William Davis
ARKANSAS CITY - William E. Davis, 78, of Arkansas City, died Feb. 19, 2000, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Riverview Cemetery. Pastor Don Kimsey will officiate. Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Davis was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Arkansas City, to Samuel and Lulie (Brown) Davis. He attended Arkansas City schools.
On June 1, 1940, he married Lola Mae Barnickle in Winfield, and they made their home in Arkansas City.
From 1943 to 1946 Davis served in the U.S. Navy in the Admiralty Islands.
A construction worker for various companies, he was a member of the Boilermakers Union, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Davis, Arkansas City; a daughter, Judy Cox, Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A son, Ronald Davis, preceded him in death.
Jim Engstrom
PONCA CITY - James "Jim" Engstrom, 53, of Ponca City, died Feb. 18, 2000, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Resthaven Memorial Park. The Rev. Terry Long will officiate. Grace Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Engstrom was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Elyria, Ohio, to Alfred Engstrom and Thelma (Goodrich) Groves. He attended school in Ohio and Ponca City High School.
In 1963 he joined the Navy and served until retirement. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
On Jan. 23, 1966, he married Dora Epperson in Ponca City where they made their home.
Survivors include two children, James Engstrom Jr., Arkansas City, and Jamie Engstrom, Winfield; his mother, Thelma Groves, Ponca City; two brothers, Art Stingley, Ponca City, and Ed Kovach, Virginia; a sister, Pam Warren, Lorain, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Walter Potter
CHANDLER, Okla. - Water A. Potter, 81, of Chandler, formerly of Winfield, died Feb. 18, 2000, at Bryant Nursing Center in Edmond, Okla.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gerald Graber will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight.
Potter was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Waldron, to Claude and Opal (Finuf) Potter.
In 1967 he married Betty Jo Todd in Kansas. She died in March 1991.
Potter worked at Boeing and other aircraft companies as an inspector for 21 years. From 1978 to 1981 he owned and operated Potter Mower and Chainsaw in Winfield.
Survivors include two sons, Jody Potter, Edmond, Okla., and James Potter, Denver; a daughter, Debbie McConaghy, Hutchinson; a brother, Clint Potter, Salina; a sister, Opal May Stark, Hawaii; and three grandchildren.
John Priest
John W. Priest, 82, of Winfield, died Feb. 19, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Priest was born Dec. 15, 1917, in rural Winfield, to John W. and Agatha (Terrill) Priest.
On June 2, 1950, he married Ruth Irene Baxter in Winfield. She died Aug. 19, 1998.
Priest worked at Boeing Aircraft for 20 years and for Smith-Moon Manufacturing of Winfield for 20 years. He retired in 1982.
A resident of Winfield Rest Haven for the past year and a half, he was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Priest, Santa Clara, Calif.; and two sisters, Elsie Moon, Winfield, and Betty Calkins, Philpot, Ky.
Armond Sweet
GRENOLA - Armond W. Sweet, 73, of Grenola, retired Binney & Smith machine operator, died Feb. 18, 2000.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard from 6 to 9 tonight.
A memorial has been established with the Grenola Senior Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Edith Sweet, Grenola; a brother, Raymond Sweet, Topeka; and three sisters, Mabel Corle and Shirley Gillespie, both of Moline, and Evelyn Futhey, Grenola.
Roy Barlow
ARKANSAS CITY - Roy Sylvester Barlow, 68, of Arkansas City, died Feb. 21, 2000, at his home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hawks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Barlow was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Newkirk, to Roy Edward and Stella (Hudson) Barlow. He attended grade school in Newkirk and Attucks High School in Ponca City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1949.
On July 7, 1952, he married Donna Louise Ware in Winfield.
Barlow served with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He worked as a stationary engineer for Southwestern Bell until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Spencer Ralston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1254 and Shelton Beaty American Legion Post 18.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Barlow, Arkansas City; a son, Dortch Bradford, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Barbara Moore, Ponca City, and Patricia Franklin, Oklahoma City; a sister, Josephine Watson, Arkansas City; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Donald Davidson
ALBANY, Ore. - Donald Dean "Rocky" Davidson, 65, of Albany, formerly of Winfield, died Feb. 19, 2000, at Albany General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Albany Eagles Lodge.
Davidson was born June 27, 1934, in Winfield, to Raymond and Mary (Anglemier) Davidson.
In the 1950s he left Kansas to live in the Los Angeles area where he worked for the Asbestos Workers Union. He lived there for 17 years, then moved to Phoenix before moving to Albany in 1974. In Albany he worked in the construction industry and then for Cummings Transfer for the last 20 years.
On March 30, 1980, he and his wife, Carolyn, were married in Reno, Nev.
He was a member of the Albany Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Davidson, Albany, Ore.; a son, Randy Davidson, Oklahoma; four daughters, Lauren Davidson, California, Sharon Davidson, Oklahoma, and Cheryl Payne and Marcia Evans, both of Kansas; three stepdaughters, Debra Sexton, Albany, Cheri Bylund, Lebanon, Ore., and Pamela Martin, Salem, Ore.; his mother, Mary Sleight, Winfield; three sisters, Syrilda Gallaway, Port Lavaea, Texas, Raydena S. Coffman, Wichita, and Betty McComb, Whitney, Texas; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Robert Foresman
Robert Foresman, 30, of 1318 E. Sixth, Winfield, died Feb. 20, 2000, at his home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church. Cremation will take place later. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Foresman was born Aug. 19, 1969, in Bartlesville, to James B. and Barbara (Runkle) Foresman. He attended schools in Bartlesville and high school in DeWitt, Mich., and Pittsburg.
After attending Pittsburg State University, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1993.
On June 22, 1996, he married Laurel Unruh in Pittsburg. They made their home in Dodge City where he worked as a civil engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation. In May 1997 they moved to Winfield where he was a construction engineer for KDOT.
Foresman was a member of the First Christian Church. While attending college, he was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society and was an officer of Chi Epsilon civil engineering society. He has a class D master license and jump master rating in the sport of skydiving and had made over 600 jumps. He was also a volunteer with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Cowley County.
Survivors include his wife, Laurel Foresman, Winfield; and his parents, James and Barbara Foresman, and a brother, James R. Foresman, all of Pittsburg.
