Winifred LeSuer

CARROLLTON, Texas - Winifred "Dob" LeSuer, 77, of Carrollton, died Nov. 24, 2001, in Plano, Texas.

No services are scheduled. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.

LeSuer was born May 24, 1924, in Cambridge, to Lucille (Ryan) and Howard Lundy and spent her childhood years there.

In 1955 she married Earl LeSuer. He died in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacque Borden, Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Cleta Crawford, Moreland, Okla., and Norma Staton, Carrollton, Texas; and a brother, Barney Lundy, Cambridge.

Darlene Bruner

MOLINE - Darlene Winifred Bruner, 77, longtime resident of Moline, died Dec. 8, 2001, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Services were at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Moline United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Parsons officiated. Burial was in Moline Cemetery.

Wanda Mills was the organist. The West Elk High School Chorus sang "Away in a Manger" and "Ave Maria."

Casket bearers were Virgil Carter, John Clark, Jim Dixon, Harold McCreight, Kenneth Walker and Steve Walker.

Memorials have been established with the Moline United Methodist Church and Hospice Inc. of Wichita.

Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard was in charge of arrangements.

Bruner was born Jan. 12, 1924, at Busby, to Winifred (Sprague) and Harold Van Buskirk. She attended school at Busby before graduating from Longton High School.

Bruner earned a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg and returned to Elk County to teach in rural schools near Moline and later in Moline.

On Dec. 24, 1943, she married Frank Leroy Bruner in Moline. She continued to teach in Moline. At Peabody College in Tennessee she qualified as a consultant in visual and auditory learning programs for the handicapped. Following this training, she served as a consultant teacher for the perceptually handicapped in Butler County schools.

She completed her bachelor's degree at Southwestern College in 1965. Ill health caused her to retire, but she continued to be an active member of the Moline community. In recent years the Bruners had lived at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.

Bruner was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teachers sorority, the Kansas State Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She was a longtime member of the Moline United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Bruner, Winfield; three sons, Rod Bruner and Alan Bruner, both of Moline, and Perry Bruner, Ponca City; two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Naomi Shively

Naomi Ruth Shively, 75, of Winfield, died Dec. 12, 2001, at William Newton Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Burden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas or the person may choose a child's name from any angel tree located in Winfield. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Shively was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Garden Plain, to Rozella (Vance) and Earl Jowers. She was raised in the Garden Plain and Cheney area.

In May 1950 she married George Shively in Burden. They made their home in Burden until 1956 when they moved to Winfield.

A homemaker, she also ran the Mode-O-Day Store in Winfield in the late 1960s and in the early 1970s was a cook in the Winfield schools cafeteria.

Her husband died April 1, 1995. A son, Steven Shively, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Kickapoo Camping Club.

Survivors include a son, Larry Shively, Winfield; a daughter, Naoma Reed, Oxford; a brother, Francis Jowers, Wichita; five grandchildren and and six great-grandchildren.

Wayne Lister

PONCA CITY - Wesley Wayne Lister, 74, of Ponca City, died Dec. 8, 2001, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Services were at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 in Resthaven Memorial Park. The Rev. Leon Grider officiated. Arkansas City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1254 provided military honors, and American Legion Post 14 had a flag-folding presentation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4323 N.W. 63rd St., Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK 73116-1513.

Grace Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Lister was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Enid, Okla., to Deloris (Steele) and Henry Lister. The family moved to Montana and then to Caldwell where he graduated from high school.

In 1945, Lister enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes, Ill., and served on the USS Briscoe and the USS LCI. He received the Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon before being honorably discharged as a seaman first class in 1946.

When he returned to Caldwell, Lister began working as a troubleshooter at General Electric at Strother Field.

On May 6, 1988, he married Edith Tewell of Arkansas City, and they moved to Ponca City. In 1995 they moved to Kentucky but had returned to Ponca City to be near family two days before he died.

Lister was a member of American Legion Post 14 and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Lister, Ponca City; two daughters, Theresa Grantham, Ponca City, and Christy Lister, Oklahoma City; two sons, Michael Rhodes, Arkansas City, and Dean Rhodes Jr., Nashville; three brothers, James Lister, Glendale, Ariz., William Lister, Atchison, and Donald Lister, address not given; two sisters, Helen Parker, Clearwater, and Shirley Huff, Topeka; and seven grandchildren.

