Amy E. Gunter

Graveside services for Amy E. Gunter, 90, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton Memory Gardens, Clinton, Mo.

Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK. The family suggests memorials to the Grandview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gunter died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born Oct. 19, 1910, in Clinton, Mo., where she lived until moving to KCK in 1978. She had been a licensed practical nurse for 24 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church, KCK, and a former member of Good Hope Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Her husband, Roy Gunter, died in 1976.

Surviving are one son, Marion Gunter, Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lee E. Hopkins Jr.

Services for Lee E. "Jiggs" Hopkins, Jr., 82, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church, 2635 Cleveland, Kansas City, Mo.

Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery, KCK. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Highland Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hopkins died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the home. He was born June 2, 1919, in the Armourdale area of KCK. He attended the KCK public schools and graduated from Sumner High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Leona Hopkins; three sisters; one niece; and two nephews.

Surviving are his wife, Jossie Hopkins, of the home; six nieces; six nephews; and 63 great-nieces and nephews.

Richard E. Moore

Services for Richard Earl Moore, 66, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Maple Hill Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Bethany Medical Center. He was a lifelong KCK resident. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a welder for TWA for 31 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the IAM No. 1650 and was a past president of the Metropolitan Sports Association.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes Moore, of the home; three sons, Kenneth Moore, KCK, Michael Moore, Hillsdale, Kan., and Edward Moore, Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Tina Thornton, Basehor, Kan.; two brothers, Bill Moore, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Charles Moore, Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Louise Pearson, Wanda Hamilton and Lorna Lawson, all of KCK; and six granddaughters.

Arvin Osborne

Memorial services for Arvin "Stan" Osborne, 71, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hillside Christian Church, 900 N.E. Vivion Road, Kansas City, Mo.

The Northland Funeral Home, 1209 Swift Ave., North Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the Outreach Christian Daycare Center, K. C., Mo., o/o the funeral home.

Mr. Osborne died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Providence Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1930 in Mansfield, Ill. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

His parents, Hollie and Grace Riggleman Osborne; one brother, Lyle Osborne; and one granddaughter, Regina Ann Biddle, all preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Osborne, of the home; two sons, Kevin Osborne, North Kansas City, and Nathan S. Osborne, Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Dex Anna McCollum, Frankfort, Ind.; four brothers, Clyde Osborne, KCK, Paul Osborne, Greenwood, Ind., Clifford Osborne, Columbus, Ind., and Larry Osborne, Austin, Minn; nine sisters, Kate Knope, Mansfield, Ill., Opal Walker, Franklin, Ind., Betty Freeman, Shelbyville, Ind., Dorothy Abney, Columbus, Ind., Eleanor Obos, Gurnee, Ill., Helen Dimos, Oxford, Calif., Carolyn Taylor, Speedway, Ind., Audry Goudy, Ellington, Fla., and Louise Shearin, Morgantown, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Virginia P. Peek

Services for Virginia Pauline Peek, 79, St. Marys, Ohio, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Butler-Fulton-Nickel Funeral Home, 22 S. 18th St., KCK.

Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peek died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 24, 1921, in Lexington, Mo. She lived in KCK before moving to Ohio. She was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Marion Edwin Peek, and one daughter, Marion Elizabeth Warner, both preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Francis Peek, Troy, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Juanita Brashears

Juanita Brashears, 88, Kansas City, Kan., died Dec. 22, 2003, at KU Med Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the Second Baptist Church. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the church. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Brashears, KCK.

She was born April 10, 1915, in DeSoto, Kan.

Elveeta Stone Bumpus

Elveeta Stone Bumpus, 83, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at the Life Care Center of Kansas City. Cremation. Private inurnment in Highland Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Bumpus was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963, two brothers and one sister.

Joe George

Joe George, 81, Lansing, Kan., died Dec. 24, 2003, at Kindred Hospital. Services will be 8:30 a.m. Jan. 2 at the Roswell Church of Christ. Visitation will be 7 a.m. on Jan. 2 at the church. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

He was born May 12, 1922.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth George, Kansas City, Kan.; seven sons, Joe Norman George, Emanuel L. George and Michael A. George, all of KCK, Milton D. George, Kansas City, Mo., Kevin R. George, Larned, Kan., Geoffrey L. George, Blue Springs, Mo.; three daughters, Nancy D. George, Sheila K. George and Tina A. George, all of KCK; one brother, Carl L. George, Detroit, Mich.; and two sisters, Ardelia Middleton, Los Angeles, and Equator Cummings, Twin Groves, Ark.

