Hazel Neubecker
DEXTER - Hazel Katherine Neubecker, 93, formerly of Grenola, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Grouse Valley Manor in Dexter.
Her service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grenola Christian Church. The Rev. Wallace Wartick will officiate, and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Grenola Christian Church. Contributions can be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Born Feb. 7, 1907, south of Grenola, she was a daughter of Henry Edd and Mary Ann (Baughman) Eaglin. She attended Wolf Creek rural school and graduated from Grenola High School.
On Feb. 6, 1929, she married Glenn Edward Neubecker at Independence. They lived in the Grenola and Winfield communities, and she was a homemaker. In recent years they lived at Grouse Valley Manor. Her husband died July 28, 1997.
Neubecker was a longtime member of the Grenola Christian Church and active in Royal Neighbors of American and other community activities.
Survivors include two sons, Dwain Neubecker, Winfield, and Dwight Neubecker, Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Worman, Ellinwood, and Shirley Friend, Wichita; two sisters, Ann Lawhon, Lakewood, Calif., and Marie Walker, Cherryvale; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Kermit Sterns
BURDEN - Kermit I. Sterns, 61, of Burden, died Dec. 21, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wichita.
His service was to be at 2 p.m. today at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita, with the Rev. Arthur Hays officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established with Disabled American Veterans.
Sterns was born May 19, 1939, in Missouri, to Kermit I. and Jewel Bethene (Bledsoe) Sterns.
He married Charlotte Morris, and they resided in Burden. He was a law enforcement officer before his retirement.
Survivors include a son, Monty Wayne Sterns, Granite Falls, N.C.; a daughter, Rhonda Jayne Kent, Kansas City, Mo.; two stepsons, Gerald Wayne Lowe, Wichita, and Earl Lowe, Andover; two stepdaughters, Jeanie Davis and Peggy Jane Breaker, both of Andover; four grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Gordon Sutton
Gordon D. "Gordie" Sutton, 43, of 1221 Fuller, died Dec. 21 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 this evening and until the service Wednesday.
Zora Turner
Zora Turner, 83, of Winfield, died Dec. 20, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Miles Funeral Service with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 this evening.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Born March 17, 1917, at Buffalo, Okla., she was a daughter of Lewis and Ethel (Shields) Venn. She attended school in Buffalo.
She married Bob Turner, and they later divorced.
For many years she lived with her brother, Lewis Venn, and his wife, Marie, in Winfield. In 1994 she moved to Good Samaritan Village.
Survivors include a son, Dale Potter, a daughter, Frances Zimmerman, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Clyde Allen
Clyde C. Allen, 65, of 332 Houston, Winfield, died Dec. 21, 2000, at his home.
An inurnment service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Highland Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced later by Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.
Allen was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Norvel and Laura Allen.
He lived for many years in the Omaha, Neb., area where he worked in construction. He had moved to Winfield earlier in December.
Survivors include a son, Neal Allen, Omaha; five daughters, Christina Allen and Bea Mort, both of Winfield, and Patricia, Silva and Mary Allen, all of Omaha; and three grandchildren.
Dewey Brown
DEXTER - Dewey W. Brown, 102, of Dexter, died Dec. 26, 2000, at Grouse Valley Manor.
Burial will be in La Plata City Cemetery, La Plata, Mo. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brown was born Sept. 13, 1898, in Dexter.
On Feb. 8, 1923, he married Mary Brown in Wakeeta, Okla. They both taught school locally, then taught in Wichita from 1925 to 1955. After retiring, they moved to La Plata, Mo.
His wife died April 5, 1994. A son, Merle D. Brown, also preceded him in death.
A nephew, James DuFour, Wichita, survives.
Lloyd Casebolt
Lloyd Junior "Casey" Casebolt, 68, of Winfield, died Dec. 26, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Ozro Cemetery
southeast of Cedar Vale.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service until 9 this evening.
A memorial has been established with Medicalodge of Douglass. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
Casebolt was born June 30, 1932, at Cedar Vale, to Lloyd Alfred and Neva Marie (Gordon) Casebolt. He attended school in Cedar Vale.
As a young man he hauled hay with his father and was later employed as a mechanic by Western Motor Co. of Winfield.
Casebolt served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received many medals, including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge in 1954, he served with the Army Reserve to complete eight years of service.
In 1956 he married Helen Phillips. They divorced in 1963.
On March 19, 1964, he married Lola Parris, and they resided in Winfield where he was employed by Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. They later moved to Oklahoma City and Garden City. He retired in 1985 after working for Minter Wilson Drilling Co. in Garden City for 10 years.
The couple then moved to Eufaula, Okla. Following his wife's death on Nov. 24, 1997, he moved back to Winfield.
Casebolt was a member of the Church of Christ of Canadian, Okla. He was also active in the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Heinz, Garden City, and Sandy Casebolt, Winfield; an adopted daughter, Helen Casebolt, Oklahoma; his mother, Neva Marie Casebolt, Winfield; a brother, Marvin Casebolt, Wichita; a sister, Marilyn Denison, Overland Park; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant children, Ronald Lloyd and Lois Elaine.
Gary Cody
ROCK - Gary L. Cody, 57, of Rock, formerly of Augusta, a Cessna Aircraft machinist, died Dec. 24, 2000.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rock United Methodist Church with burial in Stalter Cemetery. Pastor Riet Stonger will officiate, and musicians will be pianist Leta Beth Wheeler and vocalist Melinda Woody. Casket bearers will be Perry and Terry Cody, Howard and Jack Boucher, Randy Collett and Marvin Wells. Downing & Lahey Mortuary of Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Cody was born Dec. 10, 1942, in El Dorado, to Roy F. and Martha (Boucher) Cody.
On Dec. 2, 1967, he married Ednamerle Wilcox in Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Ednamerle Cody, Rock; two sons, Chuck Cody, Douglass, and Al Cody, Mulvane; his mother, Martha Cody, Augusta; a brother, Larry Cody, Leon; and three grandchildren.
Earlene Barnett
SEDAN - Earlene Barnett, 74, of Sedan, died Dec. 25, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Graves-Baird Chapel in Sedan. The Rev. Danny Ginn will officiate, and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Purdue House at Via Christi-St. Francis, Sedan First Baptist Church and Sedan Hollow Project.
Born June 21, 1926, at Copan, Okla., she was a daughter of Earl and Goldie Creola (Faulk) Bowersock.
On Feb. 24, 1946, she married DeWayne Barnett in Sedan.
Barnett was a retired merchant and a member of the Sedan First Baptist Church, Sedan Chamber of Commerce, KEC Women's Group, Beta Sigma Phi and Eastern Star and a volunteer at the Sedan Hollow Project.
Survivors include her husband, DeWayne Barnett, and two sons, Larry and Jerry Barnett, all of Sedan; a daughter, Terri Wiseman, Oxford; a brother, Bobby Lee Bowersock, Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Billie Jean Polk, Derby; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
