John Gamsjager

CEDAR VALE - John Gamsjager, 17, of Cedar Vale, died May 24, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, as the result of a car accident.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Vale Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Vale Cemetery. Wheeler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the Cedar Vale Baptist Church Youth Fund.

Gamsjager was born Oct. 11, 1982, in Winfield, to Maralea (Johnson) Brazee. He was in the 11th grade at Independence High School. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, hunting and fishing. He was looking forward to working for the Frank Voth wheat harvesting crew this summer.

He was a member of the Cedar Vale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Maralea Brazee, a brother, Cooper, and his grandparents, Mark and Mary Evelyn Johnson, all of Cedar Vale.

Lieuween Baucom

YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. - Lieuween A. Baucom, 74, of Yucca Valley, died May 20, 2000, at her home. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Desert City Church of Christ in Yucca Valley. Scott Utter will officiate. Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, Calif.

Baucom was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Winfield, to Millie Opal (Warren) and George Harley Sunderland.

On April 26, 1952, she married Jack Edward Baucom in Oklahoma. He died in 1996.

For over 20 years, including about 10 at William Newton Memorial Hospital, she worked as an X-ray technician.

Survivors include five daughters, Karen Sue Tupper, Yucca Valley, Calif., Beverly Ann Wiles, Scottsdale, Ariz., Jackie Lynn Harris, Springfield, Ore., Lue Ann Franklin, Weed, Calif., and Merrilee Edwards, Moreno Valley, Calif.; a son, Richard Joe Snyder, Wichita; a sister, Ernestine DeVore, Eureka; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Toby Domeny

Services for Toby Domeny were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Music was "In the Garden" and "Go Rest High on that Mountain."

William Sympson

Services for William Burd Sympson were held at 11 a.m. May 26, 2000, at Tisdale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ellie Foster officiated. Inurnment was in Tisdale Cemetery.

Keith Anglemyer was the organist, and Wilma and Arlan Anglemyer were the vocalists.

Casket bearers were Phillip Miller, Ralph Miller, Roger Moon, Arden Moon, George Liermann, Robert Hamm, Don Roberts and Wayne Kurtz.

A memorial has been established with Tisdale United Methodist Church.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Aletha Doolittle

Services for Aletha Dorles Doolittle were held at 10:30 a.m. May 27, 2000, at Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. John Stone officiated, and interment was in Wilmot Cemetery.

Revival presented "Never Grow Old," "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You."

Honorary casket bearers were Jack Finley, Bob Redford, Johnnie Wells, Robert "Buck" Rogers and John B. Story.

Casket bearers were Karl Bonjour, Clarence and Johnnie Brookings, Roy and Frank Doolittle Jr., Clay Story and Chet Sweet.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society for colon cancer research.

Virginia Kincaid

MULVANE - Virginia J. Kincaid, 77, of Mulvane, died May 27, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Senter-Smith Mortuary.

Memorials have been established with the Derby Church of Christ and American Heart Association.

Kincaid was born June 12, 1922, in Peck, to Connie and Carrie (DeWater) Hukle. On Nov. 1, 1941, she married Harold Kincaid in Mulvane. She was a homemaker.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Kincaid, Udall; two daughters, Janice Parkey, Mulvane, and Carol Crumb, Tulsa; a brother, Keith Hukle, Arkansas City; three sisters, Violet Yadon, Hudson, Colo., and Patricia Vaughn and Wynona McLain, both of Wellington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

June Martin

ARKANSAS CITY - June Levell Martin, 65, of Arkansas City, died May 26, 2000, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Parker Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating.

Friends may call at Hawks Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A memorial has been established with the American Legion Auxiliary School Pencil Box Fund. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Martin was born June 1, 1934, in Konawa, Okla., to James Amos and Mattie Marie (Baldman) Martin. The family lived in Davis, Okla., for eight years before moving to Ponca City where she graduated from high school.

Martin was employed as a housekeeper at St. Joseph Hospital in Ponca City and for Blackwell General Hospital for 15 years. She moved to Tulsa and then to Arkansas City in 1991.

Martin was a member of Shelton Beaty American Legion Post 18 Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sisters, Eva Jane Farley, Arkansas City, Marie Tigert, Davis, Okla., and Imogene Jolly, El Paso, Texas; four brothers, Jack Martin, Davis, Okla., Billy Martin and George Martin, both of Ponca City, and Jerry Martin, Calumet, Okla.; and her niece and caretaker, Betty Jones, Arkansas City.

Ruth Ash

ELLINWOOD - Ruth LaVerne Ash, 94, of Ellinwood, died May 29, 2000.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kimple Funeral Chapel. Debra Rains will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Union Cemetery at Winfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight.

A memorial has been established with Meals on Wheels.

Ash was born Aug. 30, 1905, in Winfield to Rillie (Hill) and John Riley Mitchell.

On Sept. 4, 1925, she married Arthur Ray Ash in Winfield. He died Nov. 20, 1960.

A homemaker, Ash had lived in Ellinwood since 1936. She also worked as a secretary for R & S Pipe Pulling. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a sister, Gladys Lahti, Fresno, Calif.

Marvin Cox

ENID, Okla. - Marvin L. Cox, 60, of Enid, formerly of Arkansas City, died May 27, 2000, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Services will be at 3 p.m Wednesday in Riverview Cemetery at Arkansas City. Friends may call at Hawks Funeral Home until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Cox was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Arkansas City, to Ethel Louise (Freeman) and Paul Eugene Cox. He was raised and educated in Arkansas City.

On May 31, 1963, he married Mary Lou Sanders in Newkirk.

Cox worked at Mauer-Neuer Rodeo Meats for several years in Arkansas City. He moved to Enid eight years ago and was warehouse supervisor for Advance Food Co..

He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was active with the Central Oklahoma Collie Breeders Association.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Cox, Scribner, Neb., and Whitney Cox, Arkansas City; a daughter, Felicia Cox, Garland, Texas; a brother, Donald E. Cox, Grove, Okla.; a sister, JoAnna White, West Valley, Utah; and eight grandchildren.
