Willard Henry

Willard Henry, 73, Kansas City, Kan., died May 13, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the Mrs. J.W. Jones Chapel. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the chapel. Cremation.

He was born Oct. 3, 1931, in KCK.

Survivors include two brothers, James Henry and Eugene Henry, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Walter E. Hodges

Walter E. Hodges, 86, Olathe, Kan., died May 17, 2004, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Olathe, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Friday. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Walter was a U.S. Navy veteran who was discharged in 1945. He moved to Kansas City, Kan., where he owned and operated Hodges Plumbing for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou; three sons, Glenn Hodges, Gene Hodges and Jim Cordill; three daughters, Ellen Gregg, Cindy Pastor, Toni Birk; one brother, Delmer Hodges; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gene E. Moreland

Gene E. Moreland, 87, Shawnee, Kan., died May 16,, 2004, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, at the Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Immanuel Baptist Church.

Gene was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Elsey, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, his children and grandchildren.

Robert Eldon Shields Sr.

Robert Eldon Shields Sr., 73, Hermitage, Mo., died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, Mo. funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home, Hermitage. Visitation was 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions sent to Alzheimer's research.

He was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Parsons, Kan.

Survivors include his wife, Lela Faye Shields, of the home; two sons, Jerry Shields and Steven Shields, both of Hermitage; one daughter, Linda Brandt, Springfield; one brother, Charles Shields Jr., Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Marrow, Statham, Ga., and June White, Council Bluffs, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Carol Jean Wyatt Deppeler

Carol Jean Wyatt Deppeler, 77, Kansas City, Kan., died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action Inc., 1831 Minnesota Ave., KCK 66102, or to the Kansas City Hospice, 1625 W. 92nd St., Kansas City, MO 64114-9756.

Jack Sykes Jr.

Jack Sykes Jr., 51, Kansas City, Kan., died May 13, 2004, at St. John's Regional Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at St. Andrews Baptist Church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to service time.

Orla H. "Bud" Reynolds

Orla H. "Bud" Reynolds, 73, Edwardsville, died May 19, 2004, at his home. Cremation. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. May 22 at the family home. Memorials may be sent to Kansas City Hospice.

Bud was born May 6, 1931, in Blue Lick, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Reynolds; and five children, Carol Preston, KCK, Alan Reynolds, McClouth, Kan., Nancy Reynolds, Bruce Reynolds and Keith Reynolds, all of Edwardsville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Silvestre C. Bustamante Sr.

Silvestre C. Bustamante Sr., 69, of Kansas City, Kan., died away May 20, 2004, at St Lukes Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, at Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway, followed by burial in Mt Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 Sunday at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City, Mo., where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Silvestre was born Dec. 31, 1934, in KCK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gavino Bustamante and Guadalupe Contreras Bustamante,and his brother, Jesus.

Survivors include his former wife, Lodie Bustamante, KCMO; three sons, Sylvester, Independence, Mo., Michael, Olathe, Kan., and John, California; one daughter, Stephanie Folkers; longtime friend, Rita Rojas, KCK; five brothers, Martin, Jesse, Frank, Joe and Manuel; two sisters Virginia Padilla and Mercy Sanchez; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Joseph Hunter Jr.

Joseph Hunter Jr., 74, Kansas City, Kan., died May 20, 2004, at the home. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. May 29, at the Macedonia M.B.C. Visitation will be 8 a.m. on May 29 at the church. Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in McGee, Ark.

Survivors include two brothers, J.C. Hunter and John Hunter, both of KCK; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Virginia W. Pittman

Virginia W. Pittman, 92, Garnett, Kan., died May 20, 2004, at Golden Heights, Garnett. Services will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at 121 W. First St., Garnett. Memorials may be sent to Baker University English Department of the Garnett United Methodist Church.

