Nellie A. Henson
(Sept. 23, 1912 - Feb. 4, 2001)

Nellie A. Henson, 88, Osawatomie, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in Louisburg Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1912, in Osawatomie where she lived most of her life.
She was a member of the Midwest Church of God.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Charley Henson, and three sons, Charles Henson, Donald Henson and Kenneth Henson.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene Brunts of Osawatomie; two sons, Jerry Henson of Sarasota, Fla., and Michael Henson of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday in Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo. Burial was in the Stanton, Kan., Cemetery.

Linda May Wearth
(June 12, 1946 - Feb. 4, 2001)

Linda May Wearth, 54, Paola, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in Miami County Medical Center in Paola.
The daughter of Arthur W. and Emma Clark Wearth, she was born June 12, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo.
Her father and a niece, Lindsey Beth Williams, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her mother, Emma Wearth; a sister, Lois Williams; two nephews; and a niece, all of Leawood.
Services were Wednesday in D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Courtyard of Memories indoor mausoleum. Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
n The family suggests contributions in her name to Medicalodge of Paola, where she made her home, 501 Assembly Lane, Paola, KS 66071.

John Jacob Kautt
(Dec. 9, 1900 - Feb. 1, 2001)

John Jacob Kautt, 100, Centerville, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.
Born Dec. 9, 1900, in Immenhausen, Germany, he was the son of John and Margaret Schaefer Kautt. He and Irma Miller were married June 1, 1935, in Liberty, Mo. She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 1985.
Mr. Kautt was a self-employed farmer. He lived in Kansas City, Mo., for 29 years before moving to the Centerville area in 1955.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Garnett.
Others preceding him in death included two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, John Kautt of Dallas, Texas, and Fred Kautt of Centerville, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday in the Centerville Community Church. Burial was in Centerville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City.

Darline Loretta Mulkey
(July 27, 1914 - Jan. 31, 2001)

Darline Loretta Mulkey, 86, a longtime resident of Blue Mound, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott.
She was born July 27, 1914, near Selma, Kan., a daughter of Nile and Ada Lindenberg Eyman. After graduating from Garnett High School in 1932, she worked in the Bush City Bank in Bush City, Kan.
She and Ansel M. Mulkey were married June 3, 1934, in Blue Mound and they became the parents of two children.
Mrs. Mulkey worked in the Farmers State Bank in Blue Mound from 1946 until December 1982.
She enjoyed serving as pianist and organist in the Federated Church in Blue Mound for many years. She was often asked to play for special occasions. She did her practicing on both her own and the church instrument. Many times one would hear her music coming from her home in Blue Mound where she played for her own enjoyment.
She was caretaker for the three Blue Mound cemeteries, along with her husband, daughter and three grandsons from 1965 until about 1995. Mrs. Mulkey was interested in the Blue Mound Library and often served on the library board. She was a member of Lotus Chapter No. 480 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Blue Mound.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Ansel Mulkey, who died Aug. 9, 1982, and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Kendall Mulkey of Las Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Sandra West of Moran; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday in Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City. Burial was in Sunny Slope Cemetery in Blue Mound.

Edward Hamlin Ricketts
(Jan. 12, 1924 - April 20, 2001)

Edward Hamlin Ricketts, 77, a native of Paola, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in his home in Moon Valley, Ariz., after suffering complications from heart disease.
"Rick," as he was known, was born Jan. 12, 1924, near Paola, the son of Elmer and Bessie Ricketts. He graduated from Paola High School in 1941.
He was a World War II veteran, serving as a radio operator-gunner, and was awarded the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters, among other decorations. He also participated in the Berlin airlift and Korean War as a member of the U.S. Air Force, which he served in various capacities for nearly 25 years.
Mr. Ricketts traveled and lived in many locations before retiring from the Air Force and settling in Kansas City, Mo., to work for Trans World Airlines.
He was active in the Shriners, the Presbyterian Church and the Air Force Association. He continued to be active in general aviation before and after retirement. He especially enjoyed the many friendships that were created and nurtured in the pursuit of his vocation and avocation in Kansas City and Phoenix.
He and his wife of 51 years, Nadia, moved to the Phoenix area in 1986 after he retired from TWA, where he had worked for more than 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Nadia Ricketts; a son, Jack Ricketts of Sunset Hills, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Hirsch of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Thelma Ricketts Woodrum and Betty Ricketts Timberlake, both of Paola; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road in Scottsdale.
Contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or a favorite charity.

Elizabeth Margaret Rocker
(Oct. 2, 1906 - April 17, 2001)

Elizabeth Margaret Rocker, 94, of Garnett, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett.
She was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Anderson County, a daughter of Charlie and Josephine List Wolken. She spent her entire life in Anderson County.
She and Clarence Rocker were married May 18, 1932, in Scipio.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence Rocker, who died May 30, 1960; two sons, Delmar Rocker and Virgil Rocker; a daughter, Lois Rocker; eight brothers, Greg Wolken, Leonard Wolken, Arnold Wolken, Hubert Wolken, Nick Wolken, Martin Wolken, Luke Wolken and Gilbert Wolken; two sisters, Mary Scheckel and Martha Wolken; and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Rocker of Garnett and Vernon Rocker of Ottawa; three daughters, Evelyn Whitmer of Wichita, Edythe Sosby of Claremore, Okla., and Joan Johnson of Mountain View, Ark.; three brothers, Ed Wolken of Jackson, Minn., Dennis Wolken of Wichita and Herman Wolken of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Hilda Wolken of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were Saturday in the church, followed by burial in St. Boniface Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett.
