REGAN, Vincent J. Regan, 78 years old, of Atchison, KS. died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at his home in Atchison.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 29th, 2005 at the Sacred Heart Church, with Fr. Gerard Senecal, O.S.B. as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison, KS. A parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 28th, 2005 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, visitation will follow until 8:30 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tony Regan Memorial Scholarship Fund, Sacred Heart Church or to ACES.

Mr. Regan was born on May 20, 1926 in Effingham, KS. the son of John F. and Angela A. (Lemke) Regan. He attended and graduated from Maur Hill in 1944. He attended St. Benedicts College for a year and a half. Mr. Regan was a nine-year U.S. Navy veteran; he had worked at Midwest Grain Products for 10 years, and had owned and operated the Regan Floor Covering for over 30 years. He retired in 2000. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, a 4th Degree -Knights of Columbus member and Past Grand Knight, was a member of the Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post #6, Atchison, and the V.F.W. Post #1175, Atchison. He was a former member of the Bellevue Country Club, and presently a member of the Pineview Country Club. Mr. Regan had played for the Atchison Colts- Semi-pro baseball team and enjoyed playing golf and especially his grandchildren.

Vincent was married to Phyllis Jean Brull on May 11, 1953 at St. Benedicts Church. Phyllis preceded him in death on Feb. 29, 2004. His parents, a son, Anthony “Tony” Regan, 1983, a brother and two sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include; five sons; Timothy and his wife Sue Regan, Visalia, CA, Patrick and his wife Amy Regan, Atchison, KS., Philip and his wife Jodi Regan, St. Joseph, MO., Daniel and his wife Trish Regan, Atchison, KS., Matthew and his wife Sarah Regan, Atchison, KS., three daughters; Terri and her husband Bruno Zioerjen, Valpico, Fl., Karen and her husband Jerry Blunt, Atchison, and Catherine and her husband Neal Smith, Atchison. One brother, Wulfran Regan, Lawndale, CA., and twenty-three grandchildren.

MUNSTERMAN, Ada May Munsterman, 98, Rushville, MO passed away Friday, March 25, 2005 at Medicalodge of Atchison.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2005 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial at Mt. Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Bethel Cemetery and left in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Munsterman was born August 28, 1906 in Wilmore, KY. the daughter Newton Berryman and Laura (Stoker) Bishop. Ada moved to the Rushville area at an early age. She was a member of Lewis and Clark Baptist Church. She enjoyed mushroom hunting and was a very active lady. She loved her family.

She married John R. Munsterman. He preceded her in death in 1975. She is also preceded in death by a son John N. Munsterman in 1998. 2 brothers, 2 sisters and her parents.

Ada is survived by her children George Munsterman of Rushville, MO; Ronald Munsterman of Excelsior Springs, MO; Carol Reeves of Rushville, MO and Thomas Munsterman of Rushville, MO. 12 Grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

STUCKER, Edmund R. Stucker, 93, Horton, KS (formerly of Effingham) died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Tri-County Manor, Horton, KS.

The body has been cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Hospice, Effingham Union Church or Town & Country Senior Center, and may be mailed to O’Trimble Funeral Home, C/O 800 Kansas Ave. Atchison, KS 66002.

Mr. Stucker was born July 11, 1911 in Shannon, Ks, the son of Jess & Pearl (Hamner) Stucker. He was a farmer for many years, served as city manager of Effingham, and was mayor in 1986. He was an active member of Effingham Union Church for many years. He married Lola V. Palmgren on October 3, 1932 in Colby, Ks. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2004. Together they shared twenty winters in Rio Grande Valley of Texas at the Orange Grove RV Park. Mr. Stucker was a longtime member of the Abdullah Shrine.

Survivors include son, Rex & wife Linda Stucker, Atchison, KS; and daughter Leta Rae & husband Tom Bosworth, Gulf Breeze, Fl. Four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren. Sister, Elva Johnson, Orlando, Fl. and several nieces and nephews.

BESINGER, Lola Mae Besinger, 76, of Cummings, KS, died Wednesday evening, March 23, 2005 at Cray Senior Manor in Atchison, KS.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2005 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster, KS. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in Atchison. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Besinger are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Northeast Kansas Multi-County Hospice.

Mrs. Besinger was born January 12, 1929 at Huron, KS, the daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm and Edna Pearl (Fuhrman) Buddenbohm. She graduated from Huron High School in 1946. She worked for the former LFM Foundry in Atchison from 1947 to 1950 in the payroll department. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster, very active in the POW Chapter in Leavenworth, KS, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, working on family genealogy, and attending monthly luncheon’s with her Huron High School friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Lola Mae and Robert D. Besinger were married on December 3, 1947 in Atchison, KS. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Mark Alan Besinger of Overland Park, KS and Robert Michael Besinger of Atchison; one daughter, Monica R. Donaldson of Atchison; two grandchildren, Brent Donaldson of Atchison and Eric Donaldson of Wathena; one great grandson, Cole Donaldson of Atchison; and two nephews, Gene Latzke of Lancaster and Gary Corcoran of Lecompton, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lorene Latzke Haverkamp and Irene Corcoran Robertson.

