Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. April 22 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown, Mo.

Mason was born July 25, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by parents Claude and Hazel Mason, and son Bradford Mason.
He is survived by son David Mason II, Raytown; daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Russell Blackman, Raytown; brother Gary Mason, Urbana, Ill.; grandchildren Andrea, Victoria and Matthew Blackman; and four nieces and nephews.

Snora L. Richardson, 89, of Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, April 17, 2006, at KU Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Waverly Ave., KCK.

Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Elder Ervin Sims, Sr.
Elder Ervin Sims, Sr., 86, of Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Medicalodge North.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, at Mt. Carmel Church of God In Christ, 2025 N. 12th, KCK.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery.

John W. Walters
John W. Walters, age 55 of Edwardsville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2006. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012. A celebration of life reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Edwardsville City Park, where John had volunteered. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department, “John W. Walters Memorial Fund,” in care of the funeral home. He was a lifelong Wyandotte County resident and had attended Argentine and Bonner Springs High Schools graduating in 1969. Survivors include his children Tammy M. Burgoon and husband Nate of Edwardsville, John Walters Jr. of Kansas City, KS., Charles “Chuck” Walters, and Shawn M. Walters of Edwardsville, on brother James F. Walters and wife JoAnn of Bonner Springs, and one sister Barbara M. Baker of Edwardsville.

Mrs. Ardelia Clark, 92, of Kansas City, Kan., died April 16, 2006, at Providence Medical Center.

Velsie Elaine Jordan-Lewis
Velsie Elaine Jordan-Lewis, 65, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of KCK, died April 15, 2006, at Kenneston Hospital in Georgia.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 21, at 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cartersville, Ga.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Mission Community Cemetery in Cartersville, Ga.

Jack L. Kuhn
Jack L. Kuhn, 60, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, Kan. Born Aug. 18, 1945, in Greensburg, Kan., he was the son of Louis Wallace and Thelma Lorraine (Pyle) Kuhn. He grew up in Lawrence, Kan., where he graduated from Lawrence High School in 1963. He was a letterman on the 1962 Class 5A state championship football team as well as the golf team. He attended Pittsburg State College, where he played football. He then transferred to the University of Kansas, graduating in 1968 with a degree in business administration. He entered the U. S. Army in 1968 and graduated from Officer Candidate School at Ft. Sill, Okla., in February 1969. He served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 as a 2nd Lieutenant with the HQ Battery 5th Battalion, 27 Artillery as a forward observer, where he was awarded a bronze star. In 1972, he married Bonnie Marie Miscevich of Kansas City, Kan., He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kuhn of Greensburg, Kan.; two sons, Nathan Jack Kuhn of Kansas City, and David Halley “Buster” Kuhn of Greensburg, Kan.; one daughter, Amy Marie Kuhn of Dodge City, Kan.; one sister, Patty Kuhn Kennedy of Lawrence, Kan.; and one brother, Ed Kuhn of Charleston, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends are invited to a remembrance at the ranch on Saturday, April 22, from 5 p.m. to dusk with remarks and prayer at 6 p.m. In Lawrence, Kan., please join the family at the home of Patty and Marty Kennedy, 725 New Jersey, on Saturday, April 29, from 5 p.m. to dusk with remarks and prayer at 6 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Lawrence High School Alumni Association, Comanche County Hospital, or Wounded Soldier Fund in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Edith A. Thrasher, 87, Gardner, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, April 17, 2006.

Carl Douglas Alberts
Captain Carl Douglas Alberts USN (ret) died on November 14th of Alzheimer’s disease at Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was 85 years old.
Born in Holts Summit, Missouri, on April 4, 1925, Doug was the first of five sons born to Carl Spurgeon Alberts and Grace Smallwood Alberts.
He graduated from Jefferson City High School, and entered the University of Missouri. To that date, he was the youngest to have received a BS in Electrical Engineering.
The day after graduating from Missouri University, he left for the U.S. Naval Academy. He enjoyed being first baseman on the Academy team, and a three striper as Commander of the 17th Company.
Doug graduated in June 1946 as Ensign U.S. Navy and reported to the battleship New Jersey. After its decommissioning, he was ordered to duty as an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School.
Doug transferred from shipboard duty to the Civil Engineering Corps. He attended Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a degree in Civil Engineering as a Tau Beta Pi. He served in various capacities related to construction operations and management in California, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, Africa, Japan, and Hawaii.
After 16 years active duty, Doug transferred to the Naval Reserve, while working for the General Electric Co. in Engineering management services. He retired in 1963 with a total of 26 years Naval service. His last two assignments were as Commanding Officer of the 3rd and 4th Naval Reserve SEABEE construction regiments.
He administered the oath of enlistment to his son John, and swore him into the SEABEEs in 1968. John served in his father’s command. He is a CECS, USN (ret) SEABEE.
Doug was a Professional Licensed Engineer in New York State and South Carolina.
Doug’s marriage to Jane Virginia Schmidt produced four children; John Douglas Alberts, Carol Lee Alberts, Mark Stephen Alberts, and Beth Ann Alberts.
He is survived by his second wife of 20 years, Sallie Sawyer Fields Alberts and two step children, Lee Sawyer Fields and Leslie Lynn Rodgers; seven grandchildren and four step grandchildren. Also surviving in Jefferson City, Missouri, are his brothers Roger and Elliot Alberts, their families, and the families of his deceased brothers Lester and Richard Alberts.
He was a voracious reader. He never was content with just the answer to a problem, he needed to understand it in detail. Doug was a man of honor who led by example.
On November 19th, 2008, a memorial service will be held at four o’clock at Patriots Colony. November 20th he will be inurned in the columbarium at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation may send it to The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society to be used for a young family whose service member has been injured or killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Clifford L. Baslee
Clifford L. Baslee, 76, of Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Cancer Action, Inc., or to K.C. Hospice.

