Louise Lancaster
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Louise Lancaster, 79, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Arkansas City, died July 3, 2000, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Vancouver.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hawks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Lancaster was born March 31, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., to Bessie Mildred (Lynch) and Charles Franklin Laughery Sr.
On April 27, 1940, she married Donald Day Lancaster in Winfield.
They lived in Arkansas City. A porcelain artist, Mrs. Lancaster taught china painting for several years. Her husband, a Santa Fe Railroad engineer, died Feb. 13, 1995. She moved to Vancouver in February 1998.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Arkansas City and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive and Freight Engineers. She also volunteered at the Arkansas City Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include a son, Donald Lancaster, Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Beatrice Walerczyk, Vancouver, Wash., and Barbara Houghton, Oxford; her mother, Mildred Bradshaw, Winfield; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Beverly Kuhlmann, preceded her in death.

Joshua Meloy
LONGTON - Rominee Rubena Meloy, Wyona Theresa Meloy and Joshua Blue Franklin Meloy Jr. died July 3, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. They were newborn children of Joshua and April Meloy of Longton and died shortly after birth.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Longton Cemetery. Lloyd G. Zimmerman will officiate. Zimmerman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include their parents, Joshua and April Meloy, Longton; their maternal grandfather, Carl Rader, Longton; maternal grandmother, Rubena McCaine, Three Rivers, Texas; paternal grandparents, Gerold and Tresa Meloy, Moline; great-grandmother, Wanda Wallace, California; and great-grandfather, Kenneth Meloy, Caney.
Bruce Mousley
H. Bruce Mousley, 69, of 1402 Lynn, Winfield, died July 5, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miles Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial has been established with the College of the Ozarks. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Mousley was born July 2, 1931, in Leroy, to Esther (Mosley) and Homer Mousley. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1949.
From 1953 to 1955 he served in the U.S. Army.
On March 16, 1952, he married Barbara Means in Winfield where they made their home.
Mousley worked as an experimental planner for Raytheon Aircraft Co. for 42 years. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in Boy Scouts, serving as scoutmaster for Troop 313 at the church for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Mousley, Winfield; three sons, Tim Mousley, Salina, and Randy Mousley and Jeff Mousley, both of Wichita; a daughter, Robin Mousley, Oklahoma City; a sister, Marguerite Klingenberg, Winfield; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Thad McCabe
Services for Thad S. McCabe were held at 2 p.m. July 7 in the Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Steve Souther officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery
in Arkansas City.
The United States Air Force Honor Guard from McConnell Air Force Base performed military committal services.
Special vocal music selections were "Amazing Grace," "In the Garden" and "Wind Beneath My Wings."
A memorial has been established with the World War II Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Harold Morton
A memorial service for Harold Morton was held at 2 p.m. July 7 at Grace United Methodist Church. Celebrants were the Rev. Jerre Nolte, pianist Roxy Callison and vocalist Don Hale.
Music included "Will There Be Any Stars," "This World Is Not My Home" "Because He Lives," "Amazing Grace," "When We Get to Heaven" and "I'll Fly Away."
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church and Cumbernauld Village Hope Fund.
Patricia Carter
HOWARD - Patricia Louise "Pat" Carter, 65, of Howard, died July 6, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Harper will officiate. Burial will be held later.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and the Howard Senior Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Carter was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Topeka, to Mary Nancy (Burd) and Alfred Richard Byers. She attended Eureka Elementary School and Allison Junior High and Wichita North High School, both in Wichita.
On April 20, 1951, she married Dean Clair Carter Sr. in Wichita. She was employed by General Communications, Casual Corner and Maple Street Dairy in Wichita. She was also a self-employed seamstress.
Carter was a member of the Prairie Quilt Guild of Wichita, American Business Women Association, Theta Rho Girls and Genealogical Society. She was a longtime member of University Baptist Church in Wichita.
The Carters moved from Wichita to Howard in 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Carter, Howard; two daughters, Sharron Stangle, Howard, and Vicki Wheeler, Ozark, Mo.; two sons, Dean Carter Jr., Fall River, and Steve Carter, Wichita; a brother, Robert Byers, Phoenix; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Howard Morton
Bruce Mousley
A memorial service for H. Bruce Mousley was held at 10:30 a.m. July 8, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Steve Souther officiated.
Irma Scholfield was the organist. Arlan and Wilma Anglemyer sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and "How Great Thou Art."
A memorial has been established with the College of the Ozarks.
Frances Smith
AUGUSTA - Frances M. Smith, 98, of Lake Point Nursing Center in Augusta, formerly of Winfield, died July 8, 2000.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery
in Winfield. Friend may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home until 8 tonight.
A memorial has been established with Lake Point Nursing Center.
Smith was born Feb. 4, 1902, northeast of Mulvane, to Barbara (Schmidt) and John Nachbor. She was raised and educated in that area.
On Dec. 31, 1923, she married Charles W. Frazier. He died April 27, 1939.
On Jan. 8, 1954, she married James A. Smith. He died April 28, 1979.
An operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Winfield, she retired after 35 years of service.
In 1944 she moved from Moline to Winfield and in 1985 from Winfield to Augusta. She had resided at Lake Point Nursing Center since 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Peterson, Augusta; a sister, Eunice Schweitzer, Derby; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara Sparlin
ARKANSAS CITY - Barbara Eunice Selman Sparlin, 56, of Arkansas City, died July 9, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hawks Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Cox will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hillside Cemetery
in Purcell, Okla. Pastor Barry McConathy will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Sparlin was born July 3, 1944, in Phoenix, to Effie Beth (Roden) and Willie Ray Selman. The family moved to the Purcell, Okla., area when she was an infant. She graduated from high school in Wayne, Okla.
On July 12, 1965, she married Raymond Sparlin in Gainesville, Texas. They lived in Purcell until moving to Arkansas City in 1970.
She was a member of IXL Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Sparlin, and a son, Steven Dean Sparlin, both of Arkansas City; a daughter, Debra Rae Sparlin, Irving, Texas; her parents, W.R. and Effie Selman, Purcell; three sisters, Mary Rinehart and Carolyn Brown, both of Purcell, and Shirley Branscum, Oklahoma City; five brothers, Ray Selman, Earlboro, Okla., Terry Selman, Wayne, Okla., Donald Selman, Tecumseh, Okla., Gary Selman, Purcell, and Jim Selman Wichita Falls, Texas; and three grandchildren.