ACHESON, Mary Elizabeth Acheson, 82, Atchison, KS passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Cray Manor in Atchison, KS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial at Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Weston, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran School Grant Fund.

Mrs. Acheson was born June 22, 1922 in Sioux City, IA the youngest of 4 children to William and Mary (Williams) Bartelt. Mary retired from Arensberg IGA and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. After retirement she served as a volunteer for a number of years at Atchison Elementary and Troy Elementary Schools.

She married Howard Acheson on June 23, 1979, he preceded her in death in September of 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her daughters Carol Munsterman and her husband Thomas, Claudia Jean Norman and her husband Gerald. Grandchildren Rhonda Hook, Christina Price, Melissa Dean, David Norman, Tammy DiGioia and Pamela Toy, and 13 great grandchildren.

THORNE, Edwin Eugene Thorne, 81, of Atchison, KS., formerly of Farmington, KS., died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Atchison Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 19th, 2005 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Albright officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM on Thursday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Assoc.

Mr. Thorne was born on April 16, 1923 in Farmington, KS., the son of Henry and Eliza (Bailey) Thorne. He attended grade school in Farmington, KS., and graduated from the Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, KS. Mr. Thorne was a farmer in the Farmington community and worked in the maintenance department for 32 years at the former Rockwell International, Atchison, KS. Mr. Thorne was a member of the Farmington Christian Church, was an honorary member of the American Legion, member of the Atchison County Farm Bureau, and enjoyed bowling.

Mr. Thorne is survived by a son; Jim Thorne, Leavenworth, KS. a daughter; Mrs. Debbie Zuck, Barnett, MO., two brothers; Robert Thorne, Effingham, KS., and Glenn Thorne, Lancaster, KS., a sister, Mrs. Arlene McCullough, Atchison, KS. four grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and several nieces, and nephews. His parents and several brothers, and sisters preceded him in death.

UNDERWOOD, Clyde Melvin Underwood, 82, of Atchison, KS., died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at his home unexpectedly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19th, 2005 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM on Friday, March 18th, 2005 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or to Alzheimer’s Assoc.

Mr. Underwood was born on July 29, 1922 in the Good Intent Community, Atchison, KS., the son of Frank L. and Jessie H. (Reid) Underwood. He attended the Harmony Grade School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1941. Mr. Underwood was a carpenter and did construction, before joining the maintenance department of MGP, formerly Midwest Grain Products. He retired in July 1987 after 19 years. Mr. Underwood was a U.S. Army/ Air Force veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Atchison. He was a member and past Commander of Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post #6, Atchison, member of the V.F.W. Post # 1175, Atchison, KS., a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge, Atchison, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and especially his family.

Clyde was married to Dorothy Shell on April 27, 1946. Mrs. Dorothy Underwood survives of the home. Additional survivors include four sons; Jim and his wife Mechelle Underwood, Richard (Dick) and his wife Melinda Underwood, Mike Underwood, and John and his wife Mario Underwood, all of Atchison, KS., two daughters, Linda Underwood, and Barbara and her husband Rodney Griffin, all of Atchison, KS., thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His parents, a brother, Gene Underwood, and one grandson preceded him in death.

BRULL, Velda Mae Brull, 76, of Iola, KS. formerly of Atchison, KS. died Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph, MO.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 18th, 2005 at the Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, Ks., with Fr. Gerard Senecal. OSB as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison, KS. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with visitation to follow until 8:30 PM. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Condolences to the family may be left on-line at www.beckerdyer.com.

Velda M. Bingham was born on April 24, 1928 in Iola, KS., the daughter of William C. and Bertha M. (Jones) Bingham. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1946. Mrs. Brull had worked as a clerk, office assistant for the Atchison County Treasurer’s office for several years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, and enjoyed sewing, bowling, her flower gardening, and especially her family.

She was married to Joseph A. Brull on Sept. 13, 1946. Mr. Brull preceded her in death on July 12, 1996. Her parents, a stepfather, Jessie McGee, two sons, Michael J. and Thomas M. Brull, and two daughters; Vicki L. Hernandez, and Kathryn Kay Brull also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son; Christopher W. Brull, St. Joseph, MO., a sister, Mrs. Vivian Zyskowski, Iola, KS., six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
