Molly Lindsey

OXFORD – Ruby Madelyn “Molly” Lindsey, 85, of Oxford, died Oct. 10, 2002, at Riverview Manor.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.

A memorial has been established with the Legacy Foundation in Winfield. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Lindsey was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Holton, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones. She was raised and educated in Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri.

On Oct. 2, 1935, she married Byron W. Lindsey in Mountain Grove, Mo. In the late 1960s they moved to Durango, Colo., where they ran a cafe. In the early '70s, they moved to California where she ran a Winchell's Donut Shop.

Following her husband's death on April 8, 1977, Lindsey moved to Florida. In the late 1980s she moved to Winfield where she resided at Walnut Towers. In 1991 she moved to Oxford where she resided at Riverview Manor.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita.

A son, Byron “Gene” Lindsey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Lindsey Williams, Winfield; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Kourt

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Charles Richard “Dick” Kourt, 70, retired Phillips Petroleum Co. analyst, died Oct. 9, 2002, at Heritage Villa Nursing Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. today in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. today. The Rev. Ashley Green-Young will officiate.

Memorials have been established with the East Cross United Methodist Church, 820 SE Madison Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74005-2405.

Kourt was born July 23, 1932, in Dalhart, Texas, to Mary Aleene (Anderson) and A.B. Kourt. He was raised and educated in Phillips, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1948. He attended Texas Tech College in Lubbock, Texas.

Kourt was employed with Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1951 in the Borger, Texas, area. In 1955 he transferred to Bartlesville where he worked with the natural gas department of Phillips Petroleum as a contract analyst. He worked there until retiring in 1988.

On Nov. 25, 1972, he married Doris E. (Halverstadt) Wilson in Bartlesville.

Kourt was a member of the East Cross United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Kourt, Bartlesville; seven children, Evelyn Brandon, Norman, Okla., Barbara Bowers, Piedmont, Okla.; Karla Kulbeck, Midlothian, Va.; Dale R. Wilson and Deena Kirchman, both of Bartlesville, David D. Wilson, Haltom City, Texas, and Debra Unruh, Oklahoma City; his mother, Mary Aleene Kourt, and a brother, Randall Kourt, both of Thomas, Okla.; a sister, Carol Creacy, Livingston, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

Claudie Irvin

ARKANSAS CITY – Claudie Irvin, 70, of Arkansas City, died Oct. 10, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wichita.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark McCarville will officiate. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Irvin was born July 3, 1932, in Carnegie, Okla., to Nettie Roena (Guffe) and Charles D. Irvin. He attended school in Lake Valley, Okla.

A U.S. Army veteran, Irvin served during the Korean War.

He was a retired welder and farmer and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Irvin, Arkansas City; seven children, Beverly McKenna, Memphis, Tenn., Donna Lachina, Oxford, Carey Irvin, Shirley Goulden, Karen Phillips and Jeffery Irvin, all of Arkansas City, and Susie Conner, Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Mary Ruth Jolley, Chickasha, Okla.,; a brother, Marion Irvin, Hobart, Okla.; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frances Folck

Services for H. Frances Folck were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 12, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jerold Hooley officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

June Vasey was the organist, and Martin Rude was the vocalist.

Casket bearers were Byron Jones, Larry Whitney, Willard Bodkins, Paul Wesley, Steve McSpadden and Jim Snyder.

A memorial has been established with the First Presbyterian Church.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paula Wilson

Paula S. Wilson, 48, of Winfield, died Oct. 11, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Services were at 2 p.m. today in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Wilson was born Dec. 25, 1953, in Alney, to Mamie (Adams) and Dewitt J. Hungerford. When she was seven, the family moved to Winfield where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Winfield High School.

On June 2, 1982, she married Delbert S. Wilson in Winfield.

Wilson worked at Winfield State Hospital & Training Center as a licensed mental health technician. She then attended classes to become a licensed practical nurse at Cowley County Community College and was employed by Creative Community Living Inc. in Winfield.

