Ella M. Menaugh

Services for Ella May Menaugh, 79, Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK.

Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to The Cancer Institute of Health Midwest.

Mrs. Menaugh died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born May 11, 1921, in KCK. She worked in the Health and Wealth Dept. of the Boilermaker National Union for 14 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW No. 5851 and a volunteer at Bethany Medical Center for 10 years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church for 77 years.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, John "Skeets" Menaugh, of the home; three sons, Dave Menaugh, Conroe, Texas, John Menaugh, Crescent City, Calif., and Steve Menaugh, Lawrence; and six grandchildren.

Ada J. Moore

Memorial services for Ada Jeanette Martley Moore, 57, Lebanon, Mo., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Grace and Glory Tabernacle, Lebanon.

The family suggests memorials to the Ivey Cemetery, c/o 325 Harrison, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.

Mrs. Moore died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at St. Johns Hospital, Springfield, Mo. She was born Jan. 7, 1944, in KCK, and had lived most of her life in the Lebanon area. She was well-known in Lebanon for the Hall Moore Stuff Antiques and was an active member of the Route 66 Org. She was an avid button collector and very interested in genealogy.

Her parents, Robert and Emma Martley; and one brother, Lloyd Lee Martley, all preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Moore, of the home; two daughters, Jeanette Schmeltz, Kansas City, Mo., and Judy Butler, Baldwin City, Kan.; one son, Timothy Moore; Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one brother, Donnie Marley, Lebanon; four sisters, Peggy Stilts, Advance, Mo., Etta Bell, KCK, Connie Porter and Wanda Martley, both of Lebanon; a number of nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren.

Leonard S. Peters

Services for Leonard S. Peters, 75, Concordia, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wesleyan Church, Concordia.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice.

Mr. Peters died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at the home. He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in KCK, the sons of John William Peters and Lucy Lee Weakly Peters. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church, V.F.W., American Legion and the Moose Lodge, all of Concordia. He had worked as a fireman at Station No. 1, KCK Fire Dept., 1945-1954; then was a police officer at the Westwood Police Dept., Los Angeles, Calif., 1954-1969. In 1969 he worked as an Ironworker with the Mo-Kan Ironworkers Local No. 10 at Kansas City, until his retirement in 1981.

His parents, two brothers, John W. Peters II and Charles K. Peters; and two sisters, Alice H. Walden and Elizabeth Cavlovich, all preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy M. Decker Peters, of the home; one son, Jeffery Peters, KCK; three daughters, Dianna Heldenbrand, Susan Juiliano and Carrie Pruitt, all of Concordia; one brother, Robert L. Peters, KCK; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Edward M. Blecha

Services were held today for Edward Milton Blecha, 77, Kansas City, Kan., at the Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway, KCK.

Burial was in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 94th and State, KCK.

Mr. Blecha died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at the Providence Medical Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Letcher, S.D. He owned and operated Eddie's Custom Cabinets in KCK for more than 30 years. He had been a home builder in Sabetha, Kan., before moving to KCK. He served in the Army during World War II and participated in several major campaigns. He was awarded two bronze stars, the purple heart, and the presidential unit citation. He was an active member of the VFW and had been unit commander in Sabetha.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Muriel Blecha, of the home; three daughters, Sonja Blecha Cotitta, Olathe, Kan., Gloria Blecha Shomin, KCK, and Jennifer Blecha Hardesty, Gladstone, Mo.; one brother, Arthur Blecha, Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Danny R. Brown

Memorial services for Danny R. Brown, 59, Olathe, Kan., will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church of Stanley, 14895 Antioch, Overland Park, Kan.

The family suggests memorials to the Danny R. Brown Music Fund, c/o Presbyterian Church of Stanley. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd and Blackbob Road, Olathe, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the home. He was born Nov. 6, 1940, in Mansfield, Mo., living in Olathe for the past 16 years having lived in the Kansas City area most of his life.

One brother, Joe Brown, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Brown, of the home; two sons, Stephen Brown, Overland Park, Kan., and David Brown, Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Suzanne Gordon, Meriden, Kan., and Cynthia Crowder, Olathe; two sisters, Peggy Dennis, Mansfield, Mo., and Shirley Golding, Springfield, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Peter A. Purduski

A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter A. Purduski, 74, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 44 N. Mill St., KCK.

Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Skradski Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 6 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the church or the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Purduski died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the home. He was born in KCK, and was a lifelong resident. He worked for General Motors Corp.-Fairfax for more than 42 years, retiring in July of 1990. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and the United Auto Workers Union, Local No. 31.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Anne Marie Purduski, of the home; one son, Stephen M. Purduski, Naperville, Ill.; one daughter, Susan A. Leu, Wauseon, Ohio; one brother, Al Purduski, KCK; three sisters, Elizabeth Thomas and Tillie Bailey, both of KCK, and Alberta Radencic, Lee's Summit, Mo.; and one grandson.

Donald L. Rinehart

Services for Donald L. Rinehart, 65, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Charter Funerals/Kansas Chapel, 10250 W. 63rd St., Merriam, Kan.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to KC Hospice.

Mr. Rinehart died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000. He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo. He was an Air Force veteran. He worked for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Rinehart, of the home; five daughters, Dolores Rinehart, Vicki Rinehart, Sandra Ghale, Traci Carr and Tanya Swift, all of KCK; two brothers, Jack Rinehart, Whiteland, Ind., and Charles Rinehart, KCK; two sisters, Mary Torrence and Wanda Foy, both of KCK; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Frances L. Suberkropp

Graveside services for Frances L. Suberkropp, 82, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Highland Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, 2900 Minnesota Ave., KCK 66102.

