later a senior teacher at Creative Community Living in Winfield.

He attended Millington Street Baptist Church and was a board member for Winfield Area Emergency Medical Service.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Watts, Winfield; four sons, Rick Andrews, Osceola, Iowa, Rodney Andrews, Ankeny, Iowa, Brian Westfall, Dexter, and Christopher Watts, Winfield; two daughters, Charissa Watts and Kayla Watts, both of Winfield; his mother, Mildred Westfall, Winfield; three brothers, David Westfall, Republic, Mo., Steve Westfall, Arkansas City, and Shawn Westfall, Branson, Mo.; two sisters, Sharon Veatch, Mitchellville, Iowa, and Michelle Jones, Mount Vernon, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Wayne Chrismer

SEDALIA, Mo. - Robert Wayne Chrismer, 33, of Sedalia, died Jan. 17, 2000, in Gainesville, Fla.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, Mo. The Rev. Tommy Barnhart will officiate. Burial will be in the Laddonia, Mo., cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Chrismer was born Sept. 30, 1966, in Mexico, Mo., to Robert L. and Vera (Burkhead) Chrismer. He grew up in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1984. He later moved to Sedalia, then to Mexico and returned to Sedalia in 1999.

He was a pipefitter for Fire Protection Systems of Nashville, Tenn., and a member of the Mexico Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Vera Chrismer, Sedalia; a sister, Robyn Bailey, Winfield; and his grandparents, Roy and Darline Chrismer, Laddonia, and Wilburn and Blanche Burkhead, Alton, Mo.

Rose Marie Hankins

Services for Rose Marie Hankins, 58, who died Jan. 13, 2000, were held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 18 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Shawn Sturm officiated. Private inurnment services will be held later.

Special music included "The Rose," "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.

Coma Jones

Services for Coma Irene Jones, 90, who died Jan. 15, 2000, were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Steve Souther officiated. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Arkansas City.

June Vasey was the organist. Dave Cheshire sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."

Honorary casket bearers were Carmen Gonzales, Bill Lazenby, Charles Martin, Jim Phillips, Wayne Ramsey, Floyd Stuckey and Lloyd Stuckey.

Casket bearers were Dave Cheshire, Roland Hayes, Joe Krafels, Bill Wheeler, Bob Wheeler and Byron Wheeler.

A memorial has been established with the Total Health Care Facility at Cumbernauld Village.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Evangeline Jackson

STILLWATER, Okla. - Evangeline Ida Jackson, 77, of Stillwater, formerly of Winfield, died Jan. 18, 2000, at Grace Living Center in Stillwater.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. Drs. B. Gordon Edwards and James P. Gragg will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery at Winfield.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 919 Skyline, Stillwater, OK 74074.

Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater is in charge of arrangements.

Jackson was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Las Vegas, N.M., to the Rev. Roderick Colin and Lily (Young) Jackson. The family moved in 1926 to Chehalis, Wash., in 1928 to Trinidad, Colo., and in 1930 to Winfield. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1940 and Southwestern College in 1944. She then attended the University of Chicago and received a master's degree from the School of Social Service Administration in 1948.

Jackson was employed as a case worker at the Methodist Children's Home Society of Michigan in Detroit in 1946. In 1948 she returned to Chicago where she was employed by the Chicago Child Care Society as a case worker and student supervisor.

Jackson moved to Ponca City in 1961 and was employed as a social worker in the district child welfare office of the Oklahoma Department of Public Welfare. She moved to Stillwater and served as district supervisor for a five-county child welfare district from 1963 to 1969.

Jackson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a volunteer for Mobile Meals, the Stillwater Hospital Auxiliary and the Stillwater Nursing Home.

She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Academy of Certified Social Workers, Oklahoma Health and Welfare Association, American Association of University Women and Altrusa Club.

Ronald Westfall

Services for Ronald Mansel Westfall, 55, who died Jan. 16, 2000, were held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. K.B. Murray officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Vocal music included "Daddy's Hands," by Holly Dunn, and "Go Rest High on That Mountain," by Vince Gill.

Honorary casket bearers were residents of the Harris Road facility of Creative Community Living.

Casket bearers were Buddy Bailey, Jim Jones, Neil Kirkpatrick, Randy Otto, Roy Walker and Matt Welch.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Creative Community Living's Harris Road house.

Fern DeLong

HOWARD - Fern Emma DeLong, 78, of Howard, died Jan. 19, 2000, at her home.

Private services will be held. The family requests that no cards, flowers or food be sent. They encourage memorial contributions to the Elk County Council on Aging or Howard Friendship Meals. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home.

DeLong was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Sedan, to Allie W. and Mary Eleanor (Temple) Brown. She attended Chautauqua County rural schools and graduated from Sedan High School. She also attended Wichita Business College.

On June 29, 1940, she married Jack Eugene DeLong in Sedan. They made their home in Bartlesville where she was a homemaker. Her husband died in 1968.

DeLong moved to Howard in October 1987.

Survivors include three sons, William DeLong, Marietta, Ga., Robert DeLong, Cummings, Ga., and Donald DeLong, Tempe, Ariz.; a daughter, Debbie Griesel, Howard; eight grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and five great-grandchildren.

Warren Sunderland

ARKANSAS CITY - Warren H. Sunderland, 72, of Arkansas City, died Jan. 20, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home in Winfield. The Rev. Mike Cosgrove will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association, and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.

Sunderland was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Winfield, to George H. and Minnie O. (Warren) Sunderland. He attended Winfield schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Oct. 23, 1946, he married Ida Lue Thompson in Winfield.

Sunderland was in the drywall business for 30 years before becoming a shipping clerk at Gordon-Piatt Energy Group Inc.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Sunderland, Arkansas City; two sons, Robert Sunderland, Arkansas City, and William Sunderland, Ponca City; two sisters, Ernestine DeVore, Eureka, and Alma Baucom, Yucca Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
