Stanley A. Chrzanowski

A Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley A. Chrzanowski, 85, Roeland Park, Kan., will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 53rd and Mission Road.

Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Amos Family Funeral Home of Shawnee, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Villa St. Francis Catholic Nursing Home in Olathe, where they had been a great comfort to Mr. Chrzanowski and his family in his final days.

Mr. Chrzanowski died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Villa St. Francis. He was a graduate of Ward High School, Kansas City, Kan., and was a long time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was owner and operator of Stan's Engraving Studio until he retired in 1980.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Chrzanowski, of the home; five children, Carol Chrzanowski, Denver, Colo., Jim Chrzanowski, Roeland Park, Stan Chrzanowski, Overland Park, Kan.; Margie Coon, Prairie Village, Kan., and Phil Chrzanowski, Houston, Texas; one brother, Adam "Ed" Chrzanowski; and seven grandchildren.

Harry J. Hadley

Services for Harry J. Hadley, 83, Kansas City, Kan., were held today at the Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mr. Hadley died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the Medicalodge East. He was born July 14, 1917, in the Muncie area of KCK. He was a postal maintenance man at the U.S. Post Office. He was an Army veteran of WWII.

Surviving are his wife, Katharine Charleston Hadley, of the home; one daughter, Judy Hadley Dangerfield, KCK; one sister, Christine Green, Edwardsville, Kan.; three brothers, John Hadley and Robert Hadley, both of KCK, and Earl Hadley, Kansas City, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Lulu B. Howard

Lulu Belle Lawson-Howard, 53, Kansas City, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Truman Medical Center.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maple Hill Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan.

Ms. Lawson-Howard was born in Chillicothe, Mo., and had lived most of her life in the Kansas City area.

Surviving are three sons, Russell J. Couffer and Micheal Shane Smith, both of KCK, and Amon Wayne Smith, Zinc, Ark.; two daughters, Melockia Lawson, Manhattan, Kan., and Tabatha V. Whatley, Overland Park, Kan.; three brothers, Johnny Lawson and Russell Lawson, both of Harrison, Ark., and Sammy Lawson, Chillicothe; three sisters, Rose Dykes, Parkville, Mo., Martha Lane, Zinc, Ark., and Connie Lucas, KCK; and 11 grandchildren.

Hazel L. Kempster

Services for Hazel L. Kempster, 95, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK.

Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor, 7850 Freeman, KCK 66112.

Mrs. Kempster died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at the Presbyterian Manor. She was born Aug. 16, 1904, in Paris, Mo., raised in Centralia, Mo., and had lived for more than 75 years in KCK. She was employed for 15 years at the Mercantile Bank, retiring in 1965. She was a member of Stony Point Christian Church.

Her husband, Clarence Kempster, preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Allen R. Kempster, Carlyle, Ill.; one daughter, Patricia Rhodes Porter, KCK; two brothers, Roy Gritton, KCK, and Earl Gritton, Centralia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Willie McGough

Graveside services for Willie McGough, 81, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.

Mr. McGough died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at the home. He was born May 13, 1919 in Prescott, Ark. He had been an auto mechanic and was an Army veteran.

Surviving are one daughter, Willie J. Williams; one son, Willie M. McGough, both of KCK; and two grandchildren.

John F. Wilhm Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Retired Col. John F. "Jack" Wilhm Sr., 81, Topeka, Kan., will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Topeka.

Interment with military honors will be conducted at the Fort Riley National Cemetery, Fort Riley, Kan. The family suggests memorials to Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th, Topeka, Kan. 66614.

Col. Wilhm will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 W. Sixth at Taylor, Topeka, after 2 p.m. Wednesday where a Parish Prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Council No. 8411 Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Col. Wilhm died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at a local retirement home. He was born July 12, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., and was reared in Kansas City, Kan. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 8411, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a retired Colonel with the U.S. Army and had received many decorations during his service in the Army during World War II. He worked for the Hays Chamber of Commerce from 1972 until July of 1983. He moved to Topeka from Hays in August, 1983.

His wife of 50 years, Agnes Marie Smith Wilhm, died in 1993.

Surviving are two sons, John F. Wilhm Jr., Sarasota, Fla., and James M. Wilhm, Bentonville, Ark.; twin daughters, Janet S. Burgardt, Great Bend, Kan., and Judith A. Slimm, Overland Park, Kan.; three brothers, William Wilhm, Bonner Springs, Kan., Jerry Wilhm, Stillwater, Okla., and Joe Wilhm, Mountain Home, Ark.; and eight grandchildren.