Dora Lee Jones

Dora Lee Jones, 73, Kansas City, Kan., died Dec. 23, 2003, at the Manor House of Kansas City. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at New Hope M.B.C. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Zachary, La.

Survivors include three sons, Royal C. Davis, Arlington, Texas, Johnny Lee Davis, Yates Center, Kan., and Calvin G. Davis, Kansas City, Kan.; and one daughter, Debbie S. Davis, Fort Worth, Kan.

Elinor Adams Norris

Elinor Adams Norris, 87, Butler, Mo., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., passed away Dec. 30, 2003, at the Bates County Memorial Hospital, Butler, Mo. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. at the cemetery.

Elinor was born Dec. 5, 1916, in KCMO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Norris on Oct. 15, 1993.

She is survived by her trustee, Rolan and Janet Gorham, Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests contributions to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation or a charity of choice.

Robert J. (Bob) Rank

Robert J. (Bob) Rank, 74, Kansas City, Kan., died Dec. 30, 2003, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 34th Street and Shawnee Drive, with private inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Hospice of Kansas City or Cancer Action.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; one son, Robert II; four daughters, Linda, Kathy Ward, Ann and Pauline; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley; and many family and friends.

Corey Leon Simmons

Corey Leon Simmons, 30, Kansas City, Kan., died Dec. 24, 2003. Services will be 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the L.A. Jones and Sons Linwood Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Cremation. Friends may call 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.

Mr. John Robert "Jr." Schuck Marine Specialist

Mr. John Robert "JR" Schuck, McCormick, S.C., 65, passed away, Saturday, December 27 after fighting a brave battle with kidney cancer.

Born in Kansas City, Kan., on Sept. 27, 1938, Mr. Schuck lived in South Central Florida , Atlanta, Ga., and Horseshoe Bend Country Club, Roswell, Ga., before relocating to Savannah Lakes Village in 1994. He retired in 2000 after 40 years as Marine Specialist for Cooks Composites & Polymers.

An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing, as well as golfing, and had accomplished five holes in one. He was a member of the SLV Men's Golf Association and Emerald Seniors. His wonderful but somewhat irreverent sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, from the Lutheran Church By The Lake, McCormick.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Patti Schuck; two sons, Scott Schuck and David Neverton; five daughters and sons-in-law Donna and John Gilbert, Pamela and William Polk, Karen Schuck, Jennifer and Mark Thorn, and Amy Williams; two brothers, Gene William (Butch) Schuck and Max Schuck; one sister, Patty Schuck; his mother Leola Schuck; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Schuck was preceded in death by his father Herman Schuck.

Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Church By the Lake, McCormick, SC. 29835, the National Kidney Cancer Association or the McCormick Humane Society, P.O. Box 900, McCormick, SC.

Kathleen Yarc

Kathleen Yarc, 35, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at KU Med Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Skradski Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Holy Family church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Yarc in 1999.

She is survived by her mother, Helen M. Yarc; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ramona and Robert Conway, Monica and Sam Danner, Marcia and Randy Franklin and Annette and Jay Denton; one brother, Kenneth John Yarc; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald C. Brown

Ronald C. Brown, 53, Kansas City, Kan., passed away Dec. 28, 2003, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. The family requests contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or to the City Union Mission.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia A. Brown, of the home; one daughter, Sara Elizabeth Brown, KCK; three brothers, David Brown, Walnut Creek, Calif., James Beszhak, East Wenatchee, Wash., and Richard Beszhak, Kirkland, Wash.; one sister, Susan Ward, East Wenatchee, Wash.

Helen L. Bryant

Helen L. Bryant, 81, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church. Inurnment in Miller Cemetery, Denver, Mo. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Highland Park Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the National Stroke Foundation.

Mrs. Bryant was born in KCK.

She is survived by three sons, John C. Barber, Brush, Colo., Mike W. Newhouse, Kearney, Mo., and Wilbur E. Barber Jr., Clarksville, Tenn.; five daughters, Frances Perez, Mary K. Ryan and Effie M. Barber, all of KCK, and Sharon Taylor, Bluefield, W.V., and Margarita A. Rhodes, Sumas, Wash.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Brian Lee Dennis

Brian Lee Dennis, 38, Kansas City, Kan., died Dec. 26, 2003.

He was born Sept. 21, 1965, in Layette, La. Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Thatcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation.