Wilson was a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include her husband, Delbert Scott Wilson, a son, Benjamin Wilson, and a brother, Leroy Hungerford, all of Winfield.

Vera Pack

Vera Elizabeth (Harris) Pack, 82, formerly of Winfield, died July 23, 2002, while visiting her daughter and other family members in Washington, D.C.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dexter Christian Church. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.

Pack was born near Dexter on Dec. 9, 1919. She grew up in Dexter and Cambridge and lived for many years in Winfield and Kansas City, Mo. In recent years she had lived with a son in San Francisco.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Molly Lindsey

WICHITA – Services for Ruby Madelyn “Molly” Lindsey were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 14, 2002, in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Pastor Frances J. Rathbun officiated.

Music included “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “Softly and Tenderly.”

Honorary casket bearers were Conrad and Bobby Dove, John, Michael and Timothy Lindsey and Lindsey Williams.

A memorial has been established with the Legacy Foundation in Winfield.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia Foote

MOLINE – Sylvia Helena Foot, 92, longtime resident of Moline, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Grace Lawn Cemetery at Howard. Pastor Ted Smith will officiate.

Memorials have been established with the Moline United Methodist Church and the Moline Public Library. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

Foote was born Aug. 18, 1910, at Busby, to Amanda Helena (Jensen) and Peter J. Froyck. She attended school in Busby and graduated from Longton High School in 1928.

On Aug. 22, 1931, she married Hugh Meredith Foote in Howard. They lived in the Busby neighborhood, then in Longton and Sedan before moving to Moline in the late 1930s. They later moved to Fredonia and returned to Moline in 1967. Her husband died May 14, 1972.

A homemaker, Foote was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was a member of Ladonia Chapter 243 Order of Eastern Star in Elk Falls and the Moline United Methodist Church. She attended Moline Music and Literary Club meetings and served on the board of the Moline Public Library for several years.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Brewster, Independence, and Myrna Hale, Augusta; a sister, Helga Patterson, Howard; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Paula Wilson

Services for Paula S. Wilson were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 14, 2002, at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. President James of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Larry Bliss gave the opening prayer, and Paul Craig gave the benediction. Susan Craig was the speaker.

Musicians included June Vasey, organist; Sam Crain, soloist; and Sonna Walker and Jackie Nichols, duet. Scott Wilson and Ben Wilson were readers.

Casket bearers were Elmer Wolfe, Dave Reynolds, Robert Atkinson, Larry Bliss, Albert Michael, Paul Craig, Jose Vigil and Tony Hadlock.

Donna Burleson

ARKANSAS CITY – Donna Kay Burleson, 42, of Arkansas City, died Oct. 14, 2002, at her residence.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

A fund has been established to assist the family with funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Burleson was born April 22, 1960, in Arkansas City, to Martha Ruth (Estle) and Bill Rairdon. She was raised and educated in Perryton, Texas. Donna was currently employed as a certified nurse's aide at Medicalodge North Post Acute Care Center.

Survivors include her son, Brandon, Winfield; two brothers, Jim Rairdon, Amarillo, Texas, and Steven Rairdon, Dewitt, Iowa; and one sister, Kathy Simms, Casper, Wyo.

Cory Burgell

Cory Michael Burgell, 22, of Winfield, died Oct. 8, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City. Deacon Richard Robinson officiated. Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mothers Against Driving Drunk, 8 Summit Circle, Stillwater, OK 74075.

Burgell was born Sept. 19, 1980, in Ponca City, to Mary A. Burgell and Reid Johnson. He attended schools in Wichita. While still in high school, he began working for Coburn Carpet and had recently opened his own business, All American Flooring.

Survivors include a daughter, Alyssa Kay Burgell, Wichita; his mother, Mary Burgell, his father, Reid Johnson, and a sister, Victoria “Rose” Eslick, all of Ponca City; his stepfather, Brian Eslick, Winfield; and his grandparents, Downing and Carole Johnson, Ponca City, and Jackine Eslick, Winfield.
