Wanda Fox-Bingham

VALPARAISO, Ind. - Wanda Carol Fox-Bingham, 49, of Valparaiso, formerly of Winfield, died Dec. 15, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital, Carmel, Ind.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe, Valparaiso. The Rev. Paul Champion will officiate. Burial will be in Angelcrest Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association.

Fox-Bingham was born April 16, 1952, in Winfield, to Sally (Hughes) and Maurice Asbury.

On Aug. 13, 1995, she married Lawrence R. Bingham.

Fox-Bingham was a library clerk at Ivy Tech State College in Valparaiso and a member of the Chicago Herpetology Society.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Bingham, Valparaiso; her mother, Sally Milligan; three sons, Carl Fox, Texas, Richard E. Fox, Wisconsin, and Stephen J. Fox, Valparaiso; two stepchildren, Shiela Bingham and Beau Bingham; two brothers, Robert Asbury, Florida, and John Asbury, Minnesota; a sister, Karen Bruce, Valparaiso; and six grandchildren.

Neola Kennedy

WICHITA - Neola Gwendolyn Kennedy, 76, homemaker, of Wichita, died Dec. 18, 2001.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Evangel Assembly of God.

The family will receive friends at Resthaven Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Evangel Assembly of God Church, 1620 W. 21st St. North, Wichita, KS 67203.

A daughter, Sheila Sue Holt, preceded her mother in death.

Survivors include Kennedy's husband, Paul Kennedy, Wichita; a son, David Mark Kennedy, Haysville; a daughter, Linda Diane Miller, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Ted Hufman, Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Jerri Lewis, Wichita; and six granddaughters.

Wilbur Frazier

ANTHONY - Wilbur Dean Frazier, 78, of Anthony, died Dec. 21, 2001, at Anthony Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Burchfiel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the mortuary from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials have been established with the United Methodist Church and the Christian Church of Manchester, Okla.

Frazier was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Anthony, to Estella M. (Burchfiel) and Samuel Henry Frazier.

He married Laura Hort in 1967.

A retired machine operator with the railroad, Frazier attended the Manchester, Okla., United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Frazier, Anthony, and a brother, Richard Frazier, Winfield.

Dorthy Marrs

HOWARD - Dorthy Leon Marrs, 89, of Howard, died Dec. 22, 2001, at Howard Twilight Manor.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Howard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kibum Kim will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Howard United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left at Zimmerman Funeral Home.

Marrs was born Jan. 7, 1912, on her parents' farm west of Howard, to Martha (Kill) and Frank Blizard. She grew to womanhood in the Howard area and graduated from Howard High School in 1930.

On Oct. 31, 1942, she married Robert Lee Marrs in Texas. She made a home for her family on their Elk County farm for most of her life. From 1930 to 1935 she was employed as a receptionist in the Howard office of Dr. Depew. She also worked for Boston's Drug store, Winn's Cafe', the Ben Franklin store, Howard Twilight Manor and Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. Her husband died July 6, 1995.

She was a lifelong member of the Howard United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

Leah Weaver

Leah Hope Weaver, 79, a resident of the Kansas Veterans Home at Winfield, died Dec. 23, 2001, at William Newton Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in Cottonwood Falls at a later date.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michelle Ann Allen

Marie Jean Allen

ARKANSAS CITY - Michelle Ann and Marie Jean Allen, infant daughters of Kim and Mike Allen of Arkansas City, died Dec. 22, 2001, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Riverview Cemetery. Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors in addition to their parents are three sisters, Brandi, Candi and Angela Allen, all of Arkansas City; two brothers, Isaiah Allen, Arkansas City, and Michael McKinnis, Derby; and their grandparents, Raymond E. and Patricia J. McKinnis, Winfield, and Johnnie Talison, Wichita.

Louise McElroy

CHAUTAUQUA - Louise McElroy, 85, of the Cloverdale and Chautauqua area, died Dec. 23, 2001, at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Graves Memorial Chapel, Caney. Walter Darnell and Earl Tresner will preside. Burial will be in Chautauqua Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight and from 8 a.m. to service time Thursday.

A memorial has been established with the Chautauqua Senior Citizens Center.

McElroy was born July 25, 1916, in Hector, Ark., to Adah (Taylor) and L.D. Parton. She grew up in Caddo County, Okla., and received a degree from Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences in 1952.

On Jan. 9, 1936, she married Oscar Lee McElroy in Chickasha. He died in 1975. A son, Charles Russell McElroy, also preceded her in death.

Later in life she married Norval Baker, a rancher at Cloverdale. He, too, preceded her in death.

McElroy taught for 35 years in schools in Cedar Creek, Peru and Sedan. She was a charter member of the Chautauqua County Art Association and had held memberships in the Kansas Authors Club, Chautauqua County Historical Society and National Pen Women.

She served a number of terms as Belleville Township treasurer and worked on the election board. She later served many terms as clerk of the Caneyville Community Board of Cloverdale. She wrote a weekly Cloverdale column which appeared in several area papers.

McElroy attended Jonesburg Community Church and in later years was a member of the Cedar Vale Baptist Church where she served two terms as a trustee and one term as a deaconess.

Survivors include a son, Rocky McElroy, Corpus Christi, Texas; four daughters, Ramona Pierce, Dewey, Okla., Chiquita Lafon, Wann, Okla., Nona Black, Jay, Okla., and Twila Lister, Sedan; a brother, John Parton; five sisters, Lucille Doan, Jewell Hyatt, Ruth Bifulco, Mary Shillinglaw and Nell Ryan; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Glen Burris

ARKANSAS CITY - Jesse Glen Burris, 85, of Arkansas City, died Dec. 24, 2001, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hawks Memorial Chapel. AVisitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established with the First Presbyterian Church. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Burris was born March 3, 1916, at Great Bend, to Emory Blaine and Katie (Brocher) Burris. He graduated from Great Bend High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On May 9, 1947, he married Joyce Neely in Great Bend.

Burris worked in oil fields at Great Bend and Wichita. The family moved to Arkansas City in 1969, and he worked for the City of Arkansas City until retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Burris, Arkansas City; a son, Michael Burris, Baxter Springs; a sister, Doris Amerine, Great Bend; and three grandchildren.

A daughter, Michele Hestand, preceded him in death.

Carrol Rochat

Carrol Joan Rochat, 65, of Winfield, died Dec. 25, 2001, at Cumbernauld Village.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Friday. The family will receive callers from 6 to 7.

A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Rochat was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Overland Park, to Dorothy (Marsh) and Cleon Binyon. When she was a teenager, the family moved to Wichita where she worked as a waitress.

In 1963 she married Lindsay D. Rochat in Wichita. They moved to Udall in 1971 and later divorced.

During the late 1970s she owned and managed Carrol's Country Kitchen. In 1979 she moved to Winfield where she worked as a cook at Good Samaritan Village. She later worked at Mel's Cafe and in the food service department at Southwestern College. She was also employed as a dietary supervisor at William Newton Hospital.

Following a stroke, Rochat resided at Good Samaritan for over 14 years before moving to Cumbernauld Village.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Steve Binyon and David Binyon, both of California, and James Rochat and Philip Rochat, both of Winfield; a daughter, Rachel Rochat, Winfield; a brother, John Binyon, Missouri; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