Mrs. Suberkropp died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at the Presbyterian Manor. She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Wells, Kan., and had lived most of her life in KCK. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Suberkropp; and two sons, John Suberkropp Jr., and Jim Suberkropp.

Vernon W. Voorhees II

Memorial services for Vernon W. Voorhees II, 57, Fairway, Kan., will be at noon Wednesday at the Village Presbyterian Church, 67th and Mission, Prairie Village, Kan.

The family will receive friends following the services in Friendship Hall at the church. The family suggests memorials to CORO of Kansas City, P.O. Box 32976, Kansas City, Mo. 64171, or the Sigma Chi Education Foundation, c/o Tom Johnston, 2311 W. 69th Terrace, Shawnee Mission, Kan. 66208. The Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Voorhees died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000. He was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., and was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. An attendee of the University of Kansas, he earned both his bachelor's degree in business administration and his juris doctorate. He was admitted to both the Kansas and Missouri Bars. He was senior vice president of corporate services and secretary of Business Men's Assurance and a member of its board of directors. An Eagle Scout, he served as a board member of the Heart of America Council of Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Heart of America United Way and was on its Chairman's Club Committee, a member of the Kansas City Area Development Council and served on its Financial Services Committee, was a board member of the Metropolitan Community Colleges Foundation, and a member of the Village Presbyterian Church. He spent many years of service to CORO of Kansas City and served on its National Board, and was chairman of the Sigma Chi House Corp. for seven years.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Jane Voorhees, of the home; two daughters, Katherine Ann Voorhees, Jackson, Wyo., and Sarah Elizabeth Voorhees, San Jose, Calif.; his mother, Betty Gayle Voorhees; two sisters, Gayle Stuber and Linda Snodgrass; and one grandson.

Mary K. Dihel

Mary K. Dihel, 81, Kansas City, Kan., passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2003, at KU Medical Center. Graveside services and burial were private at Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation.

Mrs. Dihel was born in KCK and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker, a Catholic and a member of the VFW-Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard G. Dihel Sr., and one sister, Stephanie.

She is survived by two children, Linda Mader, Tewksbury, Ma., and Len Dihel, Lenexa, Kan.; three brothers, John Rozell, William Rozell, both of KCK, and Joseph Rozell, Blue Springs, Mo.; one grandson, Christopher Mader; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Mader and Brooke Mader, all of Vernon, Conn.

Ada M. Huey

Ada M. Huey, 76, Kansas City, Kan., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Providence Medical Center. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. June 16 at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Kansas Chapel. Burial in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

He was born Feb. 7, 1927, in KCK.

Anna Sue Skorupan

Anna Sue Skorupan, 57, died June 10, 2003. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 16 at Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Johnson County Nursing Center, 11875 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe, KS 66061.

Anna Sue was born in KCK on April 7, 1946. She was preceded in death by her mother Minnie Sue Smith and father Frank Delich.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan Skorupan and Eric Skorupan; one granddaughter; one aunt, Anna June Bury; and her stepmother Dorene Celich.

Robert W. "Bud" Zink

Robert W. "Bud" Zink, 74, Kansas City, Kan., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 16 at the Joseph A. Butler and Son Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Zink was born in Helmick, Kan.

Survivors include his wife Alberta; one son, Robert Michael Zink, two daughters, Ginger Gordon and Melissa Zink; and one sister, Vada Alspaw.

Anna M. Taylor

Anna M. Taylor, 91, of Kansas City, Kan., died Aug. 3, 2003, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at the Meyers Family Funeral Home, where visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Taylor in 1987; two daughters, Elva Jean Theesfeld and Phyllis Joanne Lacy. She is survived by six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Theodore J. Harris

Theodore James Harris, 97, of Kansas City, Kan., passed away Aug. 1, 2003. Funeral services will be held Aug. 9, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church of The Jesus Hour. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Family requests donations to the church.

Theodore was born Sept. 1, 1905, in Kansas City, Kan. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Harris and Donald Harris of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Nyra Harris Gray of Seattle, Wa.; Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand children.

Madeline Florence Hines

Madeline "Tudie" Florence Hines, 84, of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Aug. 5, 2003, at the Carriage Square Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Madeline lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hines in1993. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sarah Hines of St. Joseph, Mo.; two granddaughters, Tracy Sharp and Sherri Baskett; one great-grand-daughter, McKenna Baskett; one sister, Marjorie Stockinger; two nieces, Joyce Vetter and Sue Krysa.

Mayor C. Wynne

Mayor C. Wynne, 84, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, Kan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. Friends may call 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Joseph A. Butler Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Wynne was a lifelong resident of KCK. He was a switchman with the Union Pacific Railroad and operated Wynne Brothers Construction with his brothers.

He leaves his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Wynne; three sons, Robert "Skip" Wynne, Mike Wynne and Mark Wynne; three daughters, Carolyn Sommerfeld, Debbie Konopasek and Penny Berrey; two brothers, Joe and Frank Wynne; two sisters, Mary Lou Kehoe and Anne Wohlrab.

RoseAnn Eastbrook

RoseAnn (Mickey) Abernathy Eastbrook,54, Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Kansas Cty, Kan., passed away Aug. 2, 2003. Memorial service at a later date.

Ms. Easterbrook was born March 21, 1948, in Kansas City, Kan. She was a life-long resident of Kansas City, Kan., before moving to Florida.

She is survived by one son, Hames Robert Easterbrook of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Dr. Robert Abernathy and Fred Abernathy, and many nieces and nephews.
