Richard Bingham

WELLINGTON - Richard Roy Bingham, 67, of Wellington, died Jan. 30, 2001, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Oxford. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery.

Friends may call at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Bingham was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Harrison, Ark., to Martha Mae (Vine) and Bert Lynn Bingham. He graduated from Valley Springs (Ark.) High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bingham moved from Kansas City to Oxford in 1959 and to Wichita in 1961. He returned to Oxford in 1973 and moved to Wellington in 1987. He had been a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad for several years before retiring in March 2000 due to his health.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Fishel, El Dorado, and Tammy Bingham, Wellington; two brothers, Clarence Bingham, Wichita, and Howard Bingham, Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Anna Mae Elliott, New Hampshire, and Lee Hawkenberry, Marshall, Ark.; a granddaughter and three stepgrandsons.

Two infant sons, Shane Troy Bingham and Justin Terrance Bingham, preceded him in death.

Phil Perrin

ARKANSAS CITY - Phenis Jesse "Phil" Perrin, 83, of Arkansas City, died Jan. 30, 2001, at Riverview Manor in Oxford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hawks Funeral Home. The Rev. Kathy Gann will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at South Haven.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Perrin was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Woodward, Okla., to Ollie Delilah (Albright) and Robert Bennit Perrin. He married Maxine McNett on Feb. 18, 1943, in Wellington.

In 1947 they moved to the Hunnewell area where they operated Hunnewell Grocery Store for several years. Perrin worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita for 36 years before retiring in 1981. They moved to Arkansas City in 1990.

His wife died Aug. 1, 1994.

Perrin was a member of South Haven United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronald L. Perrin, Arkansas City; a brother, Albert Junior Perrin, Guymon, Okla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Janice J. Perrin, preceded him in death.

Addie White

SALISBURY, Md.- Addie Marie White, 81, of Salisbury, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Wicomico Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Services will be Saturday at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. The Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park.

Born in Powellville, Md., she was a daughter of Mary Ellen (Griffin) and George Handy Wilkins.

A member of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, she attended Pittsville Full Gospel Church and was active in the Sunshine Club at Faith Community Church.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Melvin L. White, Salisbury; two daughters, Julia Valliant, Hampton, Va., and Trudy Arbuckle, Grenola; a twin sister, Mattie Townsend, Salisbury; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Beulah Harper

Services for Beulah May Harper were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 30, 2001, in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated.

Tammy Hyatt, Harper's granddaughter, sang "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Her grandsons served as casket bearers.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tonnie Morris

RIPLEY, Okla. - Tonnie Morris, 82, of Ripley, formerly of Winfield, died Jan. 25, 2001, at his home.

Services were at 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at the First Baptist Church in Cushing, Okla. The Rev. James Manual officiated. Burial was in Silver Star Cemetery near Cushing. Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing was in charge of arrangements.

Morris was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Garvin County, Okla., to Rosa (Butler) and Dane Morris. He was raised in the Cushing area. In 1983 he married Phyllis Corteer in Stillwater, Okla.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Morris, Ripley; three brothers, Melvin Morris and Johnnie Morris, both of Cushing, and Odell Morris, Duncan, Okla.; a sister, Elizabeth Worley, Phoenix; and seven stepgrandchildren.

Hazel Megredy

EL DORADO - Hazel V. Megredy, 96, of El Dorado, died Jan. 30, 2001.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Partners In Education-Hazel Megredy Children's Symphony Concert Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Megredy was born Nov. 17, 1904, in Longton, to Mary (Wilson) and Daniel Millard. She graduated from Longton High School.

On Feb. 10, 1924, she married Floyd Thomas Megredy in Longton. They moved to El Dorado in 1963, and she was a hoemmaker. Her husband died April 9, 1980.

Megredy was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a church circle.

Survivors include a son, Robert F. Megredy, Los Angeles; two daughters, Margaret Sloan, Palo Alto, Calif., and Trudy Webster, Paul, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, including Tod Megredy, Winfield; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A son, Richard Megredy, and a daughter, Virginia Kingsbury, preceded her in death.