Ricky Mark

UDALL - Ricky R. Mark, 53, of Udall, Air National Guard senior master sergeant, died Dec. 11, 2001.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wichita. Downing & Lahey Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established with the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 642, Derby, KS 67037, and the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-9865.

Mark was born Sept. 16, 1948, in Wichita, to Winifred B. (Pocock) and Earl A. Mark.

Survivors include a son, Gary Mark, Glencoe, Ala.; three daughters, Amy Mark-Herman, Wellington, and Tammy Mark and Peggy Mark, both of Belle Plaine; his parents, Earl and Winifred Mark, and a brother, Randy Mark, all of Valley Center; a sister, Judy Mischke, Ringsted, Iowa; and one grandchild.

Mae Walker

Services for Mae Walker were held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12, 2001, in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Dr. James McIntosh officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

June Vasey was the organist. Music included "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace."

Casket bearers were Ralph Hanna, Roger Enix, Brad Ross and Robert Hamm.

Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church and the Winfield Rest Haven Activity Fund.

Angela Biddle

LINCOLN - Angela Marie Biddle, 28, of Lincoln, formerly of Winfield, died Dec. 13, 2001, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Salina.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established as an education trust fund for her children. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Biddle was born June 5, 1973, in Winfield, to Debbie (Defore) and Mike Biddle. She attended Winfield schools and received her general equivalency degree through Cowley County Community College in June 1991. She was employed locally at Dillons for a number of years.

Biddle had resided in Lincoln since 1995. Most recently she was employed with Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Ellsworth and with the Ellsworth County Health Department. She was also a student in the nursing department at Barton County Community College in Great Bend.

Survivors include her daughter, Kailey Marie Gordon, her son, Jonathan Scott Biddle, and her companion, Jeff Ahring, all of Lincoln; her mother and stepfather, Debbie and Arlan Bauer, and her father and stepmother, Mike and Jana Biddle, all of Wichita; three sisters, Lynndy Biddle, Clay Center, Krista Biddle, Wichita, and Dallas Bauer, Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Scott Biddle, Atlanta, and Ryan Biddle, Wichita; and her grandparents, Mary and Raymond Biddle, Winfield, and Myrna and May Merz, Arkansas City.

Velda Harp

WICHITA - Velda E. Harp, 93, of Wichita, died Dec. 13, 2001, at her home.

Services were held at 10 a.m. today at Hillside Funeral Home East Chapel. Pastor Peggy Triplett officiated. The Rev. Vern Wilkinson officiated at the burial in Greenlawn Cemetery at Grenola.

Vern and Grace Wilkinson and Lowell Harp sang "Peace in the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were Harp's great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Trinity United Methodist Church, 411 S. Martinson, Wichita, KS 67213.

Harp was born Jan. 5, 1908, in Chautauqua County, to Emma B. (McClure) and Charles Wesley Morris. She was raised and educated in the Cloverdale area.

In 1926 she married Frank Harp who died in 1930. They had one daughter.

In 1935 she married James Harp, and the family moved to Wichita. He died in 1956.

Harp worked as a quality control inspector at Boeing for 25 years before retiring in 1965.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Women's Association of Railroad Lodge, the Chat & Dine Club at Marion Lake and an extension homemaker unit.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorretta Knox, Wichita; two stepdaughters, Audra Schiffer, Denver, and Cindy Cameron, Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Faye William, Fredonia, and Ellen "Ella" Jering, Gooding, Idaho; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Robert Lehman

Robert Lehman, 76, of Winfield, died Dec. 15, 2001, at his home.

Cremation has been effected. Burial will be in the Nardin, Okla., Cemetery, west of Blackwell. The family will announce a memorial service later. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Lehman was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Blackwell, to Mary Eldora (Sharples) and Ruben Edwin Lehman. He was raised in Deer Creek, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1943. In high school he was an outstanding basketball player.

He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During the Korean War, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a short time before being honorably discharged.

Survivors include a brother, James Lehman, Deer Creek, Okla.; and three sisters, Arleen Pierce, Winfield, Clairnelle DeFremery, San Leandro, Calif., and Frances McConnell, Bartlesville.