She was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Topeka, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Pittman, and one daughter, Jane Uhlig Shelton.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Palmer, Yacolt, Wash.; and one sister, Margaret E. Washburn, Garnett; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mason Thomas

Mason Thomas, 73, Kansas City, Kan., died May 17, 2004, at the Life Care Center of Kansas City. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Trinity AME Church. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. May 22, at the church. Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Thomas, KCK; one son, Robert Norris, Houston; six step-sons, Gary Elias, Maurice Elias and Mike Elias, all of Coffeyville, Kan., Ronald Eliasa n Merv Elias, both of Independence, Kan., one daughter, Donna NOrris, Houston; two step-daughters, Claudia Roach, Wichita, Kan., and Marilyn Goodson, Independence; two brothers, Cleo Thomas, Kansas City, Mo., and David Thomas, KCK; one sister, Mary Ann Hayes, Compti, La.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Martha E. Yost

Martha E. Yost, 65, Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Highland Park Funeral Home. Friends may call 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Yost was preceded in death by one daughter, Candie Yost, in 1986.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Yost, of the home; one son, Carl, KCK; four sisters, Anna Lee Grove, Blackwell, Texas, Ellen Jerome, Ash Grove, Mo., Carol Harold, Wichita, Kan., Shirley Baker, Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dorothy "Helene" Booth

Dorothy "Helene" Booth, 91, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at her daughter's home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Porter Funeral Home. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Park Baptist Church, 207 S. 14th St., KCK 66102, or Kansas City Hospice, 1625 W. 92nd St., Kansas City, MO 64114-9756.

Helene was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Bates City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy "Jack" Booth, in 1977, and one grandson, Stephen Booth, this year.

Survivors include two children, Jacquelene N. Shultz, Olathe, Kan., and Larry L. Booth, Colby, Kan.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Dennis Kent Dulaney

Dennis Kent Dulaney, 46, of Edwardsville, passed away May 30, 2004, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Catholic Charities Hospice.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy L. Dulaney, of the home; his parents Loretta and Jerry Dulaney, Overland Park, Kan.; two sons, Lester Burger and Gary Corp, both of KCK; one brother, Michael Dulaney, Overland Park; one sister, Kim Knight, KCK; five grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Famous Jones Sr.

Famous Jones R., 92, Kansas City, Mo., died May 24, 2004, at the Alpine North Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. June 4 at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Chapel. Visitation will be 9 a.m. June 4 at the chapel. Burial at 1:30 p.m. in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Famous was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Holly Springs, Miss.

Survivors include three sons, Maurice Jones, Ronald Jones and Louis Jones, all of KCK; two daughters, Rosetta Jones and Charlene Jones, both of KCK; two sisters; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Lynn A. Ring

Lynn A. Ring, 53, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Menorah Medical Center. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Meyers Family Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be at 6 p.m. The family requests no flowers, but would appreciate memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 1316 Parkade Blvd., Columbia, MO 65203, or the American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212-1461.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara Ring, of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Ring, two sons, Scott Ring and wife Lisa, and Chad Ring and wife Nina; three grandchildren, Shelby Ring, Kyle Singelton and Cody Singelton; one brother, Bruce A. Ring and wife Debra.

Margaret (Kennedy) Wilson

Margaret (Kennedy) Wilson, 85, Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, May 31, 2004, at the Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Sisters, Servants of Mary.

Mrs. Wilson was born in KCK and was a lifelong area resident. She was a retail clerk for Katz, Skaggs and Osco retails stores in KCK. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, J.R. Russell, KCK; two daughters, Patricia Quinlan, Overland Park and Betty Ann O'Grady, both of KCK; two brothers, Vincent Kennedy, KCK, and Robert Kennedy, Olathe, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, Maggie Lightle, David Hook, Cindy Jones, Breck Carl, Brandy Quinlan, Corby Jones, Steve Burke, Dan Burke, Shannon Dunn and Megan Russell; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Patsy M. Bell

Patsy M. Bell, 69, Kansas City, Kan., died July 29, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Aug. 5, at the Eighth Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Aug. 5 at the church. Burial in Highland Park. Arrangements by LA. Jones & Sons.

She was born April 1, 1935, in West Point, Miss.

Survivors include four brothers, Bill Bell Jr., KCK, David Bell, West Point, Jammie L. Bell, Stuttgart, Ark., and Jessie Bell, Bowling Brook, Ill.; two sisters, Early Danner, KCK, and Isabell Crumble, Maben, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Eric M. Farley

Eric M. Farley, 52, Kansas City, Kan., died July 29, 2004, at KU Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Thatcher's Mortuary, 1520 N. Fifth St. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Thatcher's Funeral Home.