Elizabeth Grantham-Graebner

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Mary Elizabeth Grantham-Graebner, 96, formerly of Winfield, died Jan. 27, 2001, in Escondido.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Private burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home before the service Saturday.

Grantham-Graebner was born Feb. 5, 1904, in Norman, Okla., to Coralie (Shreves) and Frederick Stanton Elder. She spent her early school years in Kansas City, Mo., and then lived in Winfield with her grandparents, Judge and Mrs. John Gray Shreves. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1922 and from Southwestern College in 1928.

She taught school briefly in western Kansas before her marriage to Harold Eugene Grantham in 1929. He died in 1954.

Grantham-Graebner taught briefly at Stevenson Elementary School and was the children's librarian at Winfield Public Library from 1957 to 1973 when she retired.

She married Col. Eugene Graebner, a retired Air Force chaplain, in 1974 and resided in Winfield. He died in 1980.

She was a member of Chapter CU of P.E.O. for 50 years.

For the past nine years she had made her home in Escondido with her son and daughter-in-law.

Survivors include a son, John Grantham, Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Marjorie Crow, Seal Beach, Calif., and Marion Moran, Rockford, Ill.; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Loren Daggett

WELLINGTON - Loren Estel Daggett, 87, of Wellington, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Quentin Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Belle Plaine Cemetery.

Friends may call at Frank Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Daggett was born April 9, 1913, in Atlanta, to Maude (White) and George Daggett. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1929 and attended Wichita State University. He received a bachelor's degree from East Texas State University in 1952 and a master's degree from the same institution in 1956. Both degrees were in sociology.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

On Oct. 27, 1935, he married Veda Irene Troutman in Wichita. She died Jan. 12, 1999.

Daggett retired in 1975 after 36 years with the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice. He served as warden at three federal correctional institutions and two U.S. penitentiaries. He was also a consultant to the U.S. State Department in Brazil.

Daggett was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Phoenix, Consistory, Midian Shrine, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Federal Prison Retirees Association, American Corrections Association, Kansas Correctional Association and American Legion.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Troutman, Belle Plaine, and Vale Troutman, Wichita.

Velma Smith

DERBY - Velma A. Smith, 88, of Derby, former longtime Winfield and Douglass resident, died Jan. 30, 2001.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Douglass United Methodist Church. The Revs. Riet Stonger and Ted Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery. Smith Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Smith was born Aug. 23, 1912, in Protection, to May (Beach) and Warren Teter. On April 24, 1937, she married Virgil R. Smith.

A homemaker, she was a member of Douglass United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Carroll, Council Grove, Beaulah Mowder, Edgewood, Wash., Marilyn Shroyer, Wichita, and Donna Stewart, Udall; two sisters, Maxine Hart, Derby, and Myrna Conrod, Winfield; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Esther Kincheloe

ARKANSAS CITY - Esther Elizabeth Kincheloe, 82, of Arkansas City, died Feb. 1, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Ted Brown and Jesse Kindred will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Kincheloe was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Cowley County, to Bessie (Fell) and Oscar R. Riggs. She attended Cedar Vale and Dexter schools and graduated from Dexter High School in 1936.

On May 2, 1942, she married Paul E. Kincheloe in Newkirk, and they made their home in Arkansas City.

She was the first nurse's aide employed at William Newton Hospital. She also worked for Downing Sheet Metal Co. and at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the laundry department.

Kincheloe was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Kansas Jayhawk Camper Club, an Extension Homemakers Unit and the Old-time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers. She had also been active in Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Kincheloe, Valley Center; four sisters, Helen Johnson, Hackney, Doris Ball, Arkansas City, Lucille Doolittle, Norwich, and Harriet Thompson, Azle, Texas; two brothers, Clyde Riggs, Elm Creek, Neb., and Bob Riggs, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband died in 1976.