Mary L. Aldridge

Services for Mary Lavern Aldridge, 81, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota, KCK.

Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aldridge died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Bethany Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1919, in Billstown, Ark., and had been a resident of KCK most of her life.

One brother, Dallas Kennedy, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Ralph "Joe" Aldridge, of the home; two daughters, Gloria Donohue, Olathe, Kan., and Susan Julian, of the home; two sisters, Estelle Wolfe, KCK, and Pauline Buck, Climax Springs, Mo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Eleanor Wolfe Howell Baldwin

Funeral services for Eleanor Wolfe Howell Baldwin, 93, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Northeast Vivion Road, Kansas City North, Mo.

Burial will be at Purdy Cemetery, Purdy, Mo. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Mrs. Howell Baldwin was born Jan. 28, 1907 in Sigorney, Iowa. She was a graduate of Missouri Nursing College and worked as a nursing instructor and as a private duty nurse for 56 years. She was also nursing supervisor for a senior care facility.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekka Lodge and the Lyric Opera Association. She was active in numerous service organizations including the Lexington Senior Citizens Group. She distributed Meals on Wheel for more than 20 years. She was an expert fly-fisher.

Her first husband, Leonard Howell, died in 1974; her second husband, Ben Baldwin, died in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Celia Orr.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Hill, KCK; a step-daughter, Sylvia Herndon, Apple Valley, Calif; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Judith A. Bruns

Services for Judith Ann Bruns, 64, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Maple Hill Funeral Home.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.

Mrs. Bruns died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Braymer, Mo. She was the bookkeeper for Bruns Pharmacy. She was a former member of the Friends of the Philharmonic.

Her parents, Roscoe and Katie Heavner, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Tom Bruns, of the home; one son, Joseph Heavner Bruns, KCK; one step-son, Patrick Bruns; two step-daughters, Cynthia Mense and Colleen Bruns; two brothers, James Heavner, Cameron, Mo., and Bruce Heavner, Liberty, Mo.; one sister, Mary J. Martin, Liberty, Mo.; and two step-grandchildren.

Mary A. Campbell

Services for Mary Ann Campbell, 55, Paola, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Simmons Funeral Home, 1404 S. 37th St., Kansas City, Kan.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1945, in KCK. She owned and operated the Caps and Jackets for 17 years and did monogramming for five years. She operated the Campbell's Market on Highway 7 and 83rd Street for 15 years. She was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School.

One brother, Gary Buckley, died in 1989.

Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Campbell, of the home; two sons, Richard D. Campbell, Wellsville, Kan., and Daniel R. Campbell, Paola; three sisters, Beverly Schlagel, Arizona, Frances Marple, Shawnee, Kan., and Diane Ramsey, Lawson, Mo.; four brothers, Bud Buckley, KCK, John Buckley, Le Loup, Kan., Lester Buckley, Denver, Colo., and Steve Buckley, California.; and seven grandchildren.

Ann A. Crockett

Graveside services for Ann Arnette Crockett, 77, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, KCK.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK. The family suggests memorials to the University United Methodist Church, 3148 Parallel Parkway, KCK 66104.

Mrs. Crockett died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000. She was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Caney, Kan., and had lived in KCK 60 years before moving to Phoenix in 1994. She was a member of the University United Methodist Church and the Optimisses.

Her husband, Davy Crockett, died in 1982.

Surviving are her daughter, Ginger R. Sigler, Overland Park, Kan.; and one granddaughter.

Janie S. Finney

Services for Janie S. Finney, 53, Kansas City, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 N.E. 72nd St., Kansas City, Mo. 64118.

Burial will be in the Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, K. C., Mo. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the church.

Mrs. Finney died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the home. She was born March 15, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan. She was an active member of the Antioch Bible Baptist Church.

Her father, John A. Longfellow, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Bill Finney, of the home; three daughters, Melissa Jones and Robin Webb, both of K. C., Mo., and Allison Finney, of the home; her mother, Thelma Longfellow, KCK; and one brother, Johnnie L. Longfellow, Overland Park, Kan.

Maynerd Gardner

Services for Maynerd Gardner, 92, DeSoto, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cedar Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 32665 Lexington Ave., DeSoto.

Burial will be in the DeSoto Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Abbot Hall Museum, P.O. Box 112, DeSoto, Kan. 66018.

Mr. Gardner died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at the Eudora Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 6, 1908, in DeSoto, and was a lifelong resident.

His wife, Inez Gardner; one son, Paul Gardner; and his twin brother, Bernerd Gardner, all preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Delbert Gardner, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Judith Weese, DeSoto, and Barbra Ott, Eudora, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
