Myrtle Coon
KINGMAN - Myrtle V. Coon, 91, of Kingman, died Feb. 10, 2001, at Kingman Community Hospital.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at Livingston Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Jackson officiated. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. in Memorial Lawn Cemetery
near Arkansas City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheatlands Healthcare Center and Kingman Church of the Nazarene, both in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 453, Kingman, KS 67068.
Coon was born March 13, 1909, in Kinsley, to Minnie Mae (Logan) and John H. McVey.
On April 7, 1930, she married Floyd Coon in Dodge City. He died May 15, 1961.
A longtime Kingman resident, Coon was a homemaker and a member of the Kingman Church of the Nazarene. She had also lived in Pratt and Medicine Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Bettie Defore, Kingman; a brother, Leslie McVey, San Jose, Calif.; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Dorothy, preceded her in death.
Irene Ferguson
CEDAR VALE - Irene Ferguson, 77, of Cedar Vale, died Feb. 9, 2001, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 7 tonight.
Ferguson was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Sedan, to Sofia (Lounsbury) and John Stafford.
On June 26, 1953, she married Cecil Ferguson in Nowata, Okla. He preceded her in death.
A resident of the Cedar Vale area for the past 47 years, she was a cook at several places and director of housekeeping at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, David Ferguson, Cedar Vale, and Donnie Ferguson, Knob Noster, Mo.; and a stepson, Norlan Ferguson, McPherson.
A son, Danny Ray Ferguson, and a stepson, Bob Ferguson, preceded her in death.
Benny Gray
Services for Benny Paul Gray were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 10, 2001, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Gerald Graber officiated. Burial was in Maple City Cemetery.
Ruth Caskey was the organist. Bob Winn sang "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."
Honorary casket bearers were Alvin Cummings, Bob Jamison and Ray Schooling. Casket bearers were Gray's nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.
Steve Broadie
WICHITA - Wendell E. "Steve" Broadie, 87, of Wichita and Venice, Fla., died Feb. 7, 2001, in Venice.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Military services will be at noon in Oxford Cemetery. DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
The family will received visitors from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Broadie was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Kinsley. He retired from Investors Diversified Services after 50 years with 30 of those years in management, and wintered in Venice for 20 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Broadie was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita and Christ United Methodist Church in Venice, Wichita Downtown Lions Club, Wichita Tennis Club and Investors Diversified Service Summit Club in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Broadie, Wichita and Venice, formerly of Winfield; a son, John Broadie, Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Joan Feldmeier, Eliot, Maine, Jane Wilson, Sodus, Mich., Mary Morgan, Houston, and Dr. Eileen Broadie, international; a sister, Wanda Alexander, Los Gatos, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Adron Shockey
Services for Adron B. Shockey were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 12, 2001, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Rick Thornton officiated.
Special music included "Go Rest High on That Mountain," sung by Vince Gill, and "Amazing Grace," sung by Anne Murray.
Burial was in Oxford Cemetery. American Legion Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544, both of Winfield, performed military honors.
Casket bearers were Delbert Graham, Ben Harris, Tom King, Bud Long, Don Schwantes and Boyd Smith.
Memorials have been established with the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society.
Mark Williams
Services for Mark Allen Williams were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 12, 2001, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Dennis King officiated.
Burial was in Littleton Cemetery
at Mulvane. American Legion Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544, both of Winfield, performed military honors.
Music selections included the theme from "Star Trek"; "Fly," performed by Celine Dion, and "10,000 Miles," performed by Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Honorary casket bearers were Derek Brown, Jack Rylant, Brad Wedman and Austin, Chad and Tyler Williams.
Casket bearers were Norman Johnson, Bryson and James Looney, James and Robert Wallingford and Elmer Wolfe.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
David Hutchins
David R. Hutchins, 38, of Burden, died Feb. 8, 2001.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 2:15 the day of the service.
Hutchins was born May 14, 1962, in Biddeford, Maine, to Victoria A. (Jordan) and Peter E. Mycue. He was raised in Maine.
On Dec. 24, 1999, he married Gail Maher in Phoenix, and they made their home in Burden.
He was owner and operator of David Hutchins & Sons Painting.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Hutchins, and three sons, John, Jeff and Taylin Hutchins, all of Burden; his parents, Peter and Victoria Mycue, Massachusetts; and two brothers, Robert Hutchins, Pennsylvania, and Todd Hutchins, South Portland, Maine.
Barbara Stiles
INDEPENDENCE - Barbara Ann Stiles, 59, of Independence, died Feb. 11, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was at 2 p.m. Feb. 14 in Elk Falls Cemetery
under the direction of Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.
Stiles was born June 6, 1941, in Wichita, to Ruth and David Camp.
She had worked in heath care in hospitals and nursing homes. Before entering the hospital, she lived with her daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Hargrove, Independence; two stepsons, Jim Duncan, Cedar Vale, and Wayne Duncan, Hutchinson; a brother, David Camp, Wichita; and seven grandchildren.
Irene Ferguson
CEDAR VALE - Services for Irene Ferguson were held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13, 2001, at Wheeler Funeral Home in Cedar Vale. The Rev. Sheila Ratzlaff officiated. Burial was in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Honorary casket bearers were Ralph Bonnell and W.F. Meisch. Casket bearers were Ronnie McCann, Ed McClure, John Copple, Rick Filtingberger, Kenneth McCann and Kenny Moore.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.
Alfred Brown
CAMBRIDGE - Services for Alfred Brown Jr. were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 13, 2001, in Cambridge Cemetery. The Rev. Sheila Ratzlaff officiated.
Music included "How Great Thou Art," performed by Diane Skaggs, and "The Lord's Prayer," performed by Janelle Ledgerwood.
Military honors were conducted by American Legion Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544.
Casket bearers were Chuck Brookshire, Bob, Darry, David and Dustin Brown, Bill Ledgerwood Jr. and Allan and Brett Sims.
Memorials have been established with the industrial arts programs at Oxford and Dexter high schools.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