Madelene K. Curts-Overfelt
Madelene K. Curts-Overfelt, 65, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House after a valiant battle with multiple myeloma. Madelene was the only child of George and Aldred Schweder. She was preceded in death by her parents in 1996 and by her husband of 39 years, Joseph “JD” Curts in 2002. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Don Overfelt of the home, her son Jeff, his wife Becky, and their children Lynne and Drew, Kansas City, KS; her daughter Jennifer Curts-Smith, her husband Norman, and their children Nichole and Jaiden, Bonner Springs, KS; her uncle LaVerne Schweder and his wife Leslie, Overland Park, KS.
Madelene was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church serving as financial secretary and was active in their volunteer group providing numerous care items for local hospitals and Cancer Action. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being outside and caring for her beautiful roses. We have many precious memories of her and will remember all the fun times, travels and wise advice she shared. She will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends, many of whom considered her their second mom, grandma and sister. Thank you all for your support and prayers.

Kathryn was born October 4, 1920, in Kansas City, KS. She was a member of CWF at Grandview Christian Church, La Sertoma, CABA, and Cancer Action. She was a Voracious reader of the KC Star. Kathryn is survived by daughter, Linda Arvin and husband John; and blended families Patricia Couch and husband Mark; Catherine Regan and husband Tim; Mary Simpson and husband Mike; James Stewart and wife Sharon; 4 grandchildren, Collin, Mitchell, and Brenna Regan and Ashley Couch; many nieces and nephews, and a niece who had a special place in her heart, Jill Johnson and her husband Paul; great-nieces and great-nephews. Judith was born on July 19, 1939 in Kansas City, Ks to Frank and Jewell (Dalton) Tomecal.
Judith is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, of 50 years of marriage Raymond L. Hattaway, daughter Brenda Chumley, (Mike) and their children, Garrett and Tara, son David Hattaway, (Lisa) and their children, Amanda, Eric, Kathleen, Conner and Maureen. Judith also leaves one great granddaughter Kylie. Judith was the president of the Victory Hills Baptist Church ABW. She enjoyed reading , scrapbooking, and most of all, the time she spent with her family, grandkids, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Orval Henderson in 2004 and her daughter Rebecca Lynn Imbeau on February 12, 2008. She is survived by 3 children Mark Alan Henderson, Harry Rinehart Henderson, Lori Anne Ontiveros, all of Kansas City, KS, 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Del Harbin, Carol Babb and a brother Major William Rinehart. Raymond was born March 29, 1950 in Kansas City, KS and was a lifetime area resident. He was a 1968 graduate of Bishop Ward High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia KS. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was employed in the trucking industry for 37 years. Raymond loved going to the Lake of the Ozarks to relax with family and friends on his deck and riding his Harley. He especially loved the time spent with his precious grandchildren, Natalie and Colin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie and brother, Vince. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Pattie (Buford) Rodriguez, of the home, daughter and her husband, Angie and Chad Burns, Parkville, Mo, grandchildren, Natalie and Colin, his father, Sandy Rodriguez and his wife, Sherri, Edinburg,TX, nephew, Michael Rodriguez, two nieces, Suzy Isabell and Vickie Rodriguez, and many loved family members and friends. Raymond was a gentle and caring person who always loved making everyone laugh. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Frank Alden Harrington, 83, of Bonner Springs, KS. Passed away Sunday, December 14th, 2008 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, KS. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at the Alden - Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. With burial to follow in Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 to 8 pm Wed., Dec. 17, 2008 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Bonner Springs Library or the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Kansas City, MO. and lived in the Bonner Springs, KS area most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II serving on the Escort Carrier U.S.S. Gilbert Islands. He was a member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Bonner Springs Masonic Lodge and was a Charter member of the Bonner Springs Lions Club. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post # 371 in Bonner Springs. He was a previous owner and partner at the Alden - Harrington Funeral Home retiring in 1983. He enjoyed recycling before recycling was in fashion, reclaiming all kinds of things. His famous saying was "A guy could use that someday." Frank never met a stranger and could strike up conservation with just about anyone.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Ellen Harrington of the home, 1 daughter Elisabeth Bruce and her husband Charles of Bonner Springs, KS. 2 Sons Dr. James L. Harrington and his wife Toonie Histia of Grand Junction, CO and Robert A. Harrington and his wife Pam of Missoula, MT. 7 Grandchildren Charlie, Tiffany, Hunter, Tian, LinXiao, Henade and Kaacha. 1 Brother John Harrington and his wife Connie and 1 Sister Norma Ward and her husband Gene all of Bonner Springs, KS. And he will be greatly missed by his beloved dogs Muffin and Otis.
