Hermine Lindsay
NORTONVILLE – Services for Hermine F. Lindsay were held at 1 p.m. June 18, 2002, in Nortonville City Cemetery. Pastor Joseph Hansen officiated.
Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church, Winfield, and the Sidwell Charitable Trust, Box 354, Winfield, KS 67156.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
John Henderson
WICHITA – John Phillip Henderson, 50, of Wichita, died June 17, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at College Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Collins will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Hillside Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67210, and Trinity Hospice, 1938 N. Woodlawn, S-214, Wichita, KS 67208.
Henderson was born Sept. 9, 1951, in Winfield, to Neva (Stuber) and Ralph F. Henderson. He attended area schools and graduated from Central High School in Burden.
A resident of Wichita for 33 years, Henderson was a singer and played bass guitar. He was also a computer expert.
He was a member of College Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his partner, Brad Reha, Wichita; two brothers, Jacob “Sonny” Henderson and Ralph Henderson, both of Winfield; and two sisters, Connie Andes, Winfield, and Sarah Martin, Udall.
Eulalia O'dell
LEROY – Eulalia O'dell, 92, of LeRoy, died June 19, 2002.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Logue Cemetery, east of LeRoy.
Friends may call at Mattingly-Van Arsdale Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The family will greet visitors from 6:30 to 7:30.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of LeRoy.
O'dell was born Aug. 2, 1909, east of Burlington, to Minnie (Wilson) and William Ballew. She attended Oak Grove School and graduated from Burlington High School in 1927. After attending college in Emporia, she taught school for several years.
On June 15, 1941, she married Carl O'dell in LeRoy. He preceded her in death.
O'dell was a member of the LeRoy Christian Church where she was a pianist for 59 years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Research Club and Friends of the Library.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Mattingly, Winfield, and Karla Rodgers, Emporia; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Karen Jordan
TULSA – Karen Jolene Jordan, 63, of Tulsa, formerly of Arkansas City, died June 17, 2002, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City. The Rev. Craig Sweeney will officiate. Reynolds Funeral Home of Tulsa performed the cremation.
Contributions may be made to the Karen Jordan Memorial Fund, 2423 N. Covington, Wichita, KS 67205.
Jordan was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Arkansas City, to Wilma W. and Joe A. McIntire. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1956 and from Cowley County Junior College School of Cosmetology in 1978. She later earned her instructor's license.
In 1957 she married Lonnie W. Glen Jr. He preceded her in death.
In 1963 she married Darrell “Ed” Jordan. They later divorced.
A member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Arkansas City, she had lived in Tulsa since 1990.
Two sons, Zachary Max Jordan and Rickie Joel Glen, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie W. Glen III, Wichita; three daughters, Jodi, Darci and Traci Jordan, all of Tulsa; her mother, Wilma McIntire, Topeka; a brother, Ron McIntire, Blue Springs, Mo., a sister, Melinda Abitz, Topeka; and six grandchildren.
Kenneth Childs
ARKANSAS CITY – Kenneth E. Childs Jr., 67, of Arkansas City, died June 18, 2002, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Rev. Lance Carrithers will officiate. Cremation has been effected.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Childs was born Jan. 29, 1935, in Hutchinson, to Stella (Spires) and Kenneth Childs. The family moved to Arkansas City in 1941. Childs graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1952 and continued his education at Cowley County Community College.
He was a longtime manager of Montgomery Elevator Co.
Survivors include his brother, Stanley Childs, Wichita, and a sister, Wanda Joyce Dowell, Mesa, Ariz.
Ralph Beightol
ARVADA, Colo. – Ralph Beightol, 92, of Arvada, formerly of the Atlanta area, died June 6, 2002, in Arvada.
Services were held June 11 in Faith Bible Chapel. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Olinger Wadsworth Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to bring Jewish people out of Russia. Contributions may be made to Faith Bible Chapel, 12189 West 64th, Arvada, CO 80004.
