Cynthia Pepin

Services for Cynthia Louise (Scarth) Pepin were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 24, 2001, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Ken Davidson officiated. Inurnment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.

Recorded music played included "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin and "Angel" and "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.

A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.

Dorothy Greever

Services for Dorothy Greever were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 26, 2001, in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Marilyn Buffum was the organist, and Jennifer Greever was the violinist. Music was the "Meditation" from "Thais," by Jules Massenet.

Family members served as casket bearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Peg Young

HUNTER, Okla. - Services for Zelma "Peg" Young were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 23, 2001, in the First Baptist Church in Hunter. Dr. Calvin Miller and Pastor Orville Milam officiated.

Burial was in White Cemetery at Hunter. Family members served as casket bearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Missionary Union-Vision Fund, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, AL 35242.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kasey Kasenberg

OXFORD - Oscar Allan "Kasey" Kasenberg, 83, of Oxford, died Feb. 25, 2001, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Enterprise Cemetery at Benton. Pastor Wayne Handle will officiate.

Friends may call at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday.

A memorial has been established with the Oxford United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Kasenberg was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Benton, to Lena (Miller) and Joseph H. Kasenberg. He graduated from Benton High School in 1937.

He began working for Cessna in 1938 and later worked for Stearman and Boeing.

On Jan. 11, 1942, he married June Pearce in Winfield.

From June 1942 to January 1946 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

After Kasenberg was discharged, he and his wife moved to Oxford, and he returned to Boeing. He later became a telephone repairman and a custodian at Oxford High School.

In 1957 the family moved to Littleton, Colo., where he worked for a few years at Martin Marietta until becoming an engineer at Stapleton Airport in Denver. He retired in 1980, and the couple returned to Oxford.

Kasenberg was a member of the the United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge, all of Oxford.

Survivors include his wife, June Kasenberg, Oxford; one daughter, Deitra White, Denver; and one granddaughter.

Larry Crowell

LONGTON - Larry Ralph Crowell, 59, was found dead Feb. 19, 2001, in Longton, after his whereabouts were unknown for several weeks.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Community Church. Pastor David Sanchez will officiate. Private burial will be in Longton Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Christian Community Church. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

Crowell was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Howard, to Ralph Vernon "Shorty" and Elizabeth Cathrine "Bethrine" (Oliver) Crowell. He attended Union Valley Rural School and graduated from Longton High School in 1959. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy.

In the early 1960s, he married Helen Dickens. The marriage later ended.

Crowell lived and worked in Oregon, Washington and California for 20 years before returning to Longton in 1985. In recent years, he was employed as a laborer and farm worker and also worked in construction and manufacturing.

Survivors include his daughters, Tonya Smith, Portland, Ore., and Tina Harris, Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Vera Jontra, Howard, and Jeanie Dershem, Nash, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Ted Bohrer

ATLANTA - H.T. "Ted" Bohrer, 56, of Atlanta, died Feb. 28, 2001.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Atlanta Community Building. Broadway Mortuary of Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Bohrer was a modification mechanic for Boeing.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the Kansas Motorbike Association, ABATE of Kansas and Latham Lodge 401 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica "Sis" Bohrer, Atlanta; six daughters, Kay Richmond and Sunita Gallegos, both of El Dorado, Terisa Bohrer, Derby, and Kaye Wilson, Julie McClendon and Dena Botone, all of Wichita; a sister, Marcy Rowell, Goldona, La.; two brothers, Michael Bohrer, Derby, and Marvin Bohrer, Meeker, Okla.; and 14 grandchildren.

Louise Chall

BERNALILLO, N.M. - Louise L. Chall, 74, of Bernalillo, died Feb. 17, 2001, in Winfield after an extended illness.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Feb. 22 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Vista Verde Funeral Home of Rio Rancho, N.M., was in charge of arrangements.

Chall was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Chall, Bernalillo; a daughter, Connie Vick, Winfield; three sons, Frank Chavez and George Chavez, both of Bernalillo, and Louie Chavez, Elgin, Okla.; two sisters, Margaret Susie Valenzuela, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gloria Garduno, Westminster, Colo.; two brothers, Alex "Red" Loomis, Albuquerque, and Ernest Loomis, Santa Fe; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Woodrow Nicholas

PLAINVILLE - Woodrow "Woody" Kenneth Nicholas, 86, of Plainville, died March 1, 2001 at the Plainville Rural Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, Plainville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Plainville Funeral Home, 320 Southwest Second, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Plainville City Cemetery.

He was born May 16, 1914, in Cowley County, the son of Thomas and Ona Campbell Nicholas. He married Melba Johnson on July 30, 1937, in Cedar Vale.

He attended Centennial School and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1932. He was an employee of Mobil Pipeline Company for 30 years.

Nicholas was a member of the First Christian Church and served as a deacon. He was also a member of Paradise Lodge No. 290, Plainville.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Tom; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike; four brothers, Vern, Reece, William and Thomas; and three sisters, Myrtle, Zella and Audrey.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church or the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

John Ellis

MANVEL, Texas - John Wesley Ellis, 61, of Manvel, died March 3, 2001, at his home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Burial will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.

Ellis was born May 5, 1939, in Allensville, Ky., to Ida and John Ellis. He graduated from Moline High School.

A boilermaker for 20 years, he was an insurance agent for the past 19 years.

Ellis was a member of the Kiwanis Club, president of W.W. Trailriders Club, an FFA sponsor and a fund-raiser for Shriners/crippled children.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Vera Ellis, Manvel; a daughter, Kristin Ellis Rieves; a sister, Frances Henderson; three brothers, Jack, Doug and Bob Ellis; and two grandchildren.

Elanora Youle

Elanora L. Youle, 91, of Good Samaritan Village, Winfield, died March 4, 2001, at Good Samaritan.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church.

Youle was born Jan. 27, 1910, in Winfield, to Anna (Sloan) and Ralph Stuber. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1928 and later from Southwestern College.

Before marrying, she taught school in Bentley.

Her husband, John Youle, died July 25, 1951.

After her husband's death, Youle worked as a dietitian at William Newton Hospital and later at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. She retired in 1972.

Youle was a member of the Winfield Soroptimist Club and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky Camp, Winfield; a brother, Joe Stuber, Wichita; a sister, Sarah Young, Topeka; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A son, Mike Youle, and a daughter, Jane Cornforth, preceded her in death.
