Robert Warbinton

ANTHONY - Robert L. Warbinton, 75, of Anthony, died June 21, 2000, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Elliott Mortuary Chapel. The Revs. Carol Hallman, Rick Thornton and Harald Wisegarver will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Anthony Congregational Church or Hospice Inc.

Warbinton was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Oswego, to Helen (Mingle) and Ward Warbinton. On July 19, 1947, he married Jane Mawhiney in Altamont.

A retired assistant manager for the Anthony Farmers Cooperative, Warbinton was a member of the Anthony Congregational Church and the Harper American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Warbinton, Anthony; two sons, David Warbinton, Winfield, and Doug Warbinton, Webb City, Mo.; a daughter, Debra Rice, Nevada, Mo.; a brother, Ronald Warbinton, Harper; a sister, Barbara Parsons, Wichita; and six grandchildren.

Donald Wartick

CASPER, Wyo. - Donald Spence Wartick, 88, formerly of Oxford, died June 21, 2000, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Oxford United Methodist Church. Pastor Wayne Handle will officiate. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery.

Friends may call at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to noon Monday.

Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Wartick was born May 21, 1912, in Oxford, to Lottie (Spence) and Simon Wartick. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1929.

On June 17, 1936, he married Arnetta E. Knowlton in Oxford. She died Dec. 27, 1992.

In 1937 Wartick began his career with Shell Oil Co. in the Oxford area. He lived in Midland, Texas, prior to moving to Denver in 1971, and retired in 1977 after 40 years with Shell.

He was a member of the University Methodist Church in Denver.

Survivors include a son, Curtis Alan Wartick, Casper, Wyo.; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Edith Beale

HUTCHINSON - Edith I. Beale, 92, of Hutchinson, died June 22, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Dr. D. Allen Polen Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 1219 N. Main, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday.

A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church of Hutchinson.

Beale was born Sept. 14, 1907, in Riverside, to Emma Ida (Roth) and Arthur H. Cowles. She had resided in Hutchinson since 1917.

On June 24, 1924, she married George O. Beale in Hutchinson. He died March 20, 1978.

She was a former Avon sales representative and worked for the Hutchinson Election Board.

A member of the First United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school at the former Irwin Memorial Presbyterian Church, was a Pink Lady at the former Grace Hospital, a Cub Scout den mother of pack 304, and a member of the PTA and the Jefferson Janes Family Community Education Unit.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Beale, Hutchinson, and Larry Beale, Winfield; two daughters, Velma Geist, Hutchinson, and Helen Gregg, Wichita; two half-sisters, Violet McClintock, Orleans, Ind., and Alberta Lampkins, Seattle, Wash.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Billy Goldsmith

ARKANSAS CITY - Billy R. Goldsmith, 66, of Arkansas City, died June 22, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Boxman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Redeemer Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Goldsmith was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Arkansas City, to Ida I. (Nickle) and Jessie E. Goldsmith. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1952.

On May 2, 1953, he married Wanda Lee Jones in Arkansas City where they made their home.

Goldsmith worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until October 1953 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1955 and worked for Wright's Softwater from 1957 to 1961. He then began work at Apco Oil Refinery where he worked 34 years before retiring from Total in 1996.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Boy Scouts of America. He was active in Scouts for 50 years. In 1950 he attended the National Jamboree in Valley Forge, Pa., at age 16.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jones, Arkansas City; a son, Phil Goldsmith, Winfield; two daughters, Linda Juden, St. Charles, Mo., and Connie Nugen, Great Bend; a sister, Dorothy Wagner, Arkansas City; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Richard Young

WICHITA - Richard E. Young, 26, of Wichita, died June 22, 2000.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Jackson Mortuary, 1125 E. 13th. Burial will be at Tisdale Cemetery in Winfield at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

A memorial has been established with Envision, a workshop for the blind.

Young lived in Winfield for about six years, from the time he was three until he was about 9. He worked in parts assembly at Envision.

Survivors include his father, Rick Holt, Ponca City; his mother, Clarann Young, a sister, Carol Young, a brother, Markell Young, and his grandmother, Wilma Young, all of Wichita.

Rachael Finley

ETHEL, W.Va. - Rachael Leah Finley, 89, of Ethel, died June 22, 2000, at Logan General Hospital.

Services were held at 11 a.m. June 26 at Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Logan, W.Va. The Rev. Orville Syner officiated. Burial was in the Nelson family cemetery in Kirk, W.Va. Honorary casket bearers were Erman and Evelyn Altizer, Jay Louderback, Frank and Ann Cantrell and Larnce Wade Nelson. Casket bearers were family and friends.

Finley was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Mingo County, W.Va., to Rhoda (Browning) and George Nelson.

She was a former cook at Ethel Grade School and Logan General Hospital. She was a member of Henlawson Trinity Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Solomon Finley, Winfield, and Bruce Finley, Ethel, W.Va.; two daughters, Rachel Ann Toney, Cross Lanes, W.Va., and Ethel Scott, Winfield, W.Va.; a sister, Norma Ooten, Dingess, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Herbert Finley, a son, Freddy Finley, and two daughters, Virginia Faye Finley and Thelma Ingram, preceded her in death.

Bobbie Fruits

EVANSTON, Wyo. - Bobbie Lou Ellen Stonebraker Fruits, 53, of Evanston, died June 24, 2000, at Evanston Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crandall Funeral Home.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Roundhouse Restoration Inc.

Fruits was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Council, Idaho, to Robert Stonebraker and Verla Ray Wall Clingingsmith.

On Jan. 6, 1967, she married Roy Fruits in Evanston.

She was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and the Wyoming Archeology Society and on the board of the Evanston Historical Preservation Committee. She was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Order of the Arrow. A painter and woodworker, she volunteered at archeological digs all over Wyoming.

Survivors include her husband, Roy M. Fruits, Evanston; a son, Russell J. "R.J." Fruits, Laramie, Wyo.; her mother, Verla Clingingsmith, Evanston; a brother, Randy Stonebraker, Green River, Wyo.; and two sisters, Doris Spencer, Salt Lake City, and Julie Dewey, Montana.

Lela Tibbs

Services for Lela Bell Tibbs were held at 10:30 a.m. June 24, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Forrest Robinson officiated. Burial was in Akron Cemetery.

Vocal music was "I Saw the Light" by Hank Williams Sr.

Casket bearers were Jerry Abbott, Douglas, Jerry and Russell Ashley, Don and Ron Button and Jess Larimore.