Beightol was born Sept. 3, 1909, in Ottawa, to Bertha Keith and Roy Beightol. As a young man he worked in dairies and farmed in the Atlanta area.
When he and his family moved to Westminster, Colo., he became a driver for Pacific Intermountain Express.
His wife, Ruth Lantis Beightol, died in 1991.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores Whiteman, Winfield, and Lorraine White Krueger and Betty Miller, both of Arvada; a son, Ronald Beightol, Rowland Heights, Calif.; a sister, Maxine Newton, Grove, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Hermine Lindsay
Hermine F. Lindsay, 72, of Winfield, died June 14, 2002, at Winfield Resthaven.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Nortonville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5.

Lindsay was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Nortonville, to Fern (Fletcher) and Herman Lindsay. She was raised and educated in Nortonville.
For seven years she worked for Kansas Industries for the Blind in Topeka.
In 1947 she moved to Winfield where she worked for area mental health organizations. She was a Red Cross volunteer for 29 years and volunteered at the First United Methodist Church where she was a member.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Bilderback, Atchison; two nephews, two grand-nieces and three grand-nephews.
Lena Freek
NEWKIRK – Lena Dorothy Hansz Freek, 87, longtime resident of Newkirk, died June 12, 2002, in the Newkirk Nursing Center.
Services will be 1 p.m. today in Newkirk Cemetery. Pastor Danny W. Cornish will officiate.
Friends may call at Miller-Stahl Funeral Service from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today.
A memorial fund has been established with the Peckham Christian Church. Contributions may be made through Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk, OK 74647-0468.
Freek was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Peckham, Okla., to Anna (Bokker) and John Reints. She attended Peckham Elementary School and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1933.
In May 1937 she and Charles Howard Hansz married in Enid, Okla.
In the early 1940s Freek lived in Blackwell and worked in the glass plant and later at Kroger's and the Kress Store. She also was a relief telephone operator for the Peckham Telephone Co.
On July 29, 1951, she and Marion Freek married in Enid. They made their home in Newkirk where she helped him operate the L&M Cafe´ for several years. He died July 7, 1971.
After breaking her hip for a second time in 1991, she entered a nursing home in Ponca City and later in Tonkawa. In 1995 she moved to the Newkirk Nursing Center. She was active in the resident activities and had served as chairperson of thehe residents' council. She was also selected as resident of the month. In the late 1990s she was a representative of the Newkirk Nursing Center entered in the senior citizens' spelling contest in Enid.
Freeks was a member of the Newkirk Church of Christ, the Rebecca Lodge and the Newkirk Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was a volunteer for the Newkirk Nutrition Center and received an award for her services in the 1970s. She served as a vote counter in her precinct for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta J. Hansz, Ponca City; two stepdaughters, Emma Landers, Newkirk, and Bertha McCall, St. Joseph, Mo.; two stepsons, Raymond Freek, New Mexico, and Larry Freek, Newkirk; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mary Marshall
Services for Mary Irene Marshall were held at 10 a.m. June 14 at Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. K.B. Murray officiated.
Special music included “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers were Mark Fleenor, Ray Fleenor and Ed Gray.
Memorials have been established with the Millington Street Baptist Church and the American Diabetes Association.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Robert Spencer
Services for Robert Leon Spencer were held at 10:30 a.m. June 14 at Blessing Heights Church of God in Arkansas City. Pastor Timothy Smith officiated. Burial was in Parker Cemetery.
Lynn Merritt was the vocalist. Rhnea Smith was the pianist. Music was “In the Garden,” “I'll Fly Away” and Oh I Want to See Him.”
Honorary casket bearers were Spencer's grandsons.
Casket bearers were Don Scott, Kevin Pike, Ed White, Bob Brumback, Rod Smith and Wayne Ammerman.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Heights Church of God and the American Diabetes Association.
Hawks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
